Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
This is how it looked when i bought it back in 2004,
the wheels on it were 17" fox 5 spokes that caught the arches and were very buckled, so i bought these wolfrace ones , also it had a bodged oil cooler stuck on with jubilee clips wich dropped the oil all over the place after about 700 miles :crap:

ebay m8
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RENAULT-5-GT-T...item3a5faec44a
comes with all fittings attached flared ends / measured to lengh , :) , would be cheaper if you bought the pipe and ends yourself ,but for ease and convenience this is best
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
was going to ask why the colour change but i'm guessing after seeing the repair work it would need a full respray so might as well have the car the same colour inside and out including the engine bay.
are you keeping the bodykit or going oe?

yeah going back to tungy rather than takin engine out to get the bay done, also gettin inside the back resprayed tungy ,, its not a bad colour you know i do like it .
ref body kit that ktec bumper came off ages ago and replaced with oe although i have cut a large section out of it new . also replaced oe mirrors and got rid of bad boy bonnet , i liked the bonnet but was rusting through anyway.
fitting oe spoiler and grill also
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
Ditch that body kit its shocking. restore it back into the grey good move to, thank god another Ali g 5 turbo gone forever.
Keep up the good work :)
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy

Hi Dan, looking good! I have loads of sets of rear quarter windows, don't want alot for them, they are getting in the way if you get stuck.
Cheers
Mike
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
Can't you just pull the tint off and give it a wipe over with thinners?
I only say this as I sold my tinted windows and replaced them with a set I had in the shed from another car, I had them re etched with the wrong number blanked out, didn't bother me until I had to explain it to a sharp eyed police man who thought I'd stolen my own car.
I'm gonna replace my windows again if I can find a set without the security marking. The original tinted windows got smashed when the lad I sold them to barel rolled his 5 through a hedge into a field :dearme:
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
never thought of that tbh seems like a pain in the ass of a job , especialy if it goes wrong and i end up with crap windows and not able to get anymore .
Then again there have been loads of jobs that i thought would be a pain in the hoop to do (drilling hinges) but turned out better than expected ,
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
Respray finished , just got to refit all kit etc and get windows fitted :)

Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
Thanks for the comments guys , just been to see it and its finished now just waiting for sealant in windcreen to dry. Im going to collect it in the morning. looks very shiny :)
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
Had a nightmare today,
i went to pick the car up from the garage that took glass and doors out and did some welding on windscreen surround and boot floor and replaced front screen rubers , they also transported the car on a trailer (rented from a scrap yard near by)300 meters down the road to spray shop and back .
now heres the shock , i was expecting about 600euro max ,, nah try 1500  , got him to 1200 cash , but i nearly died, 20 hours labour  ,
ive had to borrow half of it off my mum (lmao) otherwise id be skint over crimbo .
ill hopefully collect it tomorrow afternoon if i can
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
all fitted back together now , its not left my single garage yet for a photo as its snowing and its not fitted with winter tires :scared:. toyo proxes not very good on snow at all :wasntme:.
will have to come out tomorrow though for its yearly test so ill get some then , ill also take for a quick burn depending on the roads to show it off :wasntme:.
:ashamed: i decided to spray the small bonnet stay holder catch thingy in black as it was rusty , i did it away from the car but ive managed to get black spots on the bonnet wing and headlight  ,
is there any easy ways of removing it ? it picks off but i dont wanna ruin my new paint by scratching it after spending 3000 euro
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
Will a machine polish not get the marks out.
As for the windows its dead easy to remove, pull off, scrape the excess glue off with a Stanley blade or preferably those blades people use to chop charlie with ;) then a rub over with tar & glue remover, dead easy honest.
Lets see some pictures to :)
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy

-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
been for a rolling road test today :).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1PIEokaIF4
sorry for crap iphone video.
145.8 bhp , 198.9 Nm at 14psi not sure what 198.9Nm is a guess torque.
im not sure what the results mean tbh if they are good or bad , i think the bhp is a pretty fair figure and im happy with it (for now).
Bit sad getting the lowest bhp out of 12-15 cars. :(.
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
198 nm= ~146 ft lb So would be the torque figure
What sort of performance mods have you got or have you just uped the boost a little?
I wouldn't be too disheartened having the lowest figure most of the other cars probably weighed twice as much. Are there many 5 gtt's in your neck of the woods?
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
Sounds about right for a c1j without posh cam and huge turbo.

no internal engine mods m8 , t2/25 turbo, 145bhp im not dissapointed with it :).
ive seen only one other 5 gtt in 4 years in Germany.
the other cars were mainly focus ST`s and RS`s im never gonna get more bhp than them as most were pushing around 300. my mate took his seat (ibiza) Bocenegra which is a 1.4 turbo and pulled 190 :smokin:.
would be nice to get more than him next time.....

Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
took the 5 in for its test yesterday as i pulled up outside i thought, brakes feel a soft , so got out looked at the compensator and fcuk me a split brake pipe above the rear beam, fluid dripping on the floor , ( thats twice this has happened :-( ,) anyway when it happened last time i bought a complete brake line kit so i allready had the pipe ,, took me an hour and a half to strip replace and bleed,, sweet.

Failed test again today ; stupid things that make me think the guy is a cock.
#1 , Fuel tank breather pipe not in clip.
#2 , clip securing fuel filler neck to chassis missing.
#3 , Adjust wiper.
all these are new things that he never picked up a month ago .
Also advised that new brake lines need to be in proper clips and not cable ties , :ashamed:.

Its for a BFG test, wich is like the German TUV test , i guess they are more strict than the MOT. :crap:
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
just noticed your over there, seems massively overly strict to me, cable ties are less brittle and will last longer than o/e clips, you tried that excuse ;-)
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
I didnt want to gob off to him as i need it to pass  , playing it cool with the bellend. just kept my mouth shut tbh.

Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
Fitted standard wipers the other day , single one on ebay.
Looks better imo and got rid of the clunking.
Also since ive fitted the new ignition barrel its fixed the click click when starting and the battery light does not come on when ive got to many elec things turned on at once. :).
gonna get a Pic up soon.
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
Been to get the tracking done today , The guy says i need to take the rear arches off as he cant get the tracking thing on the back wheels :crap:
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
-
Re: Project Beast , return to Tungy
He should be able to just use the laser alignment on the front wheels, it just makes getting the wheel straight a bit of trail and error test driving. Easy enough if you know what your doing(he shouldnt just take the wheel off and turn it)
-
