    Exhaust options.

Just a quick one and I'm sure it's probably been covered many times before but...

For power gains would you choose a 2.5" side exit with silencer or a 2" side exit with no boxes at all?

I'm not even too fussed by it being side exit to be honest but I do like the sound of them and I do want the best flowing that I don't have to get 'custom made'.

What's your opinions? What 'off the shelf' system would you choose for a killer sound and more poke?

    Thanks

    Re: Exhaust options.

A sidey would be the best option for making use of any engine tuning

All down to personal taste when it comes to noise, I like them quite subtle but with a nice note on full chat

Sideys are really loud, I remember Rob@Backyardracing flying past me once on the m6 Toll and I jumped out of my skin

No need to go bigger than 2.5" not unless you going for 250plus hp imo.

A lot of gains to be had with a full 2.5" downpipe

Not yet Gordon. It is on the list for later in the year which would be the point that I'd have to go 2.5 but for now it's standard.

It's actually your system I'm thinking about if you still have it.

Is this for the phase 1?

Doesn't Bob do a stainless system that copies the OE system?

I do, it was too much of a ball-ache to get the exhaust to Xenon since Sangliers got cancelled.
I'm currently reviewing my options. I might sell my BMS downpipe & wideband and go back to the sidey.

The ktek/tiger sidey is 2.5". The silencer doesnt do much. Unsilenced may draw too much attention on tne roads, police/vosa hassle everybody around here.

I loved my 2.5" Mongoose exhaust with 3" tail. I removed the baffle from the tail pipe. Sounded great, looked great, top build quality.

    Re: Exhaust options.

You know what Jon, you're right. I was thinking all the standard after-market stuff in comparison to the 2.5" KTEC sidey was 2 1/4", when actually it's 2"

A lot of the old Scorpion stainless jobs were 2" and I specifically went for the Mongoose as it was larger (but at 2 1/4", not 2.5", as you say). Thanks for the straightner.

    I'm on a roll atm

    Re: Exhaust options.

My K-tec slash cut tail pipe is definitely 2.5" as were some of the devil exhausts, most of the others were either 2" or 2 1/4.

I love the note that it gives off, I also love the recipt I have for it for £400

Robin had until very recently a mint 2.5" devil exhaust that he had completely polished upto a mirror shine. Took him months to sell it then just after it sold he bought another gtt

    Re: Exhaust options.

And to answer you question about the sideys

They are notorious for catching on speed bumps, and the mounting point on the side near the sideskirt needs making. They also sometimes spoil the paintwork near the exit.

And they will burst your ear drums in full chat
