Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Millie & I are currently mulling over the idea of the going to one of the Renault World Series's in France or Germany as well as the one in the UK. Anyone else interested in going??
The French one :francais: is going to be at Le Mans on July 18th - 19th (only 2 weeks after the UK one :ujack:) :crap: and the German one is at the Nurburgring on September 19th - 20th.
Looking at the proximity of the events I guess a trip to the Nurburgring might be a better option? However I did think that it would be nice for us to re-pay the french lads with a visit to one of their events as they came all the way to our ND last year??
I've been in touch with Renault Heritage & the Renault Alpine Owners Club & found out that apparently Renault have fallen out with the people who organise the German event so as a result they do not officially support it with their Histoire & Collection Team?! I don't think this would be too much of a problem but wanted to let you all know up front.
Our plan is to take my car and exhibit it at the event rather than just go as a visitor?

Re: Renault World Series Le-Mans (France) or Nurburgring (Germany)
Not bothered about the Le mans one if it is only 2 weeks after the uk. But id be up for Germany in september, we could maybe hang around for a day or so and get some laps in while we are there :burnrubber: :D

Yeah Millie & i would certainly be up for a hanging around a bit longer & taking in more of Germany than a quick dash round the ring!! German Beer & Sausages for the WIN!! :D

Re: Renault World Series Le-Mans (France) or Nurburgring (Germany)
Sounds good :agree: last time went out, my and my mate visited Cologne (Koln). Only a 45 mins journey from where we stayed, and beats hanging around nurburgring when it was closed. Dont walk up the Cathedral though after you had a night drinking, you get rather dizzy with the 509 steps in a spiral staircase.

Re: Renault World Series Le-Mans (France) or Nurburgring (Germany)
If it's Germany, count me in.

Re: Renault World Series Le-Mans (France) or Nurburgring (Germany)

Friday 18th 14:15 - 19:30
Saturday 19th 13:30 - 19:30
Sunday 20th 08:00 - 19:30

Re: Renault World Series Le-Mans (France) or Nurburgring (Germany)
It would appear that this idea of mine is gathering pace somewhat now?? :agree:
Right then i think rather than being at the mercy of the RAOC club i'll see if i can get in touch with the person who is running the WSR German event & see if we can guarantee ourselves some exhibition passes for the event...... so make sure you're all looking to take your Renaults.... :scared:

Re: Renault World Series Le-Mans (France) or Nurburgring (Germany)
Chris, what was the name of the hotel we stopped in when we went last May? I thought that was spot on for the price. Is that one of the ones you've emailed?

Re: Renault World Series Le-Mans (France) or Nurburgring (Germany)
I think we are gunna have to be quick in deciding on and booking a hotel, ive just been having a quick look in my lunch hour and very few hotels within 30miles or so of the 'ring have got more than 1 or 2 rooms available for the RWS weekend!!

Re: Renault World Series Le-Mans (France) or Nurburgring (Germany)
Ive just got some quotes on the ferry from Hull-Rotterdam, it's a good option for those in the north or on the east of the country. It'll be £250 per car with a 2 or 4 bed cabin. So if you have 4 in your car it's only £62.50each. so far 4 cars
Me and Louise
Jaffa and Miller
Brose
Lomo and misses
are all definites for this and will be booking in the next few weeks. Leaving thursday 17th (arrive in rotterdam friday 8am) and return monday 21st (arriving back tuesday morning) If anybody else wants to do the overnight on the north sea ferry let me know and ill add it to the group booking.
Could do with some hotel options exshoppers.

