clutch options, no valeo's about, anyone used techniclutch

Ordered a valeo from GSF last monday and was told in stock, got to wednesday and got a call saying they havnt got any and would have some monday, then got a call today saying again none till next monday? Engine has been out for the last couple of weeks just waiting on this clutch...

Theyv got the sach's, but from what iv been told its not as uptot he job as valeo. Anyone know the whereabouts of a valeo clutch? Or if anyone has one can i have it and il replace as soon as gsf get them in/or just buy it from you?

Seen these techniclutch on ebay, thoughts...

Last time I spoke to valeo they were on back order there, this was about a month ago though so might be different now.

gsf part number 189RE077 LuK brand. for 25v6 and v6 turbo? - listed as the same as the valeo 801299 - could be wrong though.

Just had a look on the system we still have it built on there, checked files which got from valeo and was on the last one received back in January this year. Selling cost to customer is around the 200 mark though ouch. Without ringing up valeo im not sure if they have stock though but might do some time, with both GT Turbo one and the GTA. Are they available from any other supplier seeming that GSF have started going over to sachs clutches

Yes for 25v6 Turbo and GTA Turbo I think Sachs do an uprated one but its not cheap ??
I'm just trying to find a supplier with stock or something else that might work . GTA V6 not up to the job .
A610 one is available from Renault but over £350

Sparkie, Dale, what have you guys got in stock/can get hold of in the way of a standard spec clutch kit for a gtt? Not interested in any high torque jobbie, as I'm only running o.e power.

Got Sachs in stock, and can get LUK or national within a couple of days. Pass on the valeo, none in stock and dont order that much from valeo so would be a carriage charge on that as well.

What's the preferred choice these days?

Ironic as it is, but in all the years of owning gtt's, I've never had to order a standard spec clutch

That will be 25 v6 2.8 I think Dale , not Turbo .Does it list engine code ? I don't think it will be strong enough .

Pass on the preferred choice. Like yourself never put a standard one in, but we mainly supply in sachs clutches to the garages and have no real complaints about them really.

Ill speak to Valeo first to double check with them for stock.

Else LUK unit which can get within couple of days but they definately got stock of it. Both of them I recon £200 for unit plus delivery. I will speak to the parts department to see if they can sort out delivery else I will sort it out. Ill also speak to them about paying over the phone as well, else I will sort it out and you transfer the money over to me, dont mind either way.

More than likely Sparkie will get this cheaper but best would be around £67 but would have to speak to the parts department about that, then plus delivery on top.

Yes granted, companies can get it that cheap, but willing to sell on with no profit? Not sure on the true cost of that part to us as there is always rebates and other things not included in the price of parts. But I worked out what sort of price we would sell to our best trade customers then took some more off. GSF might have better buying powers or not make as much money on them, im not entirely sure with that. See what sparkie says with the price I guess.

National Clutches work out at £45 inc vat roughly, none in stock though but could be ordered in some time though.

    "anyone used techniclutch"

Don't they just use some of the clutches mentioned above and paint them red and pretend that are something special?

Sometimes adding the AP racing or centre plate or the other make from Mardi Gras Motorsport, I forget the name.

totally agree. Someone has been reading the supplier catalogues. no chance in hell a distributor will sell it to you for £40+vat, unless you're his busom buddy, sh4ggin his sister or you're actually a distributor yourself.

as for how much i can get it for, i'd rather leave in your hands bigfoot....

The mark up on some items os crazy!! The companies also can take your trade account away if you sell parts too cheap.

we mainly get that with garage equipment, problem being our branches dont see it like that, they see the profit figure and always say we can do it cheaper than that. Running costs go all the way up the company, its not just the branch wages and running costs.

luckily we don't have that problem at GSF, cos not only do they have to reach turnover target, they also have to do it within margin!
unfortunately garage equipment tend to run at a rubbish margin and wreck a branches margin for the month, yet the turnover would be good. - there are systems in place to get round this though.

its not listed seperately. its under the number 189RE003 part number, you would have to specify sachs though. as its one of the suppliers listed. if you dont specify i bet you get an LuK one.

I used techniclutch once! brand new paddle clutch slipped like mad at 15 psi. I never did find the reason 100% but i think it was only a std 5gtt cover plate painted red? Just put a valeo one in in the end. Just so you know as it may help, Unipart clutches are valeo units so you could try them?

exactly my point. my brother fitted one to his XE corsa, it lasted 300miles and the fingers collapsed on the (red) cover plate. it was about £200 to buy, we fitted a halfords on that was about £70 at that lasted perfectly with over 250bhp
