RTOC trackday - Oulton Park, 13/11/09

You may have seen on a few previous threads that I've been harping on about a trackday mid-November time - I can now reveal, that in co-operation with our good friend Steve @ TrackAction-Online, there'll be an open pitlane format trackday at Oulton Park on Friday 13th November.

Oulton Park is a great track, and easily up there with Donington & Cadwell in the technical stakes. Not sure which circuit we'll be driving on (International, Island, or Fosters), but regardless, it's all good.

Normal list price to joe public is £160, but Steve has kindly offered us a price of £125 per car/driver. Additional driver(s) charge is £35, and a passenger can jump in for £10.

There'll be ARDS instructors on-site giving FREE instructions on track driving (lines, braking, cornering), track etiquette, and pretty much everything else you need to know to improve your trackday driving. Definitely recommended.

For the noisy cans amongst us, the limit on the day is 105dB.

Being that it's on a Friday, that gives the opportunity of staying somewhere local of the night, sinking a few beers, and rekindling all those fond memories of rtoc night-outs gone by :D I'll look into local hotels/b&b's later on down the line.

Big thanks to Mart for posting this up, we had a few of you along last year at Oulton (yes Duncan, I remember ;)) and we're lookng forward to another good day out this time.

It will be on the full international circuit and we'll sort out the discount codes and booking details soon, just keep shouting up if you'd like to come along :cool:.

Just an update on the garage option - As a little sweetner, Steve has offered us 2 garages F.O.C if we get at least ten bookings.

The garages there will take 2-3 cars each, which, ok, means not all the cars will get parked in together, but it's somewhere to store tools/items from the boot, or to carry out work on ya car should the need to arise.

Steve assures me he'll try his best to make sure all the garages (f.o.c & paid for) are grouped together.

The first 10 people to pay in full will have their names put against the f.o.c garages.

There'll be a page to enter that code, and on one of the following pages there's a section to enter the club name (RTOC, obviously) & your user/board name - Please enter both of these details so that Steve can keep track, and to also help in assigning the first 10 names to those 2 free pitlane garages.

1) Mart (+ Bex/passenger). Paid.

If you aren't sure about passengers etc just book the main drivers place on the website, the rest can be paid for in cash on the day. If you do book an extra garage please post up on here with your name so I can make sure they are all together.

It's £20 per garage, you can normally fit at least a couple of cars in and plenty of kit.

Im up for this :agree: no money until the end of the month though.

Martin, as you know I'm doing that little track in Germany for 5 or 6 days in early-mid November but not sure of the dates yet. I'm at a trackday at Donington on Monday next week sorting out the dates. If I can possibly be at Oulton I will dude.

Extra drivers and passengers can be added on the day, no problem (cash only on the day please.).

quick question steve, i havent got my photo driving card, but paper counter part.... will my passport be ok to sign on with?

You may need to phone DVLA for them to confirm that everything is OK but that can be done on the day.

You can get a replacement... they say around 3 weeks but normally within a week....

you'll be fine.:agree: I've lost my photo id bit aswell, and have used my passport and driving license paper bit for national day and a track day at anglesey.

MSV circuits are stricter than Mallory or Anglesey..........

Just thought I'd let you all know I'm really looking forward to this. It's my first track day and I'm a little anxious shall we say! :D I've been on track days before but always as a passenger, so I kind of have an idea of how it all works etc.

I've been at the garage today just checking over the car/making sure all the levels are topped up and gave it a quick run. I've also gatherd together a selection of tools and spares etc. Can anyone give anymore suggestions/pointers for the day? :)

I can second this one! Came off in november last year @ druids and into the gravel, as a result my cambelt snapped...bad times.

Ill be coming down with Brigsy i think to have a look.

Good day, apart from it raining late on....nice and damp out on track too lol!

Hope the guy with the R5 Cup Car (Cant remember your name) got your car sorted, hope the multimeter helped!

An excellent day out. Glad my car (and me!) held out o.k. and the rain stayed off until about 15:30ish. Oulton is a great track to drive but it was pretty greasy out there, especially around Druids corner! It was nice to put a few RTOC names to faces also. I'll upload my pictures when I get a chance.

A big thanks to those involved with organising the day. :agree:

Great day out. Absoloutly loved oulton as a track, brilliant !. Really well organised day with good track standards and driving. Thye free tuition was awesome, learned alot for next time.

The old cup car went well for the first part of the day and then encountered afew more teething problems in the afternoon. Still managed 90 or so miles on track

As people have said the track was very damp and slippery in places, saw afew people ending up on the grass!

Really noce to see afew familier faces and also some new. Big thanks to Alex for taking my mate John out on track after the cup car packed up :agree:, Also thanks to the other RTOC`ers for the constant bump starts afer my starter motor gave in :D

Well we had a pretty slippery day at Oulton on Friday but I guess that was to be expected in November! Greasy in the morning followed by a dry line after lunch and then it rained to give us a proper wet track!

Very pleased to see that despite the conditions and having a few red flags along the way that everyone seemed to have a good time and we managed to keep up our main aims of good behaviour on track and little or no queues to get on there. Big thanks to all the drivers that came along and made it such a good day, hopefully we’ll see you all at some more events next year!
