small update...
Im making a fuel cell in the bay, our weight has dropped down to 969kg in our class so im able to loose the steel tank at rear and all the lines etc.. Also the manifold is here now..
The car the the rad and cooler on, i need to sort a new boost run and also up the size to 3inch, also i need to fit a slimline fan to rad and we do the coolant system etc..
And here is the new Manifold...
Still got a **** load of things to get yet.... kinda booked a holiday to Ibiza today instead tho wups ..... closing partys here i come...
I'm looking to move, can i live in your turbo?
Doesnt fit to great yet, i need to trim the slam pannel... the exhaust will just be a 4" bend out of bonnet....
who made manifold pal
A dumper truck ... AFI full race mani
Really smart mate
Few more parts today, GE pro series fuel rail, fuel pressure gauge, Weldon fuel reg, hondata intake gasket, and a block bung to ditch the OE oil catch can...
This car is so bad you need locking up rob!!!!!!!!! Kind of wish I had gone for a top mount now, such a larger selection of turbos to chose from. Snap with the fuel rail, looks to be a nice bit of kit.
Awesome stuff Rob, make sure you post up when you will be running, i'd love to try to make it along
should be ready for august
2013
When you going to Ibiza Rob, Im hopefully going there for my stag do
Well one of the wastegates came today, the other will be in a few weeks.. Also the injectors are on the way very soon and the new fuel cell is taking shape...
The next few pics prob wont interest anyone but RSnut..
Ive modified the coolant system so we just have 3 hoses.. There is a outlet on the head for the heaters, you can block this off with a plug the same as the cover plugs for the rocker shafts, i managed to get a secondhand one. Also the coolant rail on rear of block ive welded up the two outlets on this. Ive done away with the stock oil catch can and running a bung for this, the top breather pipe will need welding up also.. pics..
That turbo's dam near as big as the engine!!
Sex !!
What size gates are those Rob 44mm? I wondering if I will encounter any problems running just one 44mm.
Nice work mate, what have you done with the bits on the thermostat housing? I have never really taken much notice of the cooling system. I did the same with the breather system, I found a 35mm core plug and bashed it in there, hopefully won't fall out.
All looking VERY VERY clean! Sure it will go like stink! Keep up the great work
Hate to think how much you have invested in parts
The turbo on my track car could probably get sucked through that one lol
DG
Is That a Borgeee Warrrner i see there Rob?? Lovely turbo's
Them gates look like the demon ones?? Im thinking of getting those as i need two and one Tial requires me to remortgage the house!!
Few pics, ive binned all the fuel tank and lines now. Also all the brake lines have gone and changing for new.. The new tank is taking shape, just need to find a filler cap and sort the lid and fuel bungs out.. Im in the process of sorting all the fuel fittings and lines.. £££££££... .. there is still a list of things doing but id really like to have it running in 3 weeks..
The new forward facing slim fan, saves on room in bay etc..
The staging brake im going to stick in while lines are out..
Stage brake, nice. I've wanted a stage brake for a while - anything that makes the launch less complicated is a winner. I also thought I could link my launch control in to the brake, so it was one less button to press on the steering wheel.
after my experiences measuring forge wastegate springs I'd be concerned that the 2 wategates aren't doing the same thing. Are you measuring the 2 turbine inlet pressures, or will it all be fine?
Don't quote me on this but I saw a guy on H.T who had put a small notch into the divider to try and equal the pressure. How well it would work I don't know I have never messed around with divided housings.
eeek, you know i hadnt even considered that potentail problem
we dont measure TIP at all, nevermind in each side of the turbine
we will be using an electric boost control solenoid to control boost though, just one solenoid T pieced in to control both gates simultaneously, i was hoping that it would naturally balance any pressure differances as it "pushes" the gates closed, as of course the pressure will want to take the easiest route.
i can understand that on spring pressure alone (i.e before the solenoid is allowing any boost pressure to hold the gate shut) could be un-balanced, but as were only running very light gate spring pressure (0.7bar to help traction in 1st) im not worried about a miss-match at those low levels.
where did u source yr block bung from please,
Nice 1 fella. I'll pull my finger out soon an finish my pikey Spec 1
Getting there... All brake pipes and staging brake done, loom fitted and ecu.. Ive just got the filler cap for the tank so im able to get this finish next week.. most of fuel fittings are here and injectors should be tuesday.. If all goes well this week i should be close to running. Im having to make some V band flanges at work for the turbo due to the cost of them (£70 for an 4" exhuast flange!!).... The boost hose is staying 2.5" for now and also the stock TB will be left on the car.. Ill improve these over the winter..
The new brake location and lines..
An idea of the tank and pump set up + reg...
-8 fuel hose
Nice work Rob, getting there, slowly but surely!
What brake flaring tool are you using mate?
Looking really good as always rob !
How will you arrange the 2nd 044 ? It would be nice if you could have them side by side, each pulling from the bottom of the tank.
Get your shades on.... our new wheels...
and the cover...
Nice mate, is that asbo orange the ford st colour? What wheels are those?
The wheels of a fezzi my mate was selling on as a wager so took them off that for the honda so not cost anything. There only cheap make but look better than the steels we had. The colour is just fluorescent orange not the ST...
If you can access the tank why not put the pumps inside? Have you got a coarse filter between the tank and the pump?
Could have done somthing similer to this.. But this tank prob wont be staying, its just temp to get us out..
http://www.xenocron.com/xenocron-dua...kit-p-626.html
Im running a 100mircon filter after pump. I really cant see much crap being in the fuel as its a new tank anyway..
too many heinekens and not enuff eyes
The Id1000`s turned up the other day, just in the process of fitting the fuel hoses, im unsure if i should change the layout so i dont have a fuel joiner over the alternator just incase i have a leak.. or am i being para...
The new injectors
I could run the fuel hose like this..
or like this and fit it to the rail on the other side...
with 2x044s I don't think it'll make much difference where the joins are if one leaks.
Yeah, it's staggering how much fuel 2 of those can move. Mine will empty my 2L swirl pot in not many seconds. Even regulated at 3 bar they will suck the pot dry with the lift pump (the usual uprated GTT type) running flat out to fill it. I have to run the rail return to the swirl pot to keep the level up. A leak, anywhere in the bay would be game over.
