We have purchased 40 tickets at a reduced price so space will be limited ( this was based on runners over the past few years )

I think there will be camping that weekend santa pod also has vw action going on as well the gates open on Friday at 10 am. The last few years that I have been going it has been very full but good fun this years Theme party is Happy Days on saturday night.:)

We definitely won't be out in the field, this is more of a testing day for the others that will be there, it'll be a quiet day compared to what we are used to on a regular RWYB day for example :)

no national day is over, this is the next event im looking forward to, ill also be bringing the r5 to this one to get a few runs down, out of interest will there be an option for limited runs to anything, rather than the full day spec.
No, it's just the full day option unfortunately but for £60 that's awesome. It's not the usual RWYB day, the place will be heaving with ridiculously powered tuning company cars and the track will be fully race prepped, which we've never had before :D

Hi, i have a friend (who used to be a member on here actually), is there a non member price for this event..
I need to put half of my interior back in after the huge amount of welding that I have just had done, then mot and tax it, then see how my new front mount performs up at 24lb boost, would like to try and push a few more psi through it but not sure if i will have the time before pod. Might be a case of trying it on the day:scared:
I'm actually looking more forward to driving it down as it's been almost 9 months since i drove it properly on the road, slightly concerned about breaking it at pod tho, i had the luxury of a recovery truck last year.......and in the end it was a good job i did as the oil feed adaptor on the turbo snapped whilst i was putting some heat in the tyres.
I will buy my ticket once mr MOT man gives me the thumbs up for another 12 months.

10Pm is a bit late! Can't have the best of both worlds I suppose, my bro has just rang Santa Pod and they said we need to speak to the people who ticket the vw show as the ticketing is down to them.
Another option is maybe a different campsite not to far away from pod, I will have a look for something today when I get 5 Mins.
Or could just purchase a full weekend ticket and go on the friday and make full use of all the entertainment.
Childcare for me tho is an issue, we were lucky enough to get the Saturday/Sunday in the first place! Can't imagine the grampys being that impressed with another day/night of childcare:laugh:

I've just spoken to the VW Action guys and struck deal .You need a ticket to get in to the event Saturday evening as it is marshaled by the VW people not Pod .

I think the overall idea is a good one, and I should imagine for those that do camp on the Saturday it will be a good crack given all the entertainment laid on by the vw guys.
I personally thought the tickets went on sale a little to late, and the camping issue should have been raised sooner.
But then again, if like me you were always planning on attending this event, I like most people won't finalize things untill the last few weeks anyway.
I hope this doesn't spell the end of the rtoc pod day, as it's always been for me an enjoyable event.

I can't see how putting the tickets up earlier would have helped .It's always like this with last minute purchasing .The camping ,well that was an afterthought I agree and the VW thing has complicated it but we have done our best and secured a deal so I really cant see what more we could do .

Maybe the fact its a sunday and its sharing it with other racers has put few people off or the camping situation maybe, i know this has put me off camping this year.

There will poss be some RTOC officials there on the day to buy tickets to run but I can't be certain hence why I said these were only in advance .Pod may also have tickets to run left on the day .
34 full ticket packages left .If someone wants the entry only then I will split them out .Might as well try and get some of that back :agree:
If you are attending then please buy the ticket through the club if you can rather than on the day :)
I'll even go so far as to send tickets and trust that you'll all pay up on the Monday after if pay day is an issue :)

Enterance on the Sunday is £10 on the gate, then it's £50 to run, that totals £60 for entrance and running. Ticketing on the Sunday is down to pod not the vw event.
I'm sure clee would post you a ticket out or a ticket to another member for you to pick up and pay for on the day. Its no big deal really ad the club has purchased 40 tickets, I'm pressuming that whatever the club doesn't sell on they won't get a refund for?
If you want to make tickets available on the day then as carcrash has already offered or indeed me or any other long term memeber I'm sure wouldn't mind having some tickets sent to to keep for runners who want to pay on the day. Seems a Shame to put people off just for this.

Well blyton was a good hit and this pod day mixed with vw etc and the crap summer we have had , don't think it's lack of support .

