Here's some pics from RTOC at the Pod 04
Its current state is covered in blankets in a garage!;) No my plan is to try and get her out this weekend and clean her up. Ive got a couple of bits to finish off on it as i went back to charge cooler but have fitted a twin cooler rad set up but only a few hours work. Ill get some pics up asap mate, plus im gonna try and get to some meets in her before she goes.
check out Ave and Stu Clarke in the background

yea loved his car, mike did set my car up 4 me few years back and he did make it go well, and did not blow up,guess i was 1 of the lucky ones:p lol, i remember going up against him at the pod nattional day wen he done the 12.1 second run,his car was well fast:)
i spy a midget

Mentioning Mickey T's & sorting his carb - That was my 1/4 mile downfall that year... :crap:
:D
not sticking them on your car and blowing him away with your higher traps was your downfall:sad2:
here's a tip, when you're trying to be quicker than someone else only discuss the things you know will make him slower:laugh: - I've been experimenting with adding weight behind the front bumper to increase traction:smokin:
nah u av just jizzed over the red paintwork
:D
so what did he do why so many people hate him, even tho he has been off the scene for a long time:scratch:,i remember wen i wanted another set up from him he vanished, and my old membership expired so dint no wat happened,i remember he told me he was racing go karts semi pro:confused:,i thought that was wat he went off to do,:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
just woundering if this thread is going to KICK off if someone says the wronge thing
id quite like to hear the background of his car ect :)
i talk in riddles somtimes and there is alway a youtube moment
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZK-5tuRfcM:coffee:
from a photographic point of view all that red (the 5 an cars in background)
do actually ruin an otherwise great photo, because the sky an light is spot
on....
....:coffee:
ok,ok,i get the picture,lol,:)
what was it that happened to the purple efi car that Mike built ?
i have vague memorys of the guy that owned it being stung my Mike but never read anything of the outcome of the car did it ever get finished?
yeah the manifold on that cost over £1000.:disagree:
The shell was rotten to the core, he'd sprayed over all the rust. Mike forged the cheque, that Chris fella who owned the car, used to pay a bill on it. Insufficient evidence was produced and he got let off.
There were quite a few other problems with the engine, it blew up on the dyno or something like that, I can't remember all the details.
... Just a thought, maybe he left masking tape in the sump again:D
Basically, the link was titled www.hybridturbo.com, and it had Mike attempting to balance his shaft with a walk through guide...
I still remember posting that link:laugh:
I'll never forget Marts quote that summed him up perfectly...
"Boy in a mans world"
 :agree:
Short summary:
He was just a skinny, lying prick. People liked him right until they got screwed over by him
funny thing is 2 years if even that before, he was round asking 6ft6 how to fit a dump valve... so ive been told... how true this is well who knows.
ah well he still set a sheet hot time
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1paZ...65824C&index=4
Still say this is his double?
Wasn't Lloyd's car, that he built, running higher terminals than his red car too?
I also remember Lloyd's car was doing 115mph passes, just his quickest ET had the slower 111mph trap. Headwork, valves and cam timing are what made his car quicker :)
The only difference between the turbo's was on the comp side. Lloyd ran a Tomcat compressor wheel, which I can't remember the measurements for, and .48 comp housing. Mike was using the 60 trim T28 wheel with the .42 cover.
regardless of what people think of him......................
the facts are that he knew what he was doing with the r5
those who speak s*** about him ................. well .............. should know better.
after all he probably worked on your car lol.
dont be jealous of past masters .............. 1/4 mile means nothing.
i know who built the gearbox...
:)
:D
Facts? Evidently not...
BB built his original engine.
I spec'd & modified his carb.
Colin rebuilt his gearbox.
Sparkie advised him on cam choice.
CTM spec'd & partially built his 2nd engine.
In short (no pun intended), he leeched info from people off here, ran a, at the time, record-breaking 1/4 mile run, set up a 'tuning' business on the basis of that, then got caught short when it came to light that he didn't actually know that much about tuning.
