WORLD SERIES BY RENAULT SILVERSTONE 20th & 21st AUGUST 2011
As the RTOC events are all early this year the World Series Renault event at Silverstone would be a great event for the club to support & give us a chance to meet up in August?
What is it?
For those of you who don't know about it, the World Series Renault, click HERE.
To sum it up It's basically a Free Day Renault put on at Racetracks throughout Europe and the UK's turn is on the 20th & 21st August at Silverstone & is a great day for you to bring the whole family too and experience Motorsport!
There is plenty to see and do if watching cars racing round isn't your thing, there are stunt displays, new Renault models on display, A small fairground (usually the old Waltzers & Dogems), A few kids bouncy castles & obstacle courses etc!
This would certainly be THE event to bring your family along to in 2011!
How can I be part of it??
Well as you are the Owner of a Classic Renault you have the opportunity to take part in the day with your pride & Joy!!
There is a special collectors area right in the centre of the Silverstone Circuit and every year the organisers allow 300 collectors cars in to show off all the older models of Renault to the visiting public & it's a great opportunity to speak to people who used to own a car like yours & share their memories!
To exhibit your car at the event you have to download a copy of the registration form and send it off with a payment of £10 per vehicle.
The collectors registration forms have just been released HERE and as mentioned the space is limited to 300 so plese make sure you get your name down sharpish so you don't miss out!!
By entering with your car to the collectors area you are automatically entered into the Concours Competition where your car will be judged in a number of categories:
1. Best Pre 1979 Renault Car - (excluding sports and modified models)The RTOC has been lucky enough to have two members win both their class prizes over the last few years AND win the Best Car in Show.
2. Best Pre 1979 Renault Sports Car - (all Sports & Alpine models)8. Best Renault in Show - (all vehicles at the meeting)
3. Best Post 1979 Renault Sports Car - (all Sports & Alpine models)
4. Best Modern Renault Sports Car - (all Renaultsport models)
5. Best Modified Renault Car - (all years & models)
6. Best Renault Powered Car - (all years & models)
7. Best Competition Car - (all years & models)

If you're lucky enough to win the Best Car in Show, your car is then automatically entered into the Meguiars Club Showcase Competition & you & your car are then asked to present at the NEC Classic Car Show in November where you are competing against all the other car club winners throughout the country (such as Ford, Ferrari, Mini VW etc) which teaches you a few things about how clean a car can actually be!
But the event isn't all about cleaning your car! KrissyM was invited to take his Cup Car round Silverstone last year for a demonstration lap of classic Renault Racing Cars:
Can I make a weekend out of it??
For SURE!! And this is the best bit!!! In addition to the Event during the day on the Saturday and Sunday. Renault put a Gala Evening on at Whittlebury Park Golf & Country Club on the Saturday Night!
The event is hosted by Renault UK and usually is attended by a famous star from Renault's present or past (Jean Ragnotti is usually there). The cost of this
evening is Adult £37.50 each / Child (14-16) £22.50 each and it is limited to 100 places only on a first come first served basis!!!
