    t25 turbos

hi just wondering which is the best t25 turbo you can buy and where from?as so many ppl do them, cr turbos, gt tuning, ktec, cgb. my car is nearly finished now and want to treat it to a new t25 before it hits the road, if i can hit 200 bhp i will be really happy because i will be doing trackdays with my mate and his fiesta rs turbo.is it possible to hit 200 bhp with a standard cam. i have an uprated cam but i have a spare engine which is standard cam and might rebuild it as a spare track one

All but one of those companies you've listed don't ''do'' turbo's, they merely buy them from an actual turbo company and put a rediculous mark up on them.

I had someone pm me last week saying they'd paid £600 or more for a standard T2 from GT Tuning recently, when you can buy one for less than £300 direct at most places.

    Re: t25 turbos

I got a t25 from cr turbo's, the smaller one so not to be as laggy, at 17psi at the actuator, reading about 15psi on my boost gauge, im geting 190bhp on the rollers, i dont know much about the engine, i thought it was standard but where the power is suggests it has a 285 or something in. I traped the 1/4mile at pod at 99mph and the clutch was slipping.

I would say a smaller t25 like iv got will be spot on for track as it wont be as laggy. AdamL who just replied above works with turbos, maybe pm him and see what he can do, like he said gttuing/ktec will be same products just more exspensive.

    Re: t25 turbos

yeh i meant supply the turbos that i know about , so do you have the 47 rear t25 from cr turbos? they do a 49 rear wonder how much lag difference there is, my car has a t2/t25 on and i just cant get the power down, the wheels just spin for fun even with toyo proxes, so i thought a turbo with more lag would help me get off the start. cr turbos are doing the t25 for around 580 inc vat is this reasonable?? what actuator would be best to use?

yer i thought the prices where pretty resonable, and itl come with a good enough actuator.

Yes mine is the .47 rear, and 17psi on 13's even in 4th itl spin...

I would have thought the .49 having more lag would be worse, as when it does give you the boost itl be a bigger bang...

Id say the .47 is for you, you say you want to use it for track days and hit almost 200bhp, this turbo is capable of 200, and will be good for track as less lag

Id say the .49 will be more suited to 1/4mile setups

But if I'm right .47 turbine house fits for those T2/T25 hybrids which has a T2 turbine wheel, and the .49 is for the T25 turbine wheel.
And I think the more lag is not because of the .47 - .49 difference, but the turbine wheel size.

I have a T2/T25 hybrid from GT Tuning but it has the std. .35 turbine housing. Adam L told me that I can change the turbine housing for .47 but I do not know if it's worth the money. This 'upgrade' is also available by GT Tuning (stage 4 -> stage 5) and offcours they tell it is worth the change.
Has anybody ever made such modification?

    Re: t25 turbos

Lots of people have used the .47 in the past.

Like Jim has mentioned, the .47 is a T2 housing, therefore it'll only fit a T2 (standard) sized turbine wheel. The .49 is a T25 frame housing and you'd need the 55 trim wheel to go with it which was used in a variety of Saab's, Nissan's and the most commonly known Rover tomcat's

My question is how much it would increase the lag if I change to a turbo whit a 55 trim wheel?
Because what I like in my current T2 hybrid is that I have the boost just over 3.000rpm.
What can I expect by only changing the turbine housing from .35 to .47?

    Re: t25 turbos

My view on the .47 i run, It pretty much comes on boost about the same time as a standard t2, a tad later maybe but i havnt really noticed it, and then it will easyily pull to the top end of the revs compared to a standard t2 which runs out of puff pretty quickly.

For me an ideal turbo for fast road/track and light strip - which is what i use it for, fast road, and take it to pod a few times, and am up for some trackdays to