TBH last time alot of us went via Norfolklingand i have to say i felt it was much better than P&O and alot cheaper than Eurotunnel.
The ferry was top class & no long cue for food etc. So for me Norfolkline gets the :agree:

Re: Renault World Series Le-Mans (France) or Nurburgring (Germany)
OK let me just update you on what i've been up to?!
Millie & I have booked to stay at the Hotel Reider for Fri - Sun (depart Sunday) through Booking.com. Click HERE for a link to the website.
That hotel is just 3.4km from the Ring and charging €160 TOTAL for a double room for that weekend so a bit of a WIN!! :agree:
As it stands at the moment I believe Mart & Duncan Grier have booked to stay at the same hotel through booking.com. Thankfully when you book through Booking.com you can cancel your hotel room right up to the day before you arrive so if plans do change you don't lose your money!! :niceone:
We are booked onto the Norfolkline ferry on Friday 18th September 2009 at 6:00am and paying only £17.50 for that crossing  so it's pretty cheap!!
Millie & I are going to stay in Germany for a few days after the event & visit the Frankfurt Motor Show (which is on whilst we're over there) and also take a peek at the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen (lifetimes wish!) so we're not coming back home till Wednesday 23rd but there's plenty of choice of cheap ferries on Norfolkline.com so it's your choice when you come home.
As Penfold has mentioned earlier in this thread the Nordschleife is also open that weekend so if any of you wannabe ringers want to grab a few cheeky laps whilst you're over their for the weekend you can do so :smokin:
Opening times
Friday 18th 14:15 - 19:30
Saturday 19th 13:30 - 19:30
Sunday 20th 08:00 - 19:30
I have e-mailed the D'ARC again (who are organising the event) and confirmed that we are definately going over to the show so definately need access to tickets. I am planning to exhibit my Raider in collectors area for the whole weekend and attend the Gala Evening (if they have such a thing) on the Saturday evening. If anyone else is interested in doing this then let me know & I shall let you have a copy of the relavent application forms when I get them??
-
Re: Renault World Series Le-Mans (France) or Nurburgring (Germany)
Aii mate, Bekki & myself are also booked in at that hotel. Cheers for the headsup about it :agree: :)
If you do manage to get your car on the stand there, let me know please bruv, as if I can wangle getting my gtt on there too, I'll take that for the weekend instead of the Evo.

Breakfast is included at the hotel :) tbh if the numbers are right i think the option of the apartments are good, i have asked how the apartments are laid out, ie 1 master room, 2 double room's and 1 double pull out bed or something...
-
Re: Renault World Series Le-Mans (France) or Nurburgring (Germany)
Ok the 3 apartments are like this...
8 bedrooms, Each room has single beds
So i think that apartments are something like
Apartment 1
2 Bedrooms
Apartment 2
3 Bedrooms
Apartment 3
3 Bedrooms
So i would say 1 Double room & the other rooms are triples or 4's.... now this is fine if you dont mind sharing with the lad's, but if ur taking ur miss's perhaps not a great trip?

Booked as per Mart / Steve email ;) currently coming back the Sunday........
The whole summer holiday is kind of in the air as the vx has eaten ALL my cash :P but it's going to be VERY fast lol
Got a weekend with the gang this weekend and plan to look at sorting some dates around Europe as there are a good few options :)

Re: Renault World Series Le-Mans (France) or Nurburgring (Germany)
Right Then,
I had slept on it & as good as the apartments are i feel there not for us & in some case's its 8 sleeping in 1 room!!
But Gunter's is Empty, We know the hotel, we know the staff....
I have asked them to email me the full hotel bedroom layout so we can get cracking on this...
Gunters is €35 per person/ per night & if you want to stay friday - Sunday/Monday its not a problem...
I am going to stay there Friday - Monday perhaps even tuesday depending on my work load nearer the time.
So then I need a list & numbers for those staying at gunters... I will be asking for a £50 non-rufundable deposit per room by the end of month, as that will save any issue's if people drop out last min.
-
Re: Renault World Series Le-Mans (France) or Nurburgring (Germany)
Those Staying at Gunter
1) Penfold & Miss's - Double Room - Friday -Monday

Penfold, don't forget that my option is only €40 per person per night (based on a double room) only 4 miles from the Nurburgring (versus 14 miles to Gunter's) and if you book it through Booking.com you can cancel it right before the day you arrive & still not lose any money!?
No brainer for me pal & some of us have already booked in there?!
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Agreed. Why is the group being split up again? More laughs come from when we're altogether of a night-time sinking the Bitbergers.
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
As per Steve & Mart's replies. Nice and easy booking with hotel.com and nobody has to worry about sorting the payments out, and cancelation is free. Def better if we are in the group :)
Win win ;)
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Plus there is only one dodgy pub by Gunters. But agreed its better if all together though in a group really.

