    the BTCC discussion thread

just thought id start a thread for anyone whos into the btcc to discuss what imo is the best race series in the calendar.

we have now had 6 rounds (Brands hatch and Donington) and move onto Thruxton next 3rd/4th May which should be very interesting and id expect the hondas to be strong there along with the bmw's.

it was good to see sam tordoff get his 2nd win yesterday as i think hes got a big future in btcc and that last corner overtake by shedden on turkington to take the win in the final race was what id call an old school touring car move

anyway here is the latest championship standings just look at that top 5 only 8 points between them

    1. JASON PLATO 87pts
    2. ANDREW JORDAN 87pts
    3. GORDON SHEDDEN 86pts
    4. COLIN TURKINGTON 84pts
    5. MATT NEAL 79pts
    6. SAM TORDOFF 57pts
    7. ROBERT COLLARD 56pts
    8. MAT JACKSON 38pts
    9. ARON SMITH 32pts
    10. TOM INGRAM 27pts

    Re: the BTCC discussion thread

I don't really follow it these days. It's still good racing but I remember the 1990's when they had all the major manufacturers involved and the best touring car drivers around - awesome racing. And they actually looked like the cars you'd buy in the showrooms.

My favourite BTCC moment......... 'the mans an animal!'

    Re: the BTCC discussion thread

I've got a load of btcc DVDs from the mid 80s to 1992. That's when the btcc was at its best imo.

Tbh I don't watch any motor racing on the box anymore. F1 is dull, rallying never really did it for me as I'm a fan of Tarmac and btcc is too fwd nowadays.

As said above, btcc used to look like cars you could buy in the showrooms. That's what appealed to me

Just to add, my favourite moments were the Birmingham super-prix through the city centre and cleland getting knocked out on the last lap of the last race of the season by frank sytner. Awesome racing.

    Re: the BTCC discussion thread

so were onto another round of the btcc and 3 races to come from thruxton, shaping up to be a good un and andrew jordan has been on top through all practice and is on pole for the race. also gotta say a fantastic effort by tom ingram to be 5th

on another note andrew jordan now has the lap record for the track which had stood since 2002 and in fact anyone in the top 10 had beat the previous lap record so it just shows how quick they are this year

below is todays timetable and top 10 from qualifying

    Re: the BTCC discussion thread

well another round of the btcc passed yesterday with some good action especially in the reverse grid final race.
an absolute stinker for the mg lads as per at thruxton, another good day for defending champ jordan and gotta say matt jackson looked much more at it.

on another note thruxton have gotta do something about the safety measures at church corner as they are a joke

here are the current top 10 in the points standings

    1. ANDREW JORDAN 141pts
    2. GORDON SHEDDEN 133pts
    3. COLIN TURKINGTON 123pts
    4. MATT NEAL 110pts
    5. JASON PLATO 106pts
    6. ROBERT COLLARD 88pts
    7. MAT JACKSON 79pts
    8. SAM TORDOFF 75pts
    9. ADAM MORGAN 49pts
    10. FABRIZIO GIOVANARDI 47pts
