is there an onsite petrol pump at mallory or if not will you be able to leave to refuel then rerturn no problem?
-
Re: Latest National Day 2008 Information (18-09-08)
Its about 5 mile to the BP and about 7 to the shell from Mallory- never been to a track I could not leave to get fuel.
Not sure if they have fuel on site but expect to pay £1.30ltr if it is.
So wish I could better 10mpg on track :D get about 80odd miles to a tank and then on reserves LOL (for another £45 fill up :()

Re: Latest National Day 2008 Information (18-09-08)
I'm gonna run mine on track with about 1/4 tank, surprising how much difference the ride height is with a full tank and say 1/4. I have a 20L jerry can to hand

Not sure if there is petrol onsite, if you do need out then your wristband is your re-entry make sure you don't take it off :)

Joking aside it does make a bit off difference with less fuel but just go out with full and come back when empty ;) - dont run out on track!!!!! lol

Is Saturday the main Day?? Will everyone still be there on the sunday?
I only plan on going on the sunday because of my littluns. Do kids get in free?
-
Re: Latest National Day 2008 Information (18-09-08)
Saturday is our National Day...
On sunday its a normal car race meeting...as we are camping over we already have tickets for this event...if you come on sunday I think its £15 entry fee but kids under 14 free I think

Under 16’s free when accompanied by a paying adult. Not sure if thats 1 ticket 1 child though? If we go on Sunday as well, do we have to pay again if not camping?

Re: Latest National Day 2008 Information (18-09-08)
OK.....
as far as spectating at Mallory goes its pretty good....
the pits will be open , over the bridge on the main straight and you can wander about...caution...cars will be moving in this area if you have children with you.....
from inside the pit area you can see the back straight, and upto the hairpin...
best spectator spot by far and best for pics, the hairpin....you can sit on the grass bank either side of the track, good for braking incidents, LOL, late turn ins and general tyre squealing antics...being very close to the track is what makes it so good...
fastest point on the circuit, back straight area, you can drive around to the rear and park on the grass banking....if theres going to be a big slide and general pants browning moment it will be here, as they exit the 100mph turn and accelerate down the back straight .....
DRIVERS.......
the back straight is very deceptive as far as speed goes....most cars will enter this at 70+......theres quite a nice right at the end of the straight so build up your confidence into this corner....
after the hairpin its a downhill left called devils elbow.....again , build up your speed into this slowly, it drifts you out onto the main straight to the right of the track....hit the rumble strip or worse and your looking at 1 of 2 barriers...literally..
the hairpin...great fun and is banked and lulls you in deeper every time....
if it goes wrong coming out the hairpin "hit the brakes"......if you hit the inside wall, its 3 feet of concrete and it ain't gonna move....LOL....
anyone with rear drive cars...caution as the outside of the hairpin is a very RAISED rumble strip....hit this sideways with your foot still hard on the gas...at best, shake your fillings out, at worst, rip out your suspension
BLOODY GOOD FUN THOUGH

all under 16 are free all weekend when with a paying adult, if you are not camping you will need to pay at the gate on sunday and as paul says it about £15.....so you would be better buying a camping ticket (extra £8) and not camping in your situation.

Ive been told that the higher RON rating doesn't give an advantage over standard petrol with a carb. Does anyone know if this is true, cause I'm going on the track Sat and unsure what to put in ?:coffee:
-
Re: Latest National Day 2008 Information (18-09-08)
the HIGHER the ron figure the less chance of pre detonation "pinking"...
we all know this kills a 5 engine so higher ron can be a good thing if your set up to run higher BHP