As soon as I recieve an e-mail back from Sabine the D'ARC girl I will let you all know.
I'm going to get a letter written out in German to send to her also to prove our seriousness!!
Do I take it from that post that the Evo's got the Heave Ho & it's ol' whitey all the way?! ;) :agree:

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Depends on what happens with the holiday (timing of it), and/or whether I can persuade Bekki to be cramped up in a gtt all the way to Germany & back :D

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
That's the least of the worries - Try lack of air-con, lack of stereo/music, harsh ish ride, excessive road noise, exhaust noise, and that's also assuming the motor doesn't breakdown on the way there/back. I can see she'll have a field day picking holes in that lot! :( ;)
GTT Euro road-trips for the fail.

WTF?! (just composing myself before this little rant)
What with all this negative beef?! (Copyright M. Dilley)
1) We've been on several ring trips & never had a man down there or back (touch wood) so what makes you think that your car won't make it?
2) Since when do you use the Evo's aircon?! Haven't you disconnected it?
3) Since when is the Evo a haven of tranqulity with those brakes & exhaust?!
I think your failboat has officially sailed on that post mate & you are now owned!!:laugh::laugh: :wasntme:
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
1) Cue Tom's MR2 from the last trip.
2) If we end up driving for the summer holiday, the air-con will be reconnected. I've been brow-beaten into submission regarding that :crap: :D
3) Brakes sorted, exhaust now has a bung fitted for 'normal' driving.

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
I have booked up my suite at the Rieder
The reason i suggest Gunters was...
What about
Ricardo
Adey
Jesus
Krisy M
Dawn
Minty
The Northern boys...
J With The Raider
Etc...
Rieder only had a few rooms where as Gunters has 10 Double Rooms, 2 Single Rooms & 1 Triple room...
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
There is near on 20 people going to Rieder, so we would have packed out Gunters without those extra people who you have mentioned though. Only way we could have coped was to go to that Hotel which was miles away which could have got everyone in.
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
so which days have you folks booked the hotel for 18th to 20th? 2 nights?

Good lad Penfold! ;) :agree:
As regards the rest of the lads none of them have posted anything on this topic listing their interest apart from J & I believe he's booking a room sharpish? The northern boys (StuTHC & gang) have already booked.
The Reider has 60 rooms so it's not small, we're just filling it up. :D
There's a few more hotels on that booking.com webiste if people need to find rooms.
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Well we can still pack out Gunters with the extra people if they wish to do so...
But Hotel Rieder have replied to my original Email finally and said they have more double rooms available, I have asked them to confirm this and i will up date this tread either before 3pm or after 5pm.

The Ring is an Option, I think most are going to Renault World Series..
We get out there Mid Day Fri 18th
All day Sat 19th
Sunday 20th Return home (although track is open all day)
So i am planning on coming home on Monday 21st.

-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Right, bit of a knee jerk reaction but I've book a single room at the same hotel (thats all they had left) Hopefully they dont notice 2 of us bunking down in it?!
Only thing is Ive booked Friday and Sat night only as I wont have enough holiday for the Monday. Hope we can get back on a ferry on Sunday?!?
Anyone have a list of ferry crossings from Hull?

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Right,
Not had a reply from Rieder hotel- they are slow at replying to the Emails, But incase they are fully booked we can book people in at Gunter's.... I know a few people have phoned me up and asked whats happening...
Simple answer is unless i get an email from Rieder saying otherwise they are fully booked & we would have to do the trip over 2 hotel's...
Also i have found another Guest House in the same small town as Rieder, just awaiting an email from them...

