    altenator

    as i have just been forced to change the altenator belt i have fitted a new cable but the altenator does not go back to original position the belt is not to tight but if i put it back to where it was the belt would have no slack at all will this be ok.

    i'd rather it be a lil tight than too loose, too tight isnt as serious as too loose. I do mine pretty much as tight as i can get it(obviously depending on what implement your using to tension the alty lol)

    Too tight and it will wear it out quicker, too loose and it will slip and wear out alot quicker, possibly jump off and possibly slip on your alty/water pump, not cooling and not charging properly.
