    Re: Fuel Pump

My fuel pump is from a merc I believe, holds pressure fine and flow for my 16v turbo conversion.

    Bosch part

    0580 254 910

Cheaper than the cosworth pump which people go for.

    take yer pick

you just want something that will flow as much as your injectors at 5 bar.

cheers andy , i was jst left a bit confused after speaking to AVA today.

he says i should really have added a swirl pot , at the moment hes left the standard pump in pos as the draw from the tank and then added another pump after it .

i thought it would just be a case of adding a new pump that will flow the injectors ?

yes, you probably should use a collector.

Ideally you have a low pressure pump that has sufficient flow to feed your injectors that pumps into the side of the collector, with an overflow pipe from the top of the collector that returns to the main tank (ie tries to keep the collector full).

You then have a high pressure pump that has enough pressure for base pressure (3bar?) plus boost pressure, plus whatever you get as a drop through the system (hence my 5 bar suggestion), with sufficient flow to keep up with the injectors at full noise..

The pressure pump is fed from the bottom of the collector, goes to the rail/regulator, and the return comes back to the side of the collector.

I'd put the fuel filter between the low pressure pump and the collector - no pump likes to suck. Just make sure that the collector is clean before you start.
