That was USC and Nat Day nearly over for me!

Always happens at the last minute doesn't it, campus decided to spit its dummy out in a big way and nearly kill the engine comletely!

7pm i'm on my way to Gttnutters to collect my trailer board, campus didn't like to idle so with it running was playing with mixture screw. Just poked into car and oil pressure was reading 0psi!!

Turned it off, checked for oil out of the block union just by crancking it and nothing! Crap, pumps gone.
Checked turbo and has slight play so this put me in a right mood!

Come in the house pissed off and brother says 'come on lets get pump out'

So 7:30 car up in air, sump off and pump out to find relief valve is stuck. Replaced pump with good spare one, refitted sump and filled it up and 8:20pm the car is running again and thankfully with bloody good oil pressure!

Glad its done now but nearly did loose my rag completely and was almost up for breaking it for spares, one day they'll work fine for me.

Just been out in it and it runs like a bag of crap mate, fueling is all over place its unreal. I set the reg to just over 5psi, on idle its about right although idle isn't perfect (may need to mod dizzy body as retimed cam again) but driving its wierd.

Part throttle is not too bad (sitting around the 14), lift off and it sticks at 12-13 Normally goes leaner than this due to the throttle being shut.

Then on boost it just leaned up to 15 quickly where i let off and then when i put foot done had nothing for good few sec's

And to top it all off there was oil in header tank Not black oil but mixed (milky so hoping it poss residue of last mishap at Pod Day) if more comes back god knows whats happened to it.

My fave piccy is the first one, its the same image I have in my head when I saw Mark in the car on the M25 a few months ago, its looks so inconspicuous when it couldnt be further from the truth

If the weather clears up and my cold (which makes it worse having manflu! ) i'll be sticking the standard fpr back on to see if this is the cause, i got a suspicion it is as its the only real big change i've made to it and since its the fueling that gone tits up leads me to that.

I swapped it as i wanted to up the fuel pressure going to the carb by a psi or 2

Re: That was USC and Nat Day nearly over for me!

Just changed the fpr over back to standard but didn't matter much as its no smoking its nuts off, pulled air filter off and turbo's got play in it, compressor wheels scored the housing and you can see oil coming out the back!

Think thats game over for me now officially.

Usc is totally out the window and if can't get turbo sorted next week it won't be coming to Nat Day either.

What the whole car or the complete engine!
Really disliking the C1J at the moment, thinking of replacing it for something fuel injected.

Would be nice to get it running and do a good run in it first before selling car/engine on though.

Yesterday was nothing mate, its pouring out now.

Real shame as was looking forward to running it and seeing how it would go.

Cheers for the offer mate but to be honest i'd rather not fit it until i know if it was the kanckered pump that killed the turbo or something else, don't want to kill yours too.
Also yours is too small for me!

Yeah it loved da boost chasing that RS Turbo!

Yeah sure it would Rich but the front end is too small for my engine, need something of similar size. Prob take it to Adams tomorrow if i can and see what the score is with it.

USC over for me too, before it even started ! new turbo insists on being more efficient than the last, my tiny 38mm wastegate is creeping way too much. more upset since it was the last round of the season and on top of that with some of the quick runners out of action (or at TOTB) I had a chance of doing quite well.

and now thats in general chat for the whole world to see but yes, I'll be looking to do some kind of test and tune or similar once the setup is right.

I'm really sick that I'll miss tomorrow, it would have been fantastic to compete for 2nd place (because let's face it, 1st place from an FWD is not likely to happen while Andy Waite is in the competition). Both Andy nicholls and specky are out tomorrow, that would have left only a couple of other quick FWD's to compete with.
