rotten raider project...
after not owning this for 5 years, i brought it back from a freind for a decent price, the inner and outer sills were gone, as was the boot quarter, bumper brackets, and inner arch tub:scared:, me being tight, and not wanting to pay a stupid amount of cash to get a body shop to do it set about grinder in hand, brought a welder, lots of sticker flex, and set to work, heres as it stands.....
tucked up ready to be stripped..
http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...s/DSCF0887.jpg
the welder i got from machine mart, £300 vat free day special with a proper dimmer mask..
http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...s/DSCF0888.jpg
http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...s/DSCF0898.jpg
set to work doing the inner and outer sills, made my own inners up and theanks to bigfoot for the link to buy the sills...
http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...s/DSCF0897.jpg
welded the drivers side up, made new jacking point up, and under silled the lot..

Re: rotten raider project...
then set to work on the rear, its not pretty mt welding as im no pro, just a novice, but ill have a go and fabricated the rear panel, bumper bracket, boot floor, and arch tub..
http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...s/DSCF0900.jpg
http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...s/DSCF0908.jpg
if it was seen id have given it to a body shop to do and have my bootm slapped on the price, but i have a young family to pay for, so im on a tight budget :)
cracked open the hammerite oxford blue, and went to town with it, aswell as the stickaflex and under sill...

-
Re: rotten raider project...
Your car is looking sweet, makes me want a standard ish looking one.
Good luck with the door pin removal tool ive got the same tool but i had a stubborn roll pin and ended up ruining the little pin that drops through, ended up getting another pin and she eventually went, the other side was very easy iirc though,

the mig has been fantastic, and with the vat free offer only cost £300 with the mask, it was ideal for the shockingly thin metal floor pans and bits that burn threw easy, the rest of the car and all welds were covered in a thick seam of sticker flex, so it shouldnt rot for a few years
door pins are fitted, and of to collect my new white clock set in the morning , then just a case of fitting the turbo tues/weds, then the project is 99% done:)

machine mart tools are under rated, and the mig welder i brought was as good as a snap-on i i have used before:)

this is about the 4th time welding a car, only problem with renaults is the thickness of the steel, you can somtimes have it on the lowest output and still burn a hole
