Yes I am keeping it. I got annoyed with it over something and decided to sell. Glad I kept it now. It has been in the garage the last few months staying away from the wintry weather.
Getting it ready for the mot now. Can't wait to get it out now the weather is getting better.

    Re: My 5 Restoration

Gave her a proper buffing today, never thought i'd enjoying cleaning so much, and this time I cleaned the tyres and put the door badges on (sadly not OE)

Nevertheless I stood back and admired, and took some pics. Can't wait to get her on the road

Thanks mate. Was going to have clear lights on the front end as I'd bought the fogs and side repeaters but am now thinking of staying OE.......

I take that as a real compliment, cos it was Big Steve's Raider that made me want a Raider

TBF Tungy and White are my fave colour 5's, but this one came up at the right price and battered condition!

    Re: My 5 Restoration

I haven't really done much to the 5 lately due to time constraints, but thought i'd update my thread with a few bits....

Spent an age getting the battery tray out to replace with a nice new one from CGB, decided to strip the interior and carpet out to get the to last bolts on the tray and waxoyl the crap outta the inner floor seams etc.....

Thanks mate...... not too sure but it wouldn't surprise me, I don't think it had been on the car that long before I bought it.

    Re: My 5 Restoration

Bit of an update on the thread, coilovers are fitted... Not too sure if I've gone too low though!

Lots of copper grease on the threads and cleaned and undersealed the arches while I was down there....

Coilover sits very close to the tyre, so have fitted some 5mm spacers.....

The front sat really low but looked pretty good

Then onto the torsion bars, was not looking forward to this at all, but used plenty of penetrant spray for few days before hand. Once I took the end caps off, one was really rusty
But all was good, one shifted out easy and the other one I gave a good whack from the other side and it budged whilst I had the pressure on with the bolt and socket. Job done

This is the end result, might have gone a bit overboard with my measurements though...

Cheers for all the positive comments! I'll get a side on, at the moment it sits about 10mm lower on the front but still looks a little high compared to the rear as I guess the illusion of the rear arch being lower doesn't help

    Re: My 5 Restoration

Well 7 long months later, I've dragged my backside back to the garage to start tidying up the engine bay and add some parts that i'd been collecting up over the past few months.

Have absolutely no idea what i'm doing engine wise really, so I am making use of the search facility on here and the Haynes manual is my new best friend. The motor was rebuilt shortly before I bought it and is not run in yet so hopefully I don't need to do much here (Although I want to put a 285 in)

Plan is to clean up the engine bay following the car being at the bodyshop, it was absolutely thick in grime and crud from the 6 months it was being worked on.
I'm removing as much as I can right back to the block and I am fitting:

    Uprated starter motor
New water pump and housing (just for aesthetics admittedly)
    Magnecor Leads
    Blue silicone hose set
    Mocal oil cooler w/braided lines
    Alloy radiator
Front mount (still yet to purchase, need something to fit behind standard bumper/grill)
    New air filter and housing
    AEM AFR and downpipe
    Boost gauge etc
    GTT strut brace
and other stuff that's lurking in the garage that I can't think of........

Also planning to remove and rebuild the carb so I can change the jets for higher boost. I want to uprate the turbo sometime in the near future.

    Just getting started:

    Starting to $hit myself now!