Ive booked 2 double rooms (1 for me and lou, the other for lomo and misses) and a triple room, for miller, jaffa +1.
Why do you need the booking references?
Thats cool, i just need to confirm everything with the Hotel, I dont want to double book people or book rooms that arent needed.

If my cup car is road registered by then and proven to be a reliable-ish car i may be tempted to take it along, if not i will be in my AA ford focus. :)

When I was considering coming I contacted the Hotel Rieder, they said they have 15 rooms still available. They are on 3 hotel websites and allocate a certain amount of rooms to each. This means that although it shows they're fully booked on the link that Steve posted, you can still book directly through them :)

No, ashy pulled out about 2.8seconds after Michelle found out he'd put his name down to go  The booking still stands thou as robbo will now be stopping in that room.
Dawn, that contradicts what the Hotel Rieder told me when i spoke to them to try change my double room to a suite. When i phoned them (19th March) they said they only had 4 single rooms left.
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Oh weird, shall I forward you my email from them, you copy it into an email and try and book via email with them? (using mine and theirs prevoous conversation as an email history)
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Not that it makes any real difference, but Bex & l will be there Thursday night onwards, so I'll text yous if the hotel is akin to the Guest House Paradiso, Fawlty Towers, Bates Motel, etc :D
For anyone travelling back Sunday, we're on the 6pm ferry from Dunkerque if that helps.

Nah, we are all booked in. I only wanted to swap for a balcony so i dont have to walk outside in my pants 1st thing in the morning for a cig :D
But keep that email just incase any late takers come forward and want a room.

:laugh::laugh: More fun if it is though!!
To be fair though Gunther's isn't exactly the last word in luxury so i'm sure it'll be fine!* ;)
*This is no way means i accept any responsibility if the hotel does turn out to be second only to Mrs Miggins guesthouse!

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
I've just noticed that Renault have now launched the Nurburgring Renault World Series webpage.
Not sure what the craic is with the website though as when you click to apply for tickets you are forwarded to a PDF document that I guess you print off which is your ticket?? Have a look HERE.
All those with their names down should print a couple of copies of these tickets for themselves.
I'm still waiting to hear about paddock passes for those of us who want to exhibit their cars.

Yep, that is the entry pass. Eintrittskarte = ticket.

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Going to have a discuss about the showing of car. Definately going into RWS there but might not display as its a holiday rather than just another car show im wanting to go on. See what my mate wants to do really. Is everyone just doing the one day? What day would that be?
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
I will show the maxi megane both days if i'm allowed by ze Germans.

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Steve, the application for this years WSR at Silverstone says the same thing about what qualifies for the collectors area. It is very ambiguous about what can be displayed, iirc some people thought they couldn't display at silverstone because of the wording of the application (alpines, pre 1990 etc...) probably need to speak to the German Stephen Dell equivilent and confirm what can be shown.
If we go for cars before 1990 then a lot that are travelling wont be able to display, including you in the raider

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Been talking to Mart about this for a while. Might be able to make it but waiting for my work diary to sort a few things out. Should know by the end of July.
Probably won't be the same hotel as you guys as I imagine it's gonna be full. May provisionally book Tiergarten while I'm there next weekend.
Could be a new car on the scene for me around mid-September. Don't think I could resist a Ring trip if it is.
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
:laugh::laugh::laugh: Just noticed Shoppers Dad on the thread. If I remember rightly, that cheered up what was heading for a pretty lame night. Awesome.

Sorry guys, just realised I can't make this. One thing I wasn't looking at was my kart racing calender. I have a 6 hour EKC Endurance Championship race that weekend. Damn. :(

Not that it's going to be busy enough at WSR this year but I saw in PPC magazine that they're organising their annual Ring Trip to the Nordschleife for that weekend also!
It's going to be busy there all weekend so I reckon those of you who want to do some laps need to be doing them on the Friday Afternoon / evening!
Have a look at the opening times HERE

