PFC Featured RTOC RR Day @ WGT in Cheshire 22nd October

Hi everyone iv been in contact with mark dow and david corfield at performance french cars over the last week or so with regards to us lot putting on an RTOC dyno day and i got a real positive reaction from him. They are really up for featuring the club in the mag just as long as we get a decent turnout, which i should not think is a problem with a club this size.

the venue will be WGT Auto Developments in Middlewich, Cheshire iv held 2 days here and any members who have attended will tell you what a great venue and hosts they are.

The confirmed date is sat october 22nd start time of 8.30am.

Price is £40 for 3-4 runs with colour printouts of flywheel and wheel horsepower/torque, can also ask for the fuelling prinout if required :)

As always dave,pip and the gang will put us tea,coffee and biscuits on along with soup and bread and a few other things. There is also a big pub (the salt cellar) at the end of the road that i thought we could all go to after the event to get some dinner and a much needed pint:laugh:

hope you guys are interested in this and it would be great see a few of our cars in pfc plus some publicity for the club :)

right people im 99% done on the deal to get pfc feature this event, just finalising a few things with david from pfc.

the proposed date for this is saturday october 22nd how does this appeal to you all?

also could a mod please edit the title of this thread to pfc featured rtoc dyno day @ wgt auto developments

alright everyone i know its early but wgt have given us 15-20 spaces on the dyno for this date

so lets start getting a list together to see what interest we have in this, remember pfc will feature a few cars from the day so maybe you will be lucky

just a note we will as always need a £100 deposit for the guys at wgt same thing again 10 deposits of £10 each are fine, this then guarantees you to be in the 1st 10 runners on the day. Will start collecting deposits around mid august time so i can drop off to them end of aug or early sept.

Would I be allowed in a non Renault turbo?

If so, I'm down. Just want to find out how healthy my new car is :D

hmmmm think il book the day off for this so i can catch up with peeps! not been on a RR day or national day for a year or two :( my 5 has just gone in to the body shop for the full hit so hopefully have a nice dent/scratch free 5 for that wkend :)

Didnt realise you had got an m5 mate real nice choice in car. You got any plans for it or just going to enjoy what is one of the finest cars made.

peters built the carb up its on the car now so hopefully it isnt gonna lean out now so i can get some more horses next time

Im up at wgt next month to get my car on dyno if your not doing anything why dont you come along and maybe stick yours on see whats what just at 18psi and save the big run for october.

I run a kent rt150 cam and the ports have been enlarged in the head to match gasket size. I do have a ctm head in the loft ... would love to try to fit this in time .... but dont know if i want to mess with car at moment

give us a shout blunty when you and ste go down mate .. would love to attend if i could and play around with the ignition timing as running about 3 to 4 degree retard at mo.

guys we really need to start thinking about getting the deposits paid now as i need to pay it next month to secure the venue for us in october :)

why not arrange to go to the pub after for some munch and a drink, just thinking maybe give it a social elemet.

If there are a couple of extra's last min should that be ok, reason i ask if i have a friend with a renault 21 turbo but hes one of the types you will never get a firm answer out of until the night before.

i cant see it being a problem mate i am sure dave and pip told me the limit was about 20 cars but if we needed an extra 1 or 2 i think i would be able to persuade them.

I'll know by the end of this month if I'm running, it may still be on the base map Scoff did for me, I'm trying to hook up with him the day before to give it a propper map but not sure if that will happen or not yet, if it does I will be in a hotel for the night & straight over in the morning.... :agree:

Im in need of a turbo badly before this after mine let go big time on the van...if i cant get one sorted ill bring my tungy gtt down instead though :agree:

what turbo do you need fella ? or do u need your current one rebuilding, great spirit in still coming in the other 5gtt if needs be :)

I think my t28 is scrap mate, the exhaust impeller or the shaft has snapped?! haven't inspected the damage yet. its a cash flow problem that's stopping me from buying a new one, but never say never it might happen ;)

ouch i still reckon i could get that sorted for you fella, a new shaft or good 2nd hand one could be half the battle.

you got any particular turbo in mind for the next one?

