    1.8 16v seized bottom end...

bit of a strange one, picked up a 1.8 out of a clio that had broken down, basically he was driving along and it cut out, the garage literally took the engine out and that was that, didn't even diagnose it.

got the engine on the stand last night and tried to turn it over, it was solid, so slipped off the cambelt and the cams rotate but bottom end doesn't, its solid!

apparently the lad who had the clio had a snapped cambelt, spent a grand on it having new valves etc. and 2000miles later it just cut out,

just wandering if there is anything common that it could be before i strip it or scrap it

How long ago was the engine last used? I have also heard that if the valves hit the pistons badly the rods get jammed on the crank best just stripping sump off and take a look if that looks ok head off and it's try to unseize that

probs about 3 months it's been sat, but could have seized when the car cut out, if it's anything that involves major stripping I will just get another lump as it's cheaper than a head set lol

................and then you will never have a seized bottom end and as a bonus, you can check it each time the engine is out on a weekly basis
