    Re: Blue smoke :(

The more 'important' breather restrictor (as far as good idling) goes in the pipe that goes to the inlet manifold nrv.

If you're running the Cup spec breather system though, the restrictor(s) aren't used anyway.

so its possible that the restrictor is pushing the oil the wrong way then?

Nah, as there'll be no oil present in that part of the circuit...well, unless there's excessive ring blowby pushing the oil into the separator pot & beyond.

Flop the old hoses back on for the time being and see if the smoke goes away....its got to be something silly.
Your not loosing any other fluids like coolant?

Does it happen more if you back off the throttle after being on boost, then lightly apply the gas pedal again?

    Re: Blue smoke :(

Classic symptom of turbo failure, but I'd certainly double-check the breather pipe plumbing before worrying about it being the blower potentially at fault.

Cup breather setup doesn't have any of the o.e breather restrictors in situ.

    Re: Blue smoke :(

If you take the restrictor out, the engine won't idle/it'll idle cr8p.

Cup breather setup is like this...

You could try that as a test, as at least that eliminates any pipe re-plumbing issues. Don't forget to block off the breather non-return valve on the back of the inlet manifold.

If it's still smoking afterwards, I'd then start looking at the turbo.

Aye the non return valve has been blocked by miller he said "im using a group A bolt here!" . The turbo has a 2yr warranty on it ..so worth a look

Standard breather setup has two restrictors as shown, they FIT INTO the t-piece and are held in place by the hose clips. But you obviously wont have any of this on your setup if you are doing it Cup stylee

In that case, you don't (and shouldn't) need to run any restrictors then.

If you're sure the breather pipework is plumbed as it was before you removed the original hoses, I'd pull off the turbo-intercooler boost hose & check for traces of oil in there.

Was/is the breather pipe still in situ going to the turbo inlet/'telephone' hose?

    Re: Blue smoke :(

nope theres no breather to telephone hose ...as i did the cup mod ..but obviously not right if the restrictor was in there

Ill let you all know how i get on ..think i might need to dig out the warranty for turbotechnics

    Re: Blue smoke :(

i sorted it! ..went out at 6am before work ...undid the jubilee clips ..were bloody tight ..looked at the t-piece and the plastic bits were squashed ...took restrictor out and i took it a drive ....and all is well

    cheers people

edit -..also got it to work with no problems ..apart from the 2-3k missfire ..which i know is the dizzy gear ..one to sort at the weekend me thinks in the meantime just keep it above 3k or below 2k
