Massive power? Like what, some say 180bhp is massive, where as some with say 250bhp is massive....

Also what about the engine? Whats been done to that.... no point in having a massive blower with huge amounts of boost if you haven't got the engine sorted, then you need to sort the fueling, cooling out...

Track cars dont need huge amounts of power to be fast

I think i know of 1 person that ran 250bhp but NEVER used that on track, you don't need to. I had 176bhp and that was plenty quick enough at Rockingham, Nurburgring etc. Good enough to hussle Megane 225s out the way

    T28
    Forge FMIC
    carb adjusted to 18psi
    OE bottom end and head

i forgot to put the cam on the list, i was thnking off the top of my head...

"yeah to be fair 180-190bhp stripped 5 on the track will play easily with the big money spenders"

    thats exactly what i want..

i was thinking of using the huge front mounts off ebay.. look good enough.

if that the case il look to get 180-200 horses.

it sounds like i was jumping the gun a tad, just excited thats all. hehe

You say price doesn't matter and in the next breath say it has to be reasonable,so how far are you willing to go?

Full bottom end rebuild, pistons, liners, balanced lightweight parts to start.

Is that really needed? With a correctly fuelled carb an uprated cam and say a T25 at 16psi, a standard engine will not be too streached or an I wrong?

If you have good compression on 4 cylinders, it's not smoking and it's been looked after? I bought a 2nd hand C1J that was known to be good, dropped it in, had the carb adjusted, hey presto 176bhp, 174ft/lbs

Depends how you want to go about it, just drop a lump in, or are happy to rebuild your own so you know it's all new

Very good answer. I had mine fully rebuilt just for peace of mind. As I could not do it myself it cost a fortune though! All that just to sit off the road with only about 2k miles of use!

Big laggy turbos are only really suited for dragracing such as a T28
The best turbos for a track car would be a t2/t25 or a full t25

    110k is just run in

Mine's done 150k - at least 20k have been on track, and hard (when Mart drove it anyway ). I personally think that you should never crack the engine open unless you REALLY have to.

And for sure, for only ~200hp, forged pistons & rods and steel liners certainly aren't required.

Re: Best turbo for big power

First thing to help assess the engines health is a compression test, as long as the readings are within 10% of each other, its a good start.

New plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm. Plugs wise, the standard plugs or Ngk b8 evx's...or even the Campus plugs

Flush and refill the cooling system, make sure it's doing it's job...is the thermostat ok and is the fan cutting in as it should? Is it cooling properly and generally good all round ie not losing water and pressuring etc

New engine oil, pretty much anything other than just a mineral oil...

Find a turbo that'll suit your needs...

Ask someone to help tune the carb for boost...20psi requires a bit of fine tuning as some jetting works well on some engines and not so on others.

I've only been a GTT owner for a few months, that's what I've learned and it works well

Maybe upgrade the intercooling...carb freeze will **** you right off ...
