According to THIS website, £13,495 in 2012 is worth £6,800 which isn't far off what the thing cost brand new schmoo back in the day.

Those guys at 4Star Classics are taking the P1$$ I think!!

Someone obviously paid a pretty sum for the black one that was up for 15k, most definatly not that price but my guess is not far off.

So if people are willing to part with that much hard earned (or not in some cases) then there's a market for them to take advantage of.

fair play to them I say, but I would never pay that much for what is quite frankly a 20+ year old French slice of money sponging metal!

They certainly clean the cars advertised up well and give them an excellent ad. As gt turbos have hit/are hitting classic status now I guess the prices are starting to be set high for good examples such as this one. The classic car price guide this year lists the phase 2 turbo in it and prompts people to grab a standard one whilst they can.

i find myself asking how much is down to the car being worth more or how much is down to the pound being worth less (or is that worthless)

to make matters worse it will probably be bought and put in a bubble and never used, not what owning an iconic hot hatch it about, imo. what enjoyment can a turbo'd car be when you cant drive it for fear of it gaining miles, damage or even worse, stolen??
    very nice motor tho.

yup lol, besides that i personally dont really see the appeal for std cars, looks yes but not power/handling, 14k for 120bhp that struggles past 100mph . . more like a common modern 1.4 not so hot hatch.

Re: I'm all for 5GTT prices being "on the up..."

Hi yes this is my r5 and I have loved her very much
4 star have detailed the car for the photo shoot which it dose say in the advert.
Also i like to say this car is worth every penny of £13495, I should now it was mine I've had over the years more than 10 gt turbos going back to 1996 and have never come across one like this ever, the car is a real investment to whoever buys her which is why I had to sell her because I could not stop driving her I loved driving the gt it just felt so new and perfect and not constantly breaking down like most
Also i would like to say in there defence the are really nice guys at 4 star and can assure u they are not taking the piss they are very careful and selective about what vehicles they buy and sell and take great care in looking after there customers not like most new car dealers as they have a excellent reputation to protect. 4 star are fab really now there stuff and I'm sure who ever dose buy this little gem will be more than happy with the car and service that 4 star provide

Some mix reviews from everyone but let's see what u think in another 10 years time when u be lucky to see one still in one piece

I've got power in other cars I have - the appeal of a standard gt turbo is the fact it drives like it came out of the factory. 120 is fun in something that weighs less than a bag of sugar.

If anyone can trouser £13k for their GTT, then fair play I say.

About time the GTT gained an 'official' classic status too

True - its going to work in our favour if cars like this sell for high prices and push values up.

Nice motor, lot of cash but it looks like a proper minter, I know in the ford world genuine un restored cars like this go for big money, maybe a few more of you guys should hike the price up and start something.

It states VAT included? I thought VAT wasn't applicable to 2nd hand cars as it's been paid for when new?

I wish I did get the thick end of 12k but wanted to buy the rs4 so I let it go little bit cheaper but I'm still happy made a good profit and still room for 4 star to make there's cant be fairer than that

That's exactly the nub that boils my p1$$ Sam. I hear what you said earlier on in this thread about them being nice guys etc, but at the end of the day they're just looking to make a profit out of your car & don't care for it or the marque

Hope clean 5s do start creeping up in value. Iv noticed a few clean ones around the 4k mark but no ones buying them. Must be the notorious "unreliable" reputation they still have ha.
