Big boost R5 £6500 Yorkshire

Renault 5 gt turbo.
This car is not for the faint hearted. Running a standard compression set up and big boost this car moves with responsive bottom end, low lag and up to 31 psi of boost this car shifts.
Running a less powerful engine and smaller turbo this car dyno'd at 220 bhp and would hit over 130 quite easily.

Engine
1.4 K-Tec racing engine, running hybrid BB tuning 330R roller bearing turbo with strengthened Garret housing. T5 actuator. Fully forged bottom end, machined crankshaft, (con-rods, pistons), standard compression pistons, steel liners, K-Tec 285 cam, gas flowed head, port matched, k-tec head gasket, up rated pushrods, valve springs and valves on a multi-angle set-up. Polished inlet manifold and group A carb with oversized jet. Tubular turbo manifold with 2.5 inch turbo elbow, down pipe and tiger side exit exhaust. Front mounted intercooler, mocal oil cooler with braided oil pipes, K-Tec radiator. Stainless steel boost pipes with twin Group A dump valves. Viper air filter. Samco water, oil and vacuum hoses. K-Tec polished Header tank, swirl pot, oil catch tank, brake reservoir cover, rocker cover and turbo heat shield. Up rated starter motor, alternator and engine mounts. High flow fuel pump. Standard gear box with group N clutch. In-car adjustable boost running from 14psi up to 31 psi. At the moment this is running 21 psi, Safe but effective.
Body
K-Tec racing front and back bumper. Carrisma spoiler. Tarmac side skirts and arches. Morrette twin headlight conversion. Fibre glass bonnet with clio 16v vent. Sprayed in one off black to purple pearl.
Suspension, brakes and wheels
Avo coilovers (fully adjustable), 16" OZ super turrismo alloys. stainless steel front strut brace. (also have stainless steel rear strut but not fitted). Braided brake lines, K-Tec big brake package with drilled disc all round and red stuff pads.
Interior
6 point sparco role cage. Cobra Suzuki buckets with Sparco 6 point harness's. Astra GTE digital dash. Racex digital gauges (boost, oil pressure and water temp). B&M short shifter gear stick. Leather gater. Sparco steering wheel. Flooring and boot is light weight alloy checker plating
Summary
0-60 is sub 5 seconds and a rough top end of 140.
There is a slight spot of rust on the driver's side door. I have had an estimate to repair all paintwork and this is coming in at around £250.
This car has over £35k of receipts and is basically a track car built for the road. All work has been done by professionals. For insurance purposes this car has been valued at over £20,000 and selling purposes I have been told I should be looking between £8k and £12k.
Reason for sale is relocation and family commitments.
This is an ideal toy for someone wanting something ridiculously fast but with low insurance costs. Handles extremely well and gives you scary acceleration. Ideal for days at the drag strip and can be a lot of fun when driven correctly.
No test pilots. You will not drive this car until money has been exchanged. If you are wanting to come for a test drive then I will be driving due to insurance and nature of the car but once experienced you will want to buy!!!!!!!

Valued between 8-12k... Who the **** are you talking to? I priced my 2001 S15 at £10k which has had nearly £30k spent on it and you think that is worth 6.5k...:laugh:

Much of that ad reads as straight from the worst days of 'tuners' swindling people ignorant, simple minded and gullible enough to believe it.

Some of us drew a robust line against that kind of thing here in this club and protected as best we could the members who were in the above mentioned category, no doubt damaging the 'tuners' sales a bit.

The car does appear to have a mass of bling and a load of 'A list' parts. But what parts exactly??

As it stands some of the ad is misleading, lacks meaningful descriptions, technical accuracy, especially everything under the bonnet.

There have been and no doubt are are many 5GTT's with around 220BHP that can't quite make 60 is less that 5 seconds. So how does yours? Do you have any proof?

Do you have any dyno graphs? Post them please to prove the otherwise unsubstantiated claims.

There is a genuine Group A carb. Do you have that? Proof please.

"strengthened Garret housing", what housing? How strengthened?

"Fully forged bottom end", you're just babbling cr*p man, jeez! The OE engines comes with forged con rods, do you have different to normal? A 'forged' crank? Forged pistons that are then machined and are also standard compression? Why, how? "up rated pushrods", further explanation please. "machined crankshaft", in what way, is it a new one made from a billet or just with reground bearing faces or just lapped, are the weights removed, are the oilways enlarged? "carb with oversized jet", well that's just such complete cr*p!! Correctly size jets are required! To get the jetting right is a skill. Who did it for you? What did they do?

"Uprated this and that", is 'tuner speak' for 'you've been swindled'! Please state what starter, what alternator, what clutch, etc.

Just say what you've got and leave out the embellishments and guess work. These hurt the chance of you making a sale, not enhance it. And are getting you into trouble with the clubs admins again.

As for 31 psi, with just one jet change? Standard compression? It sounds like drivel. Do you have any proof of 31 psi? Graphs, fuelling accuracy?

Jonny please rewrite this add in a way that complies with the rules we have here to stop misleading ads. Go and find out EXACTLY what parts you have under the bonnet, who made them, etc. Eg, high flow fuel pump?? Is that a Bosch as used in the standard phase one 5GTT?

As for 35k of receipts :rolleyes: So you paid too much for an engine, sold it or had K-tec remove it and fit something else but you kept the receipts and claim that increases the value to the sale? Are you selling in this add everything that those receipts pertain to?

If we let it stand as it is, the club to looks like it condones mis-selling.

Even if we did have a disclaimer saying people can sell 'old rope' for any price and the buyer has to swallow it, the club admins get a complaint from the buyer asking us to do something about it, help them get their money back. What we can do is attempt to keep the ads accurate and ban people who abuse the classifieds.
