    Melted wire

Hello, fitted my volvo engine all fine, took it out for its first drive for a mot and i only made it half way Me car just cut out and abit of smoke from the bonnet, took alook and the power wire connection on the battery to the starter had melted off i tryed holding it on and starting the car but the wire got really hot and burned me fingers. I kind bloke gave me a push outside his place and used his jack, i could not see any wires touching where the shouldnt. After a while of playing about i got it going again, got in drove 5 meters and the same happened again. Touched the wire in the battery and it got hot again.

    What could it be?

Try a different starter motor mate, sounds like its still engaged when engine is running
