staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
Alright everyone going to get us another dyno day sorted at WGT auto developments in Middlewich, as you might know we have had 3 previous events there with the last one being the big rtoc only event that was featured by performance french cars.
This one will be open to anyone that wants to attend so not only a renault event so if you have any friends who want a pretty bang on reading of there power output then this is for you.
As always tea/coffee/soup/biscuits etc etc will be provided and prices are £40 for 3 runs this includes 2 colour printouts and i cant stress enough of what a good set up it is at WGT and the guys there a spot on always willing to offer advice etc. Just like to add this is a hub dyno and not a rolling road so if you do attend you will need your locking wheel nut so your wheels can be removed :)
address
Unit 12
Valley Court
Sandersons Way
Middlewich
Cheshire
CW10 0GF
webiste http://www.wgtautodevelopments.co.uk/
Normal procedure we need £100 deposit to secure the venue for the day so as we always do ill take 10 payments of £10 and then that means the deposit payers go in the 1st 10 on the day :)

sweet and yes id love to see how its performing, hopefully by then ill be using the 740 injectors and be able to run 20psi'ish, happy days:).
-
Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
damn right mate 20 psi will be nice, what you running atm 15?
-
Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
yeh 15 atm mate, got me afr on now so i can set it up a little better, ive taken it out a few times up the lane and even at 15 psi ive never driven anything like it, the difference a t28 makes compared to the t2 is mindblowing.
-
Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
oh yeah its a fair hike mate, your going from a baby turbo to a good sized one. when do you see full boost? best investment ever an afr kit is absolute godsend
-
Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may

erm, i havent really had a chance to note full boost as yet mate, taking it up the lane im to busy trying to keep it on the road its savage, it is quite late, aag around 3500ish, as for the afr yes its a trick bit of kit got it off daveturbo nearly new at a great price and AEM aswel so its spot on.
-
Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
thats great news fella, and you will be in an r5gtt, will you be running the car to see whats what?
-
Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
cool mate thats not bad at all 3.5k remember you have the .64 rear on there so that will add to it. on a c1j t28s tend to be around 4-4.2k
-

Hope you can cope with the fuel costs! I put my wide band on and the afr was 11:1! Did it want to get any richer! It was a 300 quid a month fuel habit and that wasn't mega mileage, I'd look at a 21 turbo :D

Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
Very nearly wasn't going to make this - the car went on fire! I was doing a few jobs on it getting it ready for the day and the MOT due in the next month or so. All went well and I packed up the tools then connected up the battery. As I was pottering I spotted smoke from the passenger side sill area, then flames! hastily disconnected the battery and my brother chucked a load of water over the area.
Turns out the wiring that runs down the side of the car has been chafed where the harness eye has been screwed in - very nasty.
Chopped out all the burt wires and replaced them with new and all is now well. Could have been game over if I hadn't have been around the car

Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
antony thats not good to hear i hope you get it sorted in time
christ alex thats a right swine but glad you managed to catch it in time
shame you cant make it andy would of been good catch up and have a gander at your motor.
looks like there is only 4-5 renaults running on the day which is a bit disappointing tbh but nevermind, will be a miles better turnout at the efi-parts rtoc only event in sept

Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
Only 3 renaults ? What a shame. Still, it was 3 more than turned up to my Cliosport RR day recently!! Just as well you invited the fords. :)
I had to work today and Glenn's clutch is dead, waiting on a new multi plate to be made.
-
Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
yes mate only 3 renaults ran was 4 in total as gibbo came along. bit of a shame really but i know paul and ash who was meant be running have both had engine problems so couldnt make it and obviously mine is off the road.
thats really bad that nobody turned up for that day mate, they was probably too busy polishing there cars
-
Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
also id have to state that alex's car was really good on the dyno, fuelling was bang on the money and made good power/torque for around 1bar boost

Not too brilliant, only 92 bhp:(
Fuelling looks like its all over the place - so a carb rebuild is required, then hopefully it will record a figure nearer standard.
Worst part of today was when my dashboard clock visor decided to bid for freedom! Prob is its snapped inside the dash and i cant get the snapped piece out
-
Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
Shame it wasn't a better turnout of renaults andy but great results for the ford boys
-
Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
was good to meet you james, as we said might be best do a good strip down and rebuild of the carb and also check the compression before going any further. should be easy enough get another 25-30bhp back

yeah i must say i was rather gutted by the turn out from rtoc members but as said there would of been 3 more running but situations halted them.

Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
yes get one of them kits fella, then give all the jets a good blow through with an air line if possible.
might be worth investing in a new mixture screw and idle valve they dont cost much at all.

Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
Cheers for organising the day Blunty, had a good time. Shame more didn't turn up as mentioned, but it happens unfortunately
Very happy with the way my car performed, not big figures but good for 1 bar boost. More importantly the fuelling is on the money :)
SB, I think a good service is needed on yours. Get yourself a carb kit from the shop and strip it all down, clean and check the jets etc. I'd also change all the filters etc if you haven't already. :agree:
-
Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
Yea cheers for organising it Blunty, good to meet you and a few other members.
Nice to know my fuelling is spot on. I think I need to arrange a visit to see Scoff though, get my boost increased as its running a bit low.

Re: staffs/cheshire dyno day @ wgt 19th may
Well done Blunty, as you mentioned shame that we only had 4 renaults but good to catch up with new & old... :)
Was disappointed to find that Blunty was struggling confirm members, that had previously put names down to run, Blunty works hard arranging these days & does it in his own time for the good of the club....Common decency if you ask me!!
