Its an excel file of all the cars on UK roads

Seems to show that there were only 603 5 GT Turbos and 58 Raiders on the road at the end of 2010.

So did i, few years ago Sparkie found out that there were roughly 2500ish 5 gt turbos left and 380ish Raiders still out there. I know some have been scraped since then but can't be that many

He also got numbers left of Renault 11, 9, turbo 2, gordini, etc

That site is s**t it's wrong it say there are 88 s1 Rs turbos left and that's a lie as the Rs owners club have 1020 left on and off the rd that's for sure as we all had resign to tell the club that the car is sill alive

Even raiders not so long ago we got a total of 300 just over so how can there be 58 left don't work out ????????

You do realise you need to add the 4 quarters up. So 5 gt turbo there is 2646 and Raider there is 295 which have been taxed in last year. 5559 rs turbos on one of them, not sure what the other rs turbo is though.

I am surprised how many Renault 5 GT Turbos + Raiders there are left.

I cannot remember the last time I saw one driving along other than my own. In fact I think it may have been in about 2003 when I saw three in Dorney Reach near Maidenhead having a little blast together. I went to join in (at the time driving a 106 GTi) but my fuel pump packed up so I had to coast to the side of the road!

i used to drive around and not many folk looked at my 5 but lately more are looking and getting tooted with thumbs up aswell..or maybe it was tooting+verble+2 fingers!!!

Well after 7 years off the road ive finally got my phase 1 gtt road legal and after a small oil leak am now awaiting my day off this friday to take her for a blast, so thats one more on the road

So from 2009 to 2010 there was a 16.6% drop in ownership of the GT Turbo.

I'm not sure if that's the case mate, this was mentioned on another forum I frequent (clubcalibra) and they seem to think that those statistics are showing how many cars held a tax disc each quarter.

Here is the example they use

Those figures arent telling you how many people actually BOUGHT a tax disc each quarter, its how many Calibra's HELD a tax disc each quarter. Two VERY different things.

If it were as you say, it would mean there were 24 DTM Turbo's taxed in 2010, yet we know there were only 22 made.

Same goes for SE9's. Ie Adding all 4 quarterly figures would make over 400 SE9's taxed in 2010, but there were only 308 made.....

So just look at the Q4 2010 column for the most accurate latest figure

I don't know numbers etc for R5 GTT's but I do know if I added all those quarters up Calibra Turbo LE's for example that would be 65 for 2010 yet only 51 were made back in 1996/7....

I don't know about everyone else but I think 603 R5 GTT's on the road at the end of last year sounds a little more realistic then 2646.

This club has just over 700 members although how many of them are active, actually own a 5 still or even have one taxed! not to mention 5's being broken every other week on ebay.

I realise we are not the only club and some people won't even be on here or r5gtturbo.com but still I find 2646 a tad unlikely.

i also thought that the figures seem more realistic than previous reports.

think about how many people you know who are not a member on here with a 5 gt turbo.
there isnt many.

this would maybe explain why people rarely see them on the road now.

Just bear in mind the stats in that excel spread sheet is showing taxed vehicles and does not include SORN.

Perhaps this will make more sense of what i'm getting at, taken from link posted by Chris T and it also appears the site is compiled using the same stats supplied by the government however it includes SORN data.



Now if you add up all the quarters of 2010 that would give you 776 Raiders still out there SORN or taxed......

Also notice that as the number of taxed vehicles drop each quarter the number of SORN increase, well pretty much anyhow.

Yeah I know what you're saying but if its interpreted like that you get crazy numbers like the Raider for example 776 still out there? I doubt that.

I'd go with those figures. The way I look at it is 70 odd taxed raiders, most Likly 200 odd untaxed/sorned dotted around the country in all sorts of states, different colours, burnt out, cut up etc. I'm selling mine now but I'm having trouble finding that dam bit of paper with my unique number
