    My Clio Turbo Project

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

I used to have a Renault Clio with a R5GTT engine in it untill that went pop.

Now I've decided to do it all over again with a new shell.

Bought the engine of eBay for £300 which included a rebuilt bottom end, reconditioned gear box, full exhaust system for a clio R5, polished boost pipes, driveshafts for a clio and some 2.0 Williams discs and calipers.

I've started to strip it all down just to see how it's fairing in its old age and it needs new pipework all over as a lot of them are split.

A few weeks ago I saw a neglected Valver on eBay and decided to buy it. It's a 1993 1.8 16v which has seen better days.

Here are some pictures of it:

It needs a new passenger side front wing, new windscreen, new front foglights, new drivers door, replace interior with 16v spec and sort the rust round the rear arches. The gearbox also needs a rebuild but I won't be using that anyway. The car itself has done 141,000 miles which you can really tell.

All that will get sorted as the project goes on, but I only paid £195 for the car.

I managed to source a wing in blue for a good price as well as purchasing some angel eyes. I'm not usually a fan of angel eyes but I intend to use HIDs and this is the only legal way to use them.

Here's what else I received recently:

    Some renault 5 turbo dials

I also bought this, a blue carpet from a williams. Obviously some sort of custom job, but I think it will look good. Only got this useless eBay picture at the minute.

    T25 Turbo:

    AH Fabrications Front Mount Intercooler:

Full spec the car should be:

    T25 Turbo (Got)
    8mm HT Leads (Got)
    Copper Core Radiator
    Front Mount Intercooler
    Group A Carb (Got)
    2.5" Turbo Elbow (Got)
    2.5" Turbo Downpipe (Got)
    2.5" side exit exhaust
    Lightend & Balanced flywheel
    Volvo 480 Turbo Clutch
    Uprated Brakes all round
Lowering all round (Not sure how much yet)
    Piper 285 cam

I have already got some of the bits, just waiting to get some more money to buy the rest.

    I'll keep you updated.

    Comments and suggestions welcome!!

How about better flow exhaust manifold? I think that standard R5GTT exhaust manifold is not good if you think flow...tubes are not same in lenght (those vary quite lot).

As far as I am concerned about R5 Turbo2....there are exhaust manifold where are tubes that smaller from diameter, but exhaust gasses flow with high speed....

Kind of forgot about this thread. Here is where I am. Nearly finished it all now.

Connected most of the hoses. Still more to do.

I dunno what it is about silicon hose kits, but they always remind me of this:
