    port forwarding / torrents ?

i am trying to download some stuff using u-torrent but noticed for the first
time that there is an exclamation mark with a red circle around at the bottom
of the page . when i hoover on it , it says
"not connectable , a firewall/router is limiting your network traffic .
you need to open up a port so that others can connect you"

anyone know how to fix this please ?

I've 'heard' about this probelm when folk use utorrent. The following website helped them get it straightened out:

    http://portforward.com/

It's not entirely simple and can be a right pain in the a*se. So I've heard.

If you're using utorrent, there is a test button that you can press to recheck the port to see if what you've done has opened it up. Check it after every small change you make to your settings.

Set yourself up a static IP then forward the port of your choosing for that IP, I would just use the normal uTorrent one, 6122 or something like that.

Any snags feel free to pm me