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
After this weekend at nd and hearing the stories at track days in the uk from days gone by, i have decided to pull out of this ring trip & trips for 2010.
Instead i will concentrate to work on my cup car & to do a few UK tracks & hopefully a few RTOC members will come along to.
Anyway guys & girls, enjoy this trip. :)
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
I will be dropping out too sorry people!
Hope all that do go have an ace time and all come back safely! :)
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Is anyone still going
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
I am for sure, and I know Big Steve & Sarah still are as well.
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Maria and I are still going but we will be in her Volvo now as Clio is dead, Megane is just a bare shell and not trusting the SLaguna as its rapidly dying. Could only manage 20mph up hills it used to do 60 easy.
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
It is still not looking good for me on this trip :( vx is now 100% getting sold. Found the fault on my car that ruined my track attack on Saturday making me go all slow and easy :( faulty lamba, running lean so lucky it never went pop lol
Sold the hard top and my spare suspension last night and my spare wheels (£1800 in the bank) which helps clear a debt :)
And vx should be going to a new home in the coming weeks, but will be back soon with something a bit fruity as always although it will be hard to top the vx when its on form
So as it stands I have the diesel of doom and no cash :( need to stop the spending and sort some boring life challenges out
Thank fully I got to spend the last month touring round Europe and got my fix on track at the ring also :)
Gutted :(

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly

Shopboy (et all), if you can get your car sorted in time, there's an rtoc UK trackday already in the pipeline for Mid November.
Details on that to follow in a couple of weeks time...

What stories have put you off going to the Nurburgring?? You're one of the hardcore club 'ringers & have been their loads of times & now you're not going on the WSR trip and any more?????????:scratch: I don't understand???
WSR Nurburgring is all about us going to the show & representin the RTOC & not necessarily going on track?? You know yourself that it's a social thing more than anything!!

Steve you have taken it the wrong way, i meant hearing the good things about the UK Track Days, the fun and games that were had a few years back... - Tricky bashing the hell out out some metal armco to put the seats in T-Cup, Bill putting water/methanol in the petrol tank, Dougal getting to the airport with out a passport- cos technically he is an american....
All this fun & games have made me want to do the same, I have been to the ring about 6 times now & every time had a great time, would recommend it to anybody, but for this year i would rather put my time & money towards the Cup car & get myself sorted better for 2010, maybe sneak a track day or two before x-mas... :)

By the way, Penfold & Logg, you both need to either pass your hotel reservations onto someone on here who may be interested in coming or cancel them!
We don't want to be stung with your room charges when we get there!!
I think Brigsy's mate Chris was tempted??

For those people that haven't booked a room, or not sure of their booking, I'd certainly call the Hotel Rieder today, as to my knowledge the only room that was available (as of last week anyway) was Shopboy's cancellation, but that's now been taken.

What a cow's cock load of shananigans :dearme:
Shopboy, have you got an email (or any) confirmation from the Hotel Rieder as to how many rooms we've got & who's in which type of room, or is your list just going on info/posts within this thread?
If anyone suffers the fate of not having a room at the Rieder, there is another (and the only other) guest house/hotel in the village of Wiesemscheid, and that's the Gasthaus Weber Hotel.

I have booked 2 double rooms and one triple, through booking.com, in my name, for lomo and mrs. Me and lou. jaffa, robbo and miller. i have confirmation of this. If anyone has changed my booking they are due a slap as they had no reason to mess with the booking.
Ashy booked 1 single room before he realised he couldn't go, i dunno what he's done about that room. I've rung him tonight but his phone was off.

If anyone hasn't got a printed confirmation of your booking i'd sling a tent in the boot just to be safe  :wasntme:
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
The problem (or not as it may turn out to be) is that if Shopboy booked people's rooms, he'll be the one with the confirmation email (a la my previous post), unless, of course, he's forwarded each confirmation onto the relevant people.
From the fact that gtmatt, Bruce, and now possibly Lomo (to name 3 for starters) haven't had their rooms confirmed though, it doesn't exactly bode well in that respect at the moment... :(

I've just e-mailed the Gasthaus Weber to see if they have any rooms left if some people are stuck?!
Not sure how this mix up has occured??

