16th - Curry night in Durham Saturday 16th Oct
Rights lads I've been thinking about organising a catch up in a central location like Durham where we can get together for a few beers and a bite to eat.
Obviously I've never organised any such event before so bare with me and I'll see if I can pull it off with out any hitches. I've titled this as a curry evening but obviously if the concenous is people would rather do something else or even just drink then thats cool.
So a couple of questions to help me pick an appropriate date.
Would people like a weeknight for this or a weekend afternoon/evening?
Would people like it nearer the begining of the month when everyones flush or a little later?
Once I get the basic info I'll pick suitable dates for Oct and post them up to see who available.
Nothings set in stone though so if anyone has a better location or better venue/food idea then post it up and we'll see what the others think.
Cheers
Steve

Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
Id be up for that, weekend would probably be best.
-
Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
Well... I have been known to love the bait!
-
Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
fri or sat pm for me, easy with food to.
No drinking for me, i would have to drive to durham, taxis would be fortunes.

Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
Cheers for the quick responses lads, I've PM'd Ashy to see if he has a PM list for all northeast members just to get the word out to everyone. I know when I was round his the other week both him and Matt C were up for it so we might get a good turn out :D
-
Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
Durhams cool for me, Weekend would be best... I'm easy any time of the month.
-
Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
im off a few weekends in oct but i'd be up for it aslong as im off work (i do 4 on 4 off) and have the cash
as far as where we go, we deffinately need food and preferably lots of it :cooter: not too fussed about the drink as i tend to get a bit out of control when out from under our lass' thumb but i'd have a few
-
Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
Up for this. Would prefer the start/mid month, but happy to go with the majority :agree:
-
Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
There's a nice Indian restraunt in durham called the capital
-
Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
Id be up for this providing i can get time off work, weekends are typically best as mentioned above :coffee:
-
Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
Just let me know where n when and I'll see what I can do with work n that
-
Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
Right lads as I dont know how to set up poll etc... the easiest way I can see how to do this is by putting the dates down below and if your available stick your name down for that date. Feel free to put your names next to as many dates as your available and I'll try and have the date sorted by the end of the week so people have a chance to sweet talk the partners or work for the night off.
Also rather than posting names below each other can we keep them on the same line otherwise it'll end up a stupidly long page :)
ie
Fri 1st Oct
Steve-Ashy-Matt-Chris etc....
Obviously the date with the most people available will be the one we go for, Ill start it off in a post below so people can just copy and paste it and add there details rather than including all the speil above

I assume everyones happy with going for a curry, so i'm just looking for a good curry house in Durham, if anyone knows of somewhere special PM me or post it up here.
The next question is does everyone want a traditional sit down style meal where everyone orders their own dishes and then we sort the bill out at the end, or would people prefer me to try and have a large banquet/buffet style arrangement where loads of curry dishes are brought out and everyone gets to try a little of everything, this way also makes the bill paying easier as it will just be XX amount per head.
All suggestions much appreciated :)
Steve

Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
I'm game for the 16th, the only Indian i no in Durham is the capital, it's nice. There mite be other ones but I'm unsure, anyone else no of any?

Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
I'd probably prefer to pick my own meal as I'm not a big curry eater... Either way though, whatever's easiest.
I've only ever been for a Italian <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"><meta name="ProgId" content="Word.Document"><meta name="Generator" content="Microsoft Word 11"><meta name="Originator" content="Microsoft Word 11"><link rel="File-List" href="file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5CADMINI%7E1%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5 Cmsohtml1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml"><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <w:DontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:612.0pt 792.0pt; margin:72.0pt 90.0pt 72.0pt 90.0pt; mso-header-margin:36.0pt; mso-footer-margin:36.0pt; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --></style>in Durham so can't help with a good curry house!!

Were looking at an Indians, however I was thinking of ways to avoid the intricate break down of the bill at the end of the evening, especially when 10+ people are involved.
It's just a thought at the moment and obviously nothing is set in stone, if anyone else has any suggestions post em up, :)
Looks like it'll be a good turn out :D

Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
I have done pretty much all the curry houses in Durham. The best is Millenium(imo) but thats in Framwellgate moor which is a mile away from the centre.
I would recommend the Spice Lounge in the market place, nice venue really good bait and you could take your bird there. Not sure if this place would be suited for a bunch of fekin uncouth 'dead taste bud' renault fanatics. We want to slop the food down our shirts and gargle the Cobra withought fear of upsetting someones 'one night out a month'.
Capital or Raaj Pooth in claypath are ok. Probably more room for 10+.:agree:
If all else fails, how about a processed Marks&Spencer micro meal round at Steves?

Re: Curry night in the North East Oct
16th should be do-able for moi, that's if you don't mind a 'suven cockney' gate-crashing your N.E event? :D

Right I'm going to phone up tomorrow and book the fatbuddah for 19:30/20:00.
Theres 16 people on the list so I'll book it for that number, if anyone can't make it now please give me the heads up and I'll let the restaurant know :)
Expecting this to be a top night and really looking forward to it :D
-
Re: 16th - Curry night in Durham Saturday 16th Oct
Fatbuddha can t accommodate a group of sixteen on sat so I've tried phoning the Capital to see if they can. Unfortunatley there closed at the moment so I'll try again tonight :)
-
Re: 16th - Curry night in Durham Saturday 16th Oct
Update- We have a table booked for 18 people at The Capital in Durham on Sat the only problem was they can only get us in at 18:30 for two hours.
I'm happy with that but appreciate that it won't suit everyone. If anyone no longer wants to go please let me know and I'll pass the revised numbers onto the restaurant, as we all know theres nothing worse than doing a large group booking and only half the people turning up.
