    H.I.D in morettes

    im going to be fitting a pair of morette twin headlights soon and was hoping someone could give me instructions on fitting them? or is it simply a case of removing the oe headlamp then fitting the morettes and pluging the wiring harness in situ.?

    Also i plan to fit a H.I.D conversion kit.! does this seen ok ->
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hid-Xenon-Conversion-Kit-H4-HI-LO-BI-XENON-6000K-55-W_W0QQitemZ160287884974QQihZ006QQcategoryZ72235QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

    question is, how would these work.? would the h.i.d only work on the outside lamps? i dont plan on using the inner lamps anyway.

    sorry to sound silly but get confused of which low/high/dipped beam is so....... would i still be able to use dim beam with 1 turn of the stalk and then bright beam with the second turn? also will i still be able to use flash by pulling the stalk..?

    You just put single main 'bright' beam bulbs in the inners.

    The loom should couple them to the main beam at the outer lamps.

    They all work together with your normal main/dip control.

    Re: H.I.D in morettes

    could someone explain to me what is which im always getting confused with all this dipped/main/side/flash stuff

    is this right

    sidelights= 1 twist[small bulb]?
    main beam= 2 twists[big bulb]?
    dipped= pull[big bulb]?

    sure it was mention that with some h.i.d kits depending on which you get you loose the sidelights or something

    Yes H4 is outer.

    Inner may be H1 or H7.

    I have 5gtt morrettes a few meters away. Maybe I'll get up and have a look to see if theres an inner bulb.

    Re: H.I.D in morettes

    Last week I also was looking at getting a pair of HID. I've lost the link though.

    There are quite a few brands / makes on eBay for various prices.

    Hard to tell what the quality is like.

    Would the option to be able to replace bulbs be a good one? Some of them look rather permanently wired.

    The above and one other claim to be 55 Watts instead of 35 watts. Maybe that's true?

    side lights = little bulb, very dull one for twilight.

    dipped beam= normal big bulb, i.e around town at night

    main beam= brightest light, the one with the little blue dash light. (dazzle everyone)

    Never even thought about these lights until I saw them on someones 5 at ND, a black 5 with morettes, audi tt engine, think he said 340bhp..... Anyway they looked the nuts.

    Wouldnt mind some for my normal headlamp housing, i.e non morettes.....

    Are these 35 Watts? The others claimed to be 55 Watts. Can't actually tell what this vendor is selling.

    Side lights are the tiny little 5 watt bulbs that are pushed into the outer morettes under the H4 bulb.

    The inner pair of lamps are another main beam.

    A standard H4 bulb is 55w / 60w and the HID's are 35w this is the power consumption but due to the higher voltage it can generate from the ballasts the more heat hench the cleaner light they discharge.

    Yeah didnt bother looking at the link sorry, but the watt is only the power that the ballast pulls and standard wiring will be good for 80w. If you want a more powerful light you want the higher K output, but 6000K was about right when had them.

    No, Kelvin is the colour temperature not the power rating. Higher Kelvin = LOWER light output.

    The bulb is the load and pulls the 'power' not the ballast. Although there will be some wattage used by the electronics as current is turned into heat.