A lot of the people who go don't bother themselves taking all that stuff but I always do take everything just so I can stick it up the Gendarme's @rse who's tugging my collar if we do get stopped!!
You need (from memory but this is what I take)
- High Vis jacket for everyone in the car
- Warning Triangle
- Spare Bulb Kit
- V5 Document (logbook, To prove ownership if asked)
- Proof of Insurance
- GB Badge on the back of your car
- Medical Kit
You've still got time to get it all cheaply off E-bay. ;)

Right then Campers.... Lets sort out meeting up for the ferry on Friday 18th for those sailing from Dover.
I think we should meet at the Ashford Tesco's car park at 4:40am leaving at 4:50 PROMPT then convoy down to Dover & try & get into the same loading lane for the ship.
The Address of the Tesco's is:
ASHFORD CROOKSFOOT EXTRA,
HYTHE ROAD,
ASHFORD,
KENT,
TN24 0YE
If you're not at the Tesco's for 4:50am then we'll see you at Norfolkine Dover!

Is their no-way you can get someone who's not going now, ferry booking transferred into your name??? Might be a cheaper way of doing it if you've not booked as yet?

Dale, it just says 'Autumn'#146. It has 2 Focus ST's on the front :) It's a special Nurburg edition apparently!

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
mr bean, did you go on the ring?
We got back last night, went sat morning and did afew laps yesterday. I was in a black 4 door 325 e30, doest really help as there were loads on track! amongst us we had 2 scoobys, a e36 325 with snoot green alloys and wing mirrors, a 406v6 coupe and a vw t25 van with posche wheels! had a great weekend, i did 6 laps and 2 halfs starting at halfway, only managed 10:48, wish I had studied the lap on gt4 like some of the others as I didnt know the track at all, oh and i used my redline voucher, wish i had bought loads more tho, would of saved myself a bomb!
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Well, what a great edition!! It has everything and some very useful tips! Ok, a lot of it is common sense but the history and facts are excellent! Not to mention the subtle hints about when on track! I was quiet in work today so read it from cover to cover...Even my business partner who has no interest in cars whatsoever thought it was excellent!! And a free (ish);) lap as well! Happy days :)
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Managed to find 1 mag out of the 4 places I looked at tonight. Visit the town centre tomorrow and hope tescos have got it.

Hmm yeh. Its almost becoming a victim of its own success! Roller-coasters, hotels etc. I think the secret is not to go to far with things like this and just stay genuine. Keep it almost old fashioned! I think the next couple of years will be important for the Ring.
What i did find fascinating is the southern track!! Some of it is still there! I'd love to go search it out when we go!

I would like to do a day out again and have a good walk through the forest... but beleive me would have to be a day out.... we had about 4 hours or so driving through it! :)

I have just cancelled my booking at the main hotel so there is a double room available for the 2 nights. I guess it may be worth contacting the hotel directly if needed - the booking was under Duncan Grier ;)

Jaffa, it's no big deal. When you buy laps you now get a card that you keep and just add more cash onto it when it runs down. The cafe now doesn't take cash, so just use the ring card in there as well, as long as there's credit on it.
Bit of a cash gathering technique for them because I'm sure plenty of people go home with credit still on their cards and many won't go back to use it. Personally I don't like it but I'm sure they think win win. :upyours:

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Where do you get the ring(-piece) cards from? :D
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Steve, at the same ticket desk. You get a credit card instead of the paper ticket, then keep topping it up with laps/credits.
Are you on your hols yet mate?

Tickets are purchased on day, could find a redline magazine with nurburgring special edition with a free lap of track :)
Track day insurance is slim to none as it would be very expensive if you do find it and also the excess will be very high.
Can get recovery off the track but I think it was only just a bit cheaper than just being recovered once off the track but is covered for the year. Thats with ADAC.

yes i went on the ring was 2 up on a gsxr 1000 he was a ring regular even scared me going 2 up on a bike with knee down  and had a passenger lap in a porche gt3 the 1 wiv blue wheels and roll cage, i did notice a bmw wiv green wheels bit bright for my liking :wasntme:
and regarding the card as already stated you add money to it to get the laps simaliar to a credit card can get them allmost anywhere around the circuit and attractions

Most insurance companys just require you to ring up and just notify them. Speak to your insurance company when you switch and see if they offer this.