His final swansong is when he ripped off an old member to the tune of £15k (although a £20k figure was banded around at the time) for an all-singing, all-dancing engine rebuild, which subsequently crashed & burnt leaving the guy with nice shiny bolt-on bits on an otherwise fecked engine.
Mike bowed out of the scene, and the guy, to my knowledge, never got a penny of his money back.
:agree:
Yep, the bottom-end let go. That was after numerous attempts at trying to map it previously though. It was originally running an Adaptronic ecu, which Mike fried 2 of them in the process of simply getting the car to start & idle, then it was converted to Omex ecu which led to another series of problems.
Fair play to Chris for sticking with it. If he kept all those original bolt-on bits, he'll have a nice motor when it's eventually running.
Sorry, somebody paid 15/20k for an engine rebuild?
What was the engine? C1J?
No joke either.
then his ego was over inflated to the core by a walking cum dump, the rest as they say is "history"
Poor bloke as well as he could really drive a car and was even in Formula Renault with Lewis Hamilton and the amount of race trophies at his house and pictures of him with Coultard and Schumacher were great and he does have talent in a car.
Thats what annoyed me, he could have been a contender but got manipulated into tuning 20 year old R5s and ****ed it all up, when he should have been getting sponsership and trying to crack it on the track in the big leagues not mess about with a tuning industry for R5s that makes Fudge all money with a site as good as the RTOC :cartman::cry:
the old saying , "dont **** people off on the way up, cos on the way down you will have no one" never truer. :(
has any one got any pic's of chris's car with the efi?
ohh god this again!
Mike was a good lad at heart. Doubtless misguided at times and MSM turned into a farce.
The facts are:
- he could wield a spanner, working quickly and very neatly;
- he had some good ideas (or at least brought the right people and ideas together) and gave the 5 tuning scene a boot up the arse that took us from 13s territory to 11s territory;
- he could really, really pedal.
Ultimately he fell in with the wrong girl and temporarily f*cked up his life. MSM went sour and he may have been involved in some dodginess, which is really really sh1tty. Can't help but think someone slightly unsavoury was influencing him at that time.
Hopefully he is back on track now. I hope he is racing. :agree:
:agree:
i never had a problem, was always happy and always well looked after... i'm sure i know people who have similar stories (to the bad ones posted) with other companies, such as BB and GDI..... best way is to do it yourself or be prepared to pay over the odds or even loose some money
dont get Martina started on GDI...
some people on here liked him some didnt , and alot of people got ripped off me 1 of them , so just delete this thread cnt stand his name , and every 1 knows the score about ms , and it will be a pointless thread with people going on about him:mad:
Who knows? But it had been about 2 years since anything interesting had happened, then all of a sudden everyone was belting around in (relatively) mega power cars. Whatever. I don't care. My car was slow before he came along, slow whilst he was around and is still slow, or more usually stationary.
Setting aside the latter day MSM bollocks, I don't get the anti-Mike thing. I really don't. Jealousy?
There was a project thread on the old forum. Although the car may have looked good on the outside, there was massive underlying problems with it. I remember Mike even telling me he was having major issues with the paint. Someone said they went to look at it when it was being built and most things were held on with cable ties
I wonder if he left masking tape in the sump too...
unlikely, is there any bit you specifically want to see? If it's specific design ideas there are better examples on the site (there were some huge cockups on that car, and you wouldn't want to copy them by mistake), if it's just out of general interest, then fine :)
I don't think Mike painted Project Fraud, as I will now call it.
to be honest, pretty much all of it, the exhaust manifold was nice. In fact, apart from the exhaust manifold/exhaust I can't think of any other part I'd have wanted on my car. Actually, that's not totally true, I'd quite like the spit and polish, I just can't be bothered with that stuff.
Jealousy ??? Who would be jealous of him ??
The anti mike thing is , becuase people dnt like him thats why.