was up at wgt yesterday gave them the potential list and deposit etc, just so you guys know the pub we will be going is called the salt cellar and its just by the roundabout that you turn onto midpoint business park, got a good size car park and i seen its 2 for 1 as well :laugh:
also just to note be careful when driving onto the business park and especially turning right down to wgt as on that corner there is a police station so bear that in mind ;)

I didn't see you, I was on the dyno from 11 till gone 3 mapping and trying to sort boost control in mine. Gave up after 3 hours of messing with solenoids bleeds and restrictors. It's just almost impossible to control 10psi springs at high boost it seems. I thought I had it sussed with some clever solenoid piping. It turned out I wasn't as clever as I thought !! Saturday night special out the window :rolleyes:

oh if I can get my lazy arse out of bed I might actually come to an event for the first time in about 3 years!

Struggling to get my car ready for this :sad2: Need to fit an oil cooler, re-fit the radiator, top up/bleed coolant system and drill the 2nd stange out a bit to see if I can get it to fuel a bit better. Not a lot of work, it's just finding the time.

guys we have a limit of 20 spaces for this i have spoke to dave at wgt and he says that they could possibly fit an extra 1 or 2 in at a real push.

i need a gear box not a 350 quid one as mine now crunches in every gear and a actuator that holds a bar of boost i.e -34........... i refuse to pay £70 quid for one!

all to do by saturday! :sad:

crunching in all gears sounds more like the plate not completely disengaging?

check clutch cable and ratchet. Could be a nice simple fix :D, gotta live in hope :D

Its definitely eaten all the syncros and most of the gears and I was expecting the diff to give way first lol going to car transplants to see if they have a 172 gearbox with speedo drive

thats good to hear andy this is one of the best ways to meet people as we are all in one area, iv met more people in the previous 2 days iv put on than i have at other events.

just to note guys pfc are sending me a form over that ill make 20 copies of, its just to take your details car spec etc etc so on arrival i shall get you to sign the wgt disclaimer then fill the pfc form out :).
Im also getting 2 printouts of every run done 1 for us and 1 for pfc, david corfield (pfc editor) will be with us around 10.30am so ill be getting pics of each car that goes on to forward to him then obviously when he arrives he will take over.

I've had a day from hell from my oil cooler plate bolt snapping and pumping 5 ltrs of millers oil ever where to stripping 2 bolts in the top end checking the cams and my bloody actuator only holding 10 psi ahhhh roll on the morning when I can get it back together so might be late like 10ish

What a top day and a MASSIVE thankyou goes to Blunty for arranging it and putting all the hard work in to it to make it a success. It really is one of the best events of the year. The venue and people there are spot on and they even provide free tea, coffee, soup, biscuits, the full hit!

It was great to see everyone and some new faces and a big welcome to the club to Andy and his lady! Was lovely to meet you both.

no worries pal and that was on a damaged turbo would only make 2.1bar of boost and normaly i run 2.4bar of boost but not to complain the first nos run and fire it made 487.5 lbft torque thats insane there,s all ways next time :)

Glenn's firey engine bay is the star atraction next weekend dave :D

The plastic breather elbow that pushes on to the rocker cover had split and the vapour was igniting on the manifold.

whats robbie running in his 5? c1j? gutted i could'nt get to it, started it for the first time in ages and it was a little rough but all sorted now.

hes got an f7p turbo sounded nice and looked even better

so pissed off i didnt make it but had a sump, mains and big ends off which was a waste of time but its as she said to me why risk it theres alwas next year so off came the sump.............all is fine though not a mark on my bearings just cant believe my oil filter sandwich plate bolt broke from doing my oil filter then ran it and wondered why i had oil flowing out my radiator lmao

i well missed out :cry:

yes ill also say it was real good to see mike there, its nice to see effort made to get to these events, the more the merrier as they say.

Im Pissed off i missed this event, got the 5 through the mot after 7 years sorn that month but the RR day was on my 1st wedding anniversary so couldnt miss spending the day with the wife :) is there another RR day planned for the start of next year or is the next 1 at scoffs work place? last RTOC RR Day I went to was in shirley solihull (Birmingham), drove down there sat nite to see if it was still going but looks like its closed down :(

it was touch and go for me a national day, just got the 5 back on the road after several years and the national day was the weekend before our 1st anniversary luckily :D
