    carb help

    hi, recently noticed i had now choke flap in my carb so located one since fitting the flap i can not get the mixture right starts fine with choke on but will not idle under 1500rpm am not very familer with carbs so not to sure what im doing anyone in the marsh barton/Exeter fancy tring to sort this problem for me? thanks liam

    from my understanding screw the mixture screw all the way in then out 1 and 1/4 turns if im wrong im sure some1 will correct me

    Have you messed with the idle screw to try and lower the revs?

    I thought it was 2 and a half turns but i might be wrong too Rob

    yeah unfortunatly its all been messed about with a guy tired adjusting it up for me and managed to lose my mixture screw no prob phoned renault 98p mixture screw sorted then just struggled getting it runing right

    i dont but i think a mate of mine does.. so i could ask him if he still has it.. have been told from previous owner it has group A carb and a different cam but im not sure. i have stripped carb down everything looks ok having also playyed with the mixture and idle screw i thort i could sort it but i cant seem to i am currently a training mechanic but eveyone at work i speak to says dunno i have asked at the college i train at and they also say dunno so running out of ideas

    So did he adjust just the mixture screw? or the mixture and idle screw?

    Sorry you just posted as i posted. Could be the acc pump jet letting fuel trickle down on idle. tTake the carb top off and see if the brass nozzle on the side of the venturi is trickling fuel. It shouldnt be leaking on idle.

    problem is i cant really get it to idle under 1500 if it goes below it cuts out im sure it a simple fix i just no nout about carbs

    ok just 1 little problem tomorrow would be a bit tight time wise for me as i would need to be back at mine about 4pm so the wife can cook some t for the kiddies cant give them 2 macdonolds in 1 day
