5th Feb: EFI-Parts open day & "RWYB" rolling road day

Hi folks,

I've been putting off the idea of organising a Renault-only RR day or the likes at my place because I don't want to be seen as someone who is taking the club for all it's worth. It's happened in the past with other guys and I respect the club enough to not want to lean on it too much for business purposes.

But, I thought the forthcomming open day / run what you brung dyno day might be of interest to a few of the locals and maybe some further afield if they fancy the treck! I need to try and generate some interest in the new dyno services and this seems like a sensible way of doing it. Plus, I'm brassic so could do with the income :ashamed:

Hi all,

I'm holding the first EFI-Parts open/RWYB dyno day on Sunday the 5th of Feb starting at 10am.
This post has gone out to a few select performance car clubs and circles so it's a chance for a day out to visit somewhere new and to talk cars with other serious enthusiasts.

Available on the day, in a first-come-first-served fashion will be 2WD power runs with basic diagnostics - IE boost and AFR plotting. The dyno is a modern SuperFlow AutoDyno capable of holding 600hp+ (1100hp theoretical). Both FWD and RWD are welcome. In keeping with a typical Club rolling road day the running will cost £30 per car and typically consist of 3 back to back power runs. Minor (read "fast!!") adjustments are allowed between runs and printouts provided at the end.

On request I can monitor for knock or charge temperate, etc, depending on how much free time exists on the day.

Especially low cars should bring the tools required to remove their front bumper to aid strapping. High powered FWD cars should remove the front bumper so that we can strap the car even tighter to avoid slip.

Just had a check on route planner, its 3hrs away but be good day out so worth the treck plus get chance to memorize the route as i'm sure my 5 will be heading up soon ;)

Cheers, and thanks Matt, I'll let you know if anything crops up. Hopefully it should just run as a normal club RR day but without the deposit system, just a list on the day and run in whatever order people add their names to that list. :)

Yes mate, and if I were you I would be!! Lol these were my first kids so it's defiantly been a culture shock to say the least. If you have had kids before you will probably find it not all that bad, definatly presents it's own issues tho. Lots of things that are easy with one baby suddenly become difficult with two! Good luck.

LOL I will be going from Princes Risborough (HP27 0JD) through Aylesbury HP19 9PZ(hopefuly pick up Markey Mark + others attending from area???), then through Birmingham up the M6 to the destination.

Markey Mark recons we need to leave Aylesbury around 6:30am, so can meet in Birmingham for around 8/8:30ish?

PFC have been in contact and are looking to feature the day - or at least the french cars there - and has asked if somebody will be able to snap pictures of each car and it's owner along with take notes of results and keep track of who achieves what. Preferably that person should have a half decent camera and know how to use it :)

They also asked for pictures of plots but I can save those in picture form and keep them in order so that is taken care of.

Another photographer who works for a number of mags has shown some interest but I have no idea if he'll want to turn up or not.

I would have to set off at about 5.30 to meet up with you at B'ham. I may be bringing TNT Ross also, so dependant on that I may not be able to set off that early. If I can meet up with you guys that would be great, I'll know after the weekend.

Some good interest from a few different circles so it should be a good meet at least. Next to no interest from the Clio lot which suprised. They all seem much more interested in photo-shoot meetings and country drives. I guess the day of the boy racer really is up :D

I have been to and fro with PFC over the last couple of days. They hope to attend with a photographer, but that is uncofirmed until Saturday. So Gibbo, please do bring everything you will need because there is a good chance that the photographer may not be able to make it. Even if he does, he might not be able to get all the pictures we need for a feature to go ahead, so additional ones will be handy. PFC will almost certainly feature the day as long as we are able to get snaps of every car and it's owner. I will colate the results and plots in the week following :)

Well pussy boys my 5 is out on the road in the snow and believe me it's 3-4" deep off to weatherspoons for breakfast meeting Glenn Robbo stu Brookie Alex and Ollie so will deffo be seeing u at some point come on everyone it's only snow ;)

Yeah does start to lean frm 6k but I don't rev past 6 anyway not bad though for a carb that hasn't been played with for all those years and done 2200 track miles!! Thing is although it is going lean it still wants to make more power...but I don't need it.:)

Big thanks to those that braved the weather, it was pretty mild here as it turned out, great turn out considering so many people had pulled the plug. Got through 11 cars so thats better than I had expected :)

Gibbo did a sterling job with the pictures and I'll compile the results tomorrow ready for PFC. I think there was 4 GTT's that made over 200hp, one was tim's B18FT so 3 C1J's making great numbers.

We braved another degree of timing in Robbie Turbo ted's 16v turbo and managed 462hp @ about 8600rpm. I wonder if many people have fed that much power through a J series gearbox before ??

And thanks to those that helped out throught the day, it's much apreciated lads. :)

Wish i could of come for your First RR day, my 5 will be back on the road in a couple of months, i think another day would be brilliant spring/summer time. :agree:

Gibbo did a sterling job with the pictures and I'll compile the results tomorrow ready for PFC. I think there was 4 GTT's that made over 200hp, one was tim's B18FT so 3 C1J's making great numbers.

We braved another degree of timing in Robbie Turbo ted's 16v turbo and managed 462hp @ about 8600rpm. I wonder if many people have fed that much power through a J series gearbox before ??

And thanks to those that helped out throught the day, it's much apreciated lads. :)

Brilliant day today thanks chris, nice to finally go to my first event with the lads, i was really not expecting to make those numbers, sieger i made 228.2 bhp/204lb at 23 psi but started to drop on the 2nd and 3rd run due to getting hot, need to plumb my front mount in and re-route my airfilter.

Good day out ... Nice to meet some old faces and new .. Made 210bhp on first run then down to 207.5 at just under 25psi ... Seems to hit a brick wall at about 5300rpm for some reason...:scratch:

thanks to scoff for a great day worth the 380mile round trip in snow for the extra 11hp/10ft.last run on dyno made 462.3hp and 333.4ft.:D

With all the experience and knowledge scoff has on our cars he is now the best place in the country to use for our rr days. He has the hands-on experience to diagnose the faults with fuelling etc. straight away, on the day he done extra runs just to diagnose a faults.

It was a great day and a very good setup, always good to catch up with all the old faces and hopefully some new ones.

shows how much tuning our car still needs, as it was rich at 25psi, and made 582hp

and at better fueling at, it made 502hp at just 17psi

only picked up 80hp from 8psi, should be nearly double that :laugh:

i made a bypass roughly 32mm in diameter schwartz, drove up to scoffs after fitting the saab reds the night before and as i hadnt adjusted the maf back down it was overfuelling terribly 10afr on normal driving, luckily Haz was at hand with the aid of scoffs multimeter and fuelling was near sorted within 5 mins:D, its a bit hunty on idle but thats due to not having my idle control valve fitted which im going to refit shortly, im on the search for more power now so currently in talks with chris...

Raising that rev limit would be a major help;)

Glad you got them ok .... Sorry for them being in RAW and not edited :( My bloody laptop give up the ghost! I took in excess of 250 photos that day so hopefully PPC are happy with the results:) i'm currently setting up my own sports photography website, however would happily take photos at septembers meet :) anything for the club and all that :):)
