hi, i have fitted a 1.7 f2n engine in my 1.4 campus but couldnt get the car to turn over (the starter motor wont turn) i found an ecu and think this is the problem, i disconnected the ecu and thought id try put the battery on again to see if this would work, i heard a noise which i think might have been the starter solenoid but there was smoke so i removed the battery cables straight away (there was no smoke with ecu connected) tomorrow i am going to try an ecu'less loom and see if it works, when i removed the 1.4 engine i dont remember taking off a lead that goes from battery to starter, how i remember it was there was a little white lead (exciter) and a red cable going to the alternator, how i have it at the moment is white lead connected starter to alternator connected also a lead from starter to battery, my question is, which way does it go? do i have it right at the moment? or do i need to remove the battery to starter cable? thanks
