thats the one i was thinking of looks good in my opinion
That's the puppy
whats it like for scratching etc when you doit matt? it looks like it would be a nightmare thats what slightly puts me off
There's a Nissan Skyline round the corner from my work that gets a rattle can respray in a different colour every few months. It was last done a few weeks ago, outside, uncovered, on the driveway (which is now 37 different colours), and the best bit, in the rain
As you can probably imagine, it looks stunning
Oh, and it's got one of those silly DTM spoiler things on the back. And for a few months it was actually fitted the wrong way round
It is a nightmare .Only do it if you don't care and are willing to blow it over every day .Only solution is to laquer it but that ruins the effect .
Mine has not been out of the garage for more than half a hour since I did it so I don't know how it marks up on the road but I'm thinking it will not be pretty .
you can get 12 cans for 35 quid! is any paint any better than any other?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12-Cans-Satin-...item4838db7fc7
Local and very good .Pop over and have a gander at the GTA before you start
Was that the paint you used clee?
Was 12 cans enough to do your whole car?
Clee, i have used mine in all weathers / conditions since doing it. Yes it does mark more easily that conventional paint but its not as bad as i was expecting
BTW, i used all 12 cans or Simoniz?, was just enough for a 5, IIRC
That's good to hear .I'm not that bothered but as the thing was white before I'm expecting a few obvious marks .
did you rub it back or prime it before paintning clee or just go straight at it. at least my cars black to start with i guess
Ohh yes .
You need to prep it well .I hit it with some 800 dry all over then filled all the little paint chips etc ..Grey high build primer , flat off then finish prime then satin .
You can't rub any errors out of the satin so you need to prep well and spray consistently to avoid striping ....
It will never be perfect as the satin does show up any slight variance in the undercoat .Just try and get the prime coat as even and constant as possible .I think I put about 5 layers on the bonnet and 3 on all the other panels .
Do the bonnet off the car first and get your technique sorted on that

WOW!! i never thought anyone would b able 2 get a finish like that from spray cans!!!iv got a 5 bare shell in my garage which i was collecting pennies 2 get sprayed but im thinking bout getting a big box of spray cans!!!!!!
I did hit the bonnet with 2500 and fairy liquid to correct a few bits but the rest was left alone .The bonnet was given another coat after though .
Flatting off the satin is possible but only to even it all out for another coat .I found that the ' shine ' of the under coat has the most impact on the finish coat .
persoanlly kenobi save up and get a proper spray. If you just wanted a blow over theres a place in burton that does cheap sprays. They arnt pukka , but for what your planning it would suit me thinks.
how cheap dj?
depends really on the amoutn of prep etc. Once my cars back ill show you some pics etc and supply the number for anybody interested.
the whole front end of my 5 is matt black because i like it like that, easy to flash over after a while when it chips up a bit, just left it as it is straight from the can.
built up the satin on a bonnet once then rubbed it down with 1500 an you get a nice smooth matt finish, got to build it up lots though!!
