Rear brake proportioning valve
My 11T failed its MOT on a leaking proportioning valve.

So I need a new one.
The question is:
Is the 11T unit shared with others such as 5GTT?
Where can I get a new one, other than Renault?
Ta chaps :agree:
Re: Rear brake proportioning valve
You can't buy them new anywhere unfortunately. The R5GTT is not the same but it can be modified to fit. That said, even the R5 units aren't easy to come by these days either.....
Re: Rear brake proportioning valve
OK, thanks.
I'm just looking at a 19 16V unit (which having now found some pictures I think is essentially the same as the 5GTT one) and trying to work out if I could make it work.
Problem I can see is that the two types seem to work in opposite directions if you see what I mean
Do you know who has done the mod before? Any photos?

There are two type.
to 86/09 : 77 01 349 306
from 86/09 : 77 00 674 642
All type of R11 has those types
Re: Rear brake proportioning valve
clean it all up. nip all bolts up and an paint it.... job done till next year. or at least try that ;)
Re: Rear brake proportioning valve
Trouble is, the tester got hit in the eye by a jet of brake fluid from it.
So when I say it's 'leaking' I mean it really is leaking and no amount of paint is going to disguise that!
What I will do though is remove it, strip it down and see if I can recover it with new O rings etc.
Watch this space. ;)
Re: Rear brake proportioning valve
Did you eventually get to strip it down and fix it???
Is the part where the spring is supposed to move in and out?
Mine has failed mot on rear brakes not being good enough and all it can be is this bloody valve thing.

you dont need to strip them , mine failed a few mots for the same
reason on the 19 16v .
a good half an hours work under the axle with a can of wd40 and some
basic tools fixed it everytime :agree:

I managed to get the piston thing that the spring pushes against moving when the brakes are pressed but the mot man tested them again and it has made no difference