I disagree with that. I'm not going to get into the engineering side of life, because, frankly, I know foxtrot all about it relative to the likes of Andy. Mike would have contracted out (to CTM and others) all the really clever (or not so clever!) bits anyway.
.. but I saw the car up close several times during the build process and, from what I recall, it was beautifully built. Really. It had been put together carefully and very neatly and it looked, to my eyes, to be pretty awesome. Or at least very very shiny and nice. Mike had spent a lot of time on it.
Does anyone actually know what the bill was? Or the true story behind 'forging' the cheque? How far did it get with the police (remember they are pretty much obliged to investigate any accusation like this!). I remember the guy who owned the car was pretty ****ing dodgy.
I know how much it cost and what went into that car, i also know a few stories on when Chris (the owner) went to get it back and what went missing. Know abit about the court case to but i'm not going to discuss it on here as it'll open a hole can of worms again.
As some people know i have my own personal opinions with Mike after our falling out after Nat Day 2005, its no secret that i did go up to his and do some work for him so got to see alot of the goings on and condition of cars being built.
Right I've found some pic's on me pc of the car in question!
i no quite abit about the whole thing as i was mates with both mike and chris wen this was all kickin off, (still speak to chris, havnt heard from mike in years now) but theres alot of faults from both of them with this car, so its not all mikes fault at all, so for people to sit there sayin he ripped chris off without knwin the facts aint on
as for the car i see it from start to finish tbh, if it was my car id hav changed a few things but then i no wot id hav wanted from the car where as chris (and he will admit this) hasnt got a clue and didnt no exactly wat he wanted and left it down to mike to work out and suggest wot to do, he was asked to build the fastest reno 1/4 mile and money wasnt a prob but then wen alot of things were custom and experimental it took 2 long and thats where all the probs started,
he worked on a couple of my cars and i can say he neva ripped me off, always got on well with him and we were good mates just a shame it all ended badly for him, yes he mite hav took info from several members on here and used it to get the times he was runnin, but isnt that just the same in anything, if ur willin to share the info then dont go gettin ur knickers in a twist wen that person goes and uses that info and puts it in2 effect and it works!!!
heard hes gone bk to racing and fingers xd hes doin well !!!!
Lovely manifold :smokin:
aii must be back in Karts.... wounder if hes got my £20 still... :)
Erm, Mike :cartman:
Yep, that's him. Any excuse to take his top off. Still, at least it's only his top this time
The last time I spoke to him (a few years ago now, just after the "Beargate" scandal), he said he was back in karts, and he was in line to be running a team the following season.
That isn't the problem though. The problem was him taking said info & turning it into a business. Not really keeping in the spirit of 'helping mates/members out', which is what this club has always been about since day one.
And for the record, that wasn't me who came out with the 'boy in a man's world' comment - That was the old skool legend that was Harpo.
But to be fair Mart, I don't think we are talking about the cutting edge here. He didn't steal any intellectual property, did he? i.e. Run drag slicks and go faster? No **** mate! All he did was pull a few ideas from here, and a few ideas from there and put them together, which is no different from what everyone at any level in the tuning game does. That was part of his competitive character and nature.
As for the business, I think we can all agree that a fair few members have earned a few quid here and there working on cars over the years. Sometimes that 'business' gets given a **** Blah blah blah Motorsport name and the mobile number gets dolled out and the 'brand' awareness raises and a few more customers roll in.. Usually shortly before the **** hits the fan!!
I think Mike just took it a little bit too far, maybe got ambitious and over expanded (possibly under some questionable guidance), and then found himself at the point where he was having to cut corners.
Maybe, but then what's that saying about sh1tting on people on the way up...
Ask BB (if you can track down either of the Andy's) what they thought of Mike & his pulling of ideas...
Yeah, fair one. I'm not saying he deserved to keep his mates if he treated them like crap (that's one for them!), just that he's not all bad and that he perhaps deserves a little bit of credit and maybe a second chance? Was always sound as a pound to me anyway.
As for BB, the less said the better!