Dale & Adian, J & Krisy M are staying at mine, less then 5 min drive from my house... but a new beefeater is next door (where charlotte works)
There is a more local premier inn to my house but Eureka park is better for food/beers...

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Still waiting for my mate to arrive, worrying thing is he is bring over the car we were supposed to be going in, but the turbo is kicking in on the engine (td) and dash lights up with warning lights for everything, the other day the power steering just gave up on him whilst driving, I just hope he can make it along.

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Got back at midnight thanks to a 2 hour delay due to Norfolkline tossers not letting us on our booked boat.
Anyway, AWESOME weekend, amazing food (Steak on a stone FTW!) and great company also incorporating two laps of the ring in the Tank aka Maria's Volvo. :D
Got a load of pics and vids on photobucket.

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Well that's us just in the door now, driven since 7pm last night immediately after cramming in 2 laps, had to wait half an hour for the track tyres to cool down before putting them in the car! knackered! but smiling!!!! :D Thankfully norfolkline let us on 3 hrs early at 11pm otherwise we would still be driving! Already making plans for next year, weekend at Spa followed by a week or so camping at the 'ring to get a few laps in every night  (only saw about a dozen cars on my last laps :D) prob around the scottish school summer hols so mrs miller can make it too!:laugh: the more the merrier :D

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Awesome!
Hotel, 'ring, food/beer/weed, weather, company, wsr, car, ferry, driving........all just simply awesome. One of those weekends where everything went smooth and dropped into place perfectly, an example of which was most of us turning up in the same car park on Sunday eve for an impromptue photo op'-

Well got in at 12:30am in the end, after dropping Dave off in Ashford. 250miles in total roughly with him stuck under 2m from my boot.
What a great weekend, such a laugh and nice to meet up with the usual crowd.
Just need a couple of nights to recover especially after being dragged to a managers meeting all day today. It wasn't fun :(

Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Well where do I start..... What a BRILLIANT weekend!! :niceone::niceone::niceone:
Great Company, Great Drinks http://www.durbnpoisn.com/images/faces/Beer2.gif Great Food, Great Hotel, Great World Series Renault & most importantly GREAT LAUGHS!!:laugh::laugh:
Was really impressed with the WSR Nurburgring & from the people I discussed it with, it wasn't only me who thought it knocked Silverstone & the UK event into a cocked hat!!
The fact that we managed to get 6 laps of the full GP circuit (without any joy dampening renault chaperone's) had to be one of the best parts of the whole weekend for me!!
Great to meet some new members of the club and special mention to TOMS-GTT who travelled almost all of Friday night to get their in-time! All credit to you mate :niceone: Of course it was also good to see the old faces & spend more time with you sinking a few Bit-Bergers! http://www.durbnpoisn.com/images/faces/Beer2.gifhttp://www.durbnpoisn.com/images/faces/Beer2.gif
It certianly wetted my appetite for another road trip next year so watch this space for details of a trip to either WSR Le-Mans or Spa! ;);)
As Penfold mentioned earlier his mate's gearbox gave up the ghost on the journey home but thanks to the never give up PMT attitude of this club we managed to tow him back home & not ruin our record of never leaving a man behind!! I was really chuffed to see everyone dig in & lend a hand with this issue & couldn't think of a better set of lads to drive across Europe with!!! Nice one Dale! :niceone:
Right as for pictures I've uploaded a LOAD of our pictures onto my Photobucket account HERE.
I've had an e-mail from the D'ARC informing me of some websites where pictures of the event are posted on. Have a click & see if you can see your car doing a lap on the circuit:
I don't think there is any better way of wrapping this post up than letting you all have a listen to Krissy M's Song :laugh::laugh: :wasntme::wasntme::wasntme: :niceone:
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
I'm awarding Dale the inaugural RTOC beyond the call of duty award :D
T-shirt of your choice in the post ...just let me know the details :agree:
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Great minds think alike Steve! I had the You-tube link copied and ready to paste before I read your post!:wasntme: Quality!
Nic and I finally got home @ 2:15-am after 4 sets of roadwork's with not one workman anywhere! :dearme: The mind boggles! Toll road was sweet though ;)
Firstly, a big thanks for Steve for organizing the trip and all the shenanigans and Stu for sorting the hotel for us! Thanks guys, it'll go down as a weekend to remember! Right from the off it was brilliant! From the steak on stone dinner to the 3 litre glass of beer/backwash everything was superb and that was only the first night!:smokin: I must agree with the general view that the RWS @ 'the ring' blew Silverstone away as I would never have believed I'd be driving the race circuit on a parade lap! Superb! (great links as well Steve ;) ) Sunday was a mixture of shopping, chilling, catching up with friends and a couple of laps of the Nordschleife finished off with an almost mind reading meet up in the over flow car-park. And it wasn't even planned! :D
Monday summed up what RTOC is all about! It was unfortunate for Dave to have his box give up but Dale and the crew soon made it better! The trip to the ferry (even tough we missed the 6 o'clock) was a blessing in disguise! I actually enjoyed the 70mph cruising and my MPG even peaked at a staggering 24.9!! :D...Nice one Dale (and Dave). Dale, Aidan and the Renault 19 should all be given a round of applause! :)....and that goes for Bruce as well for getting messy during the diagnosis! Top job all round!
Thanks to everyone for making it a special weekend and we are already looking forward to the next one whether it be LeMans or Spa...The company alone makes it worth the trip!! I just hope it doesnt clash with my brothers wedding or he'll be finding himself a new best man! :D I'll be uploading my pictures onto here/Facebook tomorrow so feel free to have a butchers and once again, thanks again for a great great weekend!!!!
Lomo & Nic!:agree:
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly
Glad you got 24.9mpg, think mine work out about 10mpg
What cracked me up was on the way out of the ferry they tried to direct the clio into the customs to get the car checked over, so its not just the french which dont realise that the car was being towed
Clee you have a PM :)
-
Re: Renault World Series Nurburgring, September 18th-20th & Ring Jolly

Me tor and my brother got in around 12am. What a great weekend :D:agree::agree::agree:.
Very Big thanks to Steve once again for organising the event. Managed to get 3 laps of the Ring ;) 2 Days at the world series which i drove saturdays parade lap and Tor drove the sundays parade lap with me a my brother hanging out the back of the cab with a union jack flag flapping in the wind showing the Ze germans how's its done:D. Met some Holland guy with 9 EBS cab's WOW!! and a German with 16 EBS cabs and wanted to buy mine :) Managed to visit EBS (ACT) Belgium on the way back to the ferry and spoke to the technical director of what was EBS back then :) He's getting me some bits for the cab and informed me that the window seals i've been trying to sort out for years are from a Seat Ibiza 1990 LOL!!!!
Awesome weekend.

First post!
Hello from Darren & Philippa!!
Just joined up - another "ringer" non-turbo Renault eh?? :crap:;):crap:
We both would like to say what an excellent time we had over the weekend - we met some really great people whose friendship and hospitality was fantastic! :)
Both WSR and the 'Ring were great in their own way - as you say the UK version really has something to live up to now...!
The drive home was something else - the "Dunkirk Spirit" of not returning without a car lived on!
Looking forward to seeing you all again soon & thanks again!:yeah::yeah:
P.S. Our piccys and vid clips coming soon!!

Stu, there's no problem this end with dropping the previously mentioned Le Mans weekend in favour of going to the French ND and/or RWS Nurburgring.
Regarding Spa, I plan on organising an rtoc trackday there for next year, but that won't be until Easter (at the earliest), so not sure how that ties in with your/Steve's plans?
