    r5 suspension top munt

ive got a nockin noise comin from the drivers side top mount and theres movement in and out ive bought new top hats in the past but i think it might have gone oval. i dont know weather its fixable or not what can i do. i know new top mounts are unavailble from the past posts. should i just get some solid adjustable ones and if so what are people using?

i would just get some more new ones (refurb)
they do differ though, some are welded all the way round
and are thicker than others i have seen/used.

Top hats might be worn out. I had a slight knocking on my gtt & when i took strut to bits the top hat had obliterated into a million pieces. The other side was cracked/worn too.

Its possible the donut is worn out aswell, they go soft over time.

The top mount doesnt cause much knocking unless the cup has come off the plate. I found the bolt holes wear/snap before they fall to bits!

    Re: r5 suspension top munt

ive got poly doughnuts on there the spares i have i gold top mount mint one black one has slightly ovaled and the piece that goes on top of the rod where the nut goes like a little top hat has a ridge cut into one side of it where its been rubbing ovaling the top mount i suppose this is whats happened with the one on my car. i also noticed the the drivers side wheel has very lightley started to rub when on full lock since fitting the clio subframe and wishbones but only on this side full lock to the left.

Are the poly bushes a good fit in the top mounts? when my old polybushes went really soft the cup rubbed against the top mount like yours has. Imo the top cup shouldnt rub any side of the top mount?

no doughnuts are fine the center of the shock where it goes through the top hat looks where all the movement is. maybe the tophat is cracked i put one brandnew one on and cant rember which side it was.
