New poster! (less than 10 posts)

Got back a few hours ago from Pod, it was a good turn out apart from only being five Gt's there.

I've been there all day with Scoff, Rob and Glen (HI 5), has been a fairly good day but there was a strong head wind so terminals for all of the cars competing were down.

Glen started off with a 11.6@118mph but after that never really moved from that no matter what he done to the nitrous, i watched another 11.7, 11.6 and 11.5 all at 118mph.

Looks like Scoffs gearbox gremlins have come back to haunt him, struggled with second gear all day, seemed to not be able to shift at high revs again. His best for the day was another 10.5@139mph with a best terminal of the day of 140mph.

Was a good day out and catch up. Good to see his car pull a decent trap with all the inner changes its had since rtoc... shame about track conditions.. Good to be home, scoff tried to kill me on M6.. i think the 4am starts are killers..

Thanks for the help today guys, much apreciated Car was generally OK, engine going fine just gearbox letting it down for the first few runs again. Finally got it to shift half decent toward the end of the day. Not reviewed logs properly yet but car felt to be better in the mid-range as I'd hoped it would. Gearbox was apart last week after shreading 3rd gear while mapping in the changes, so not sure if something has been disturbed, just not shifting as nicely as it used to. Needs a bit more investigation.

Mmmmm sounds like someone has been complaining about light cars!! They probably don't like the fact that 2 R5's are hot on their heels

Hey dave, some of the other cars wern't that much heavier than us! One of the corsa's was lighter infact. I think they all thought that we would be much much lighter than them all.

Hahaha yeah I bet they did I'm sure they can't believe it, a renault thats fast and don't break every 2 seconds...

Surely the idea of these sort of things is to keep it at everyones level (sportmans), not just the big boys who can afford to spend 10k on bearings etc!!!

lol.. There not just increasing it for the fun of it, they want the series to go MSA... The ESC doesnt have many rules as such and is just a thrown together series by Santa Pod.. They weighed all the cars at last event to just get an idea to what weight limit they can run when the rule book is writen up..

Stu: have a look here.. http://www.eurosportscompact.co.uk/techtest.php

Yeah I understand what your saying, but it's up to you what car you use at the end of the day... Just seems like these things at Pod always get too serious for not alot of return.. but then that's my opinion

Also I bet they base it on/near the heavier cars.... I still say someone has probably mentioned somethink..

Re: ESC and retro day @ santa pod 18th of July

yeah its a real can o worms` on the santa pod forum, but all the esc guys have been warned well in advance of santa pods plans with the ESC series.

the weights will prob end up very similair to the hks weights, (i.e 1039kg) which will likley see some cometitors leave, which is a shame, as im sure spectators want to see the best the country has to offer, not just the portion that are happy to add 100kg+ to the there cars to meet some regulations.

im not sure why santa pod wants to make the series MSA certified, and bring in rules etc, rather than leave it as it is, whats in it for santa pod?

It'll kill the series as we know it. It'll either attract a new set of competitors or it'll die all together. I don't imagine any of the top runners will continue to race in it. Most are short of the weight and the vast majority are no where near with the other MSA requirements.
