turbo help
i snapped the union that goes into my turbo today, it was leaking oil slightly so i nipped it up and it just sheared off inside the turbo as its a ally union. its completly flush so cant get mole grips on there, any ideas what to do. dont really want to send it away as i have only driven the car once since having it rebuilt .

Re: turbo help
Carefully tap the remaining bit loose with a screwdriver? make sure no swarf goes in the turbo though. A bit of grease in the hole before attempting it might help.

Re: turbo help
Might not be too bad if its alloy. Might be able to get an easy out to fit in the hole?

Re: turbo help
worst case scenario... get an allen key or a torx key and tap it down the centre of the alloy piece thats left in, then unscrew it.
soak with penetrating lube first though.
might be worthwhile getting the turbo hot first. - can do this by holding the blades of the turbo so IT DOES NOT MOVE AT ALL. then running the car for 5mins. easier than attacking with a Go-Gas gun...

Re: turbo help
now fixed, i tapped a torx bit in and twisted it out with a ratchet, removed the turbo, checked for swarf and refitted, just need a new union now and to make a braket to take the weight off it, happy days .
