    suspension problem

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

hi folks! i have a bit off a prob and i hope someone in here will be able to point me in the right direction. my prob is that i have fitted new front shocks from renault and front springs off ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/290583080808 as renult no longer list new ones but my car still sits way too high at the front. now im wondering is my car lowered so i measured from the top off the rim (stndard alloys 13") to the wing, the front is roughly 21cm and the back is 13cm is this right??? and if not how do i go about getting the standard look??? thanks folks

    Hi Muzza!!

Have a look at Fail Dale's freshly rebuilt Raider in his post HERE

You will see that his car sits high at the front and he's using all OE suspension struts and springs.

When you compare it to my Raider which has got -25mm lowering springs HERE you will see that there's a difference.

I think there's a problem with the new OE springs from Renault now as they seem to make the cars sit WAY too high at the front in my opinion?

If you want the car to sit lower at the front then you've got to get new springs mate!

    Re: suspension problem

Like Steve said, my car is sitting to high at the front, the back end is still too low on standard as far as I can tell at the moment which isn't helping the look.

I have purchased a couple of different makes springs plus also got some more in from work to compare them, all of them will make the car sit this sort of height which isn't help.

I have a bloke from Renault looking through his technical books to see what the standard height should be as standard as most cars which are still running on standard suspension are 20+ years old so the springs would have sagged down which doesn't help.

dont know how accurate this is but im led to believe that new renault springs supplied are not gt turbo, they are base model ones, meaning higher ride height.

    Re: suspension problem

    Paris-Dakar setup FTF.

Perhaps some numpty at Renault UK has decided that the Campus spec springs fit all models of 5. Saying that, I remember Bryon (an old rtoc'er) buying new (supposed) GTT springs from Renault, and his 5 ended up actually sitting like a speedboat, so maybe Renault have always stocked/supplied incorrect springs for the GTT model?

The tyre make, the Renault 5 GT Turbo originally came with these tyres but they haven't been made for a long time now.
