    '51 megane 1.6 overheating issue

    just a quick one, looking at a neighbours megane, its a 1.6 16v 2001 on a 51
has had a radiator and thermostat, but still overheating. will tick over for hours and sit at normal, but as soon as its driven it boils over. top hose gets warm, bottom hose stays cold... could it be water pump?

They suffer from airlocks quite a bit... Bleed it out.

pipe is getting warm after the stat, there are no visible bleeds, have ran it with cap off for about 30mins to burp air out, but soon as cap is on it pressurises, but HG is ok

If it's a 16v it cavitates in the water pump.
We use a vac device that pulls the air out of the system, it's called drz2000, looks like something out of the tardis.....

If you can lift the coolant bottle as high as you can it may help, rev the engine a few times to pull the water around instead of idleing it....

There is a 10mm bleed nipple on the passenger side of the head, below the cam caps. theres about 10bolts but its one closest too you and sticking out the most. hope you know what i mean lol.
