spacers.?

now, im in 2 minds weather to store these rims away or to fit them to the 5.

for them to fit i require im assuming custom spacers which would need to be 20mm thick for the wheels to just clear the calipers.
the thing is, if i go this thick i will loose the centre bore to locate the wheels and take the weight.!

could someone point me in the right direction for the spacers required? hubcentric yes.?these have a protruding centre ring yes?
i wouldnt want the wheels relying on just the bolts!would like the centrebore to take the weight.

also,ive looked on the wheels and im unable to find what offset they are! could someone possibly work this out with the above info.? the wheels are 13x8 alleycat rallye specials.

ive trial fitted the rims using washer between the hub and rims and have to say they look insane the stance they give the 5 kinda menacing. however wont mean a thing if i dont fit them

I really wanted a set of the alleycat wheels, the offset was miles out for the 5 though... I emailed a company about them, although they were 13x7, the offset was -7

I can get stuff knocked up as specials but it's not a a cheap exercise . Just had some hubcentric spacers done for a Spider .

wrong on both counts, you need those two to calculate offset.

measurements may not be 100% accurate.

yes its they seem have an offset of 2. just worked it out using a method i found.

i think std wheel offset is 35.? so a pretty big difference

Being that thick you can put some fairly decent fixings in the spacer .Bolt the spacer to the hub and have new bolts/holes to mount the wheel .Also means you will have good strength hubcentric .

i have 15mm per side eibach pro spacers, they have the central locating lip and fit fine, no issues with handling etc

yes, so i could go for the 25mm hubcentric spacers on ebay

i suppose the only issue is arch clearance! but seen as my 5 has std ride height it should be an issue. also got me thinking if they'll clear the inner wheel arch!

as above, et-2 standard is et36, so you're 38mm further out, add 25 and you're 63 further out. Since these are 8" rather than 7" you get an extra 13mm sticking out as well. So basically, compared to the more normal 7x15 wheel your outer wheel face will be 76mm (3") further out.

Have you heard of anyone running an 8x13 ET-27 on a GTT?

you also need to allow clearance fore and aft, with that much offset the wheels will move a long way backwards and forewards when you steer.

oops, just remembered who ran that size rim and offset, me at the national day 2005. Scoff has also run them, you'll need to find some old santa pod pics. Before than Jaffa ran them on his car 2004?

so your saying im going to have problems with them.?? i can see the rear going on ok with spacers. but as mentioned the fore/aft clearance on the front will be iffy!

no loss really as the wheels will save for another car
