Re: 11 turbo leaky sunroof
mine leaks too, and has dropped on one corner? havent tried opening it just incase it drops off or something? duct tape has stopped the leaking tho if thats any help;)
Re: 11 turbo leaky sunroof
hi mate,
if you're %100 sure that the drain tubes are not blocked it might be the rubber seal around the sunroof.
it's either moved or lost it's sealing properties due to old age.
I hope this helps.
Re: 11 turbo leaky sunroof
Yeah, it's clearly getting past the seal, I just cant work out how it then gets into the car - that's what the tray is there for, to catch it and let it out via the drain tubes.
Big tube of black silicone sealant comes out at the weekend methinks
Re: 11 turbo leaky sunroof
anyone got a pic of how it all goes together? mines droped in one corner?
Re: 11 turbo leaky sunroof
How do you mean dropped in one corner? The moving metal roof panel itself?
Which corner?
Some photos of the mechanism dismantled etc in my project report over on Retro-Renault.

Re: 11 turbo leaky sunroof
cheers will take a look, the passanger side rear of the metal top sits about 1/2 inch lower than the roof?
Re: 11 turbo leaky sunroof
Well knowing exactly how the mechanism works from having stripped mine down, I think there's only one way that could happen - one of the 2 little runner thingys that is meant to be attached to the ends of the 2 cables has come off.
Re: 11 turbo leaky sunroof
On my 11's and others I've seen, it's always been the front metal drain tubes on the tray ,that the rubber drain pipes push on to,which rust away leaving any water to drain back into the car,I'm sure you've covered this though!a real pain in the ars*!
hope you get it sorted,my turn next:scared:
Re: 11 turbo leaky sunroof
Yep, one of mine was broken off, I repaired it so they are all intact and sealed.

maybe through the outer sides of the seal???
Re: 11 turbo leaky sunroof
Dont understand what you mean. The seal you're talking about is the one attached to the edge of the moving metal sunroof panel yes?
What I'm saying is that yes, clearly it's getting past that seal, I dont think it was ever designed to completely 100% seal watertight to the roof skin. Just sort of a first line of defence. Hence the drip tray built into the sunroof mechanism, and the drain tubes to let the water that gets past the seal to flow to the outside of the car without entering the cabin itself.
Or am I getting completely the wrong end of the stick?
What I'm saying is I dont know how, once the water drips into the drip tray, it then gets around/out of it and into the headlining, rather than just running away via the drain tubes.