I think the general idea this year was overall a good one:)
The camping could have done with being organised better but the fact it's clashed with the vw event is out of our control.
As has been stated September isn't a good month, as it's the last time for a lot of people to go on holiday, hence lack of funds for other things. The fact that ticketing on the day has been a little confusing also hasn't helped, the nature of our cars means that a lot of people won't commit to buy months in advance incase their car ends up broke or in a million bits as most tend to at some point:laugh:
This coupled with the fact that as a club in general the attention is shifting away from performance facts and figures and more towards restoring and preserving our cars as o e examples, and the track day side of our club has also increased since I first became a member.
Pod doesn't flote everyones boat, I fully understand that as to be honest track days don't really do it for me hence I haven't been to a National day in years. It would be a shame from my point of view to scrap a pod day on the basis of one year not being as busy. I understand that financially as a club/organisation sometimes decisions have to be made to preserve the clubs future and i will respect whatever decision is made with regards to next year.
I think if the event was earlyer in the year and National day was a little later, camping was better organised and the event as a whole was pushed on the boards/facebook ECT a little more we would get a better turn out. Like has been said if next years ends up the same then fair enough time to shelve the idea. :(
I'm willing to help in anyway I can to put towards the organising of next years event, if we have one.
As I have said before, I'm gratefull for everyones input into this years event and I'm looking forward to a cracking weekend and hopefully we will get a few more runners turning up on the day.

end of the day though, its not massively difficult to rock up to pod and organise a meet there in the future if we need to, it doesn't have to be an officially organised one, its just it'll be busy is all, that's whats good about the RTOC pod days, you get a lot of goes and primarily the queues is what puts people off pod. they don't like spending 80 quid or whatever on a Saturday night special to do 2 runs. on the RTOC day its the car or driver that gives up first, not the availability of the track! :cool:

Seemed to be a lot of people signed on for a test & tune day though. I only done 4 runs and waiting 30 mins + in the queue for a run which was dissapointing tbh. Just seemed like the old days where a handful of us used to rock up to a rwyb day.

Well I went, and what I saw wasn't what I was expecting at all. It was like we were trying to gatecrash a VW event! I swear the woman on the gate chuckled when I said I was there with the RTOC! As Brigsy said, it felt more like a 'normal' day that some of us turned up to, like the old RWYB days. We didn't even appear to have a dedicated parking area, unless I missed it :scared:
On the plus side - It was good to see some different stuff at the pod (there was some crazy stuff going up the strip), and there was a lot going on, as our days have always been a bit quiet, and empty. At the same time though, that 'exclusive' feeling wasn't there. Although 1/4 mile doesn't appeal to me, I've always loved our pod days. The feeling and atmosphere, that the place is just ours for the day, followed by an evening on the beers, munching a dodgy bbq, and having bucket-loads of banter, is always awesome!
Overall though I had a good day :cool:
I also got there and back (190 miles) without having to refuel the car. That's not happened for a few years. My computer is telling me that I've still got another 260 miles worth in the tank - Clio FTW :D
Had a good day met some nice chaps. Managed to get 6 runs in, dissappointed in that respect. I was under the impression that the track was 70% ours... Not a rwyb. Managed 14.9 @95mph due of me and Phil sharing slicks I ended up not getting a go with them on and couldn't put the power down in 1st and 2nd. Car was emptying the bowl. No matter what I did with te carb. Gutted really as if we had the track exclusive i could of done spme more 'test and tune' work.So new fuel pump and some wiring is in order for big boost. Car went well, after I fixed the gearbox that was! Well well. Thanks for the weekend. Shame more peeps didn't turn out!
I had a good weekend all in all, I was amazed at the turn out for the vw event.
Without a doubt the track was much better than I have experienced before, just the ques were a problem, I managed 6 runs all day inbetween making some rushed changes to my carb, compare that to 20+ at last years pod day and well there wasn't really enough time to test and tune.
I didn't manage to get the time or terminal speed I was after unfortunatly, and then at 4:30 it started to rain so they shut the strip half hour early also:(
A lot of breakages also on the day held things up for the runners.
Was nice to see a few fives turn up and to put some faces to names so to speak.
I just love the whole atmosphere at pod, it's a petrol heads heaven! I hope as a club we can sort something out for next year and if not then it will have to be rwyb for us in the future.

I enjoyed the day, good excuse to get the r5 out, certainly was pretty damn busy, im going to guess if it was a normal test and tune day there wouldnt of been half as much, however the vw crowd ramped up numbers big time. I couldnt run as my car has an issue with currently running very rich on idle, as as such sooting crap up etc however it was still very fun to watch, shame about teds motor chewing the dust straight away, but i guess thats the way it is sometimes .

Was a long drive home on my bill ... but got home safely .. good to meet up with old and new people .... just cant believe how busy it was ..... Managed to do 4 runs and ahieve a pb time but not terminal speed ... wish i could lauch the car better .... Managed a 13.9938 @ 102.57 on road tyres ... i was happy with that :)
perfect track and weather but no rtoc parked area for members or for mike gt turbo spares to set up his stand:( my luck ran out on my jc5 gearbox the diff bearings gave way when i lanuched so that means my new 21turbo driveshafts that i fitted are up to the job as i was breaking driveshafts every week.plan for winter months 6 speed gearbox conversion.ps can we have are own pod day back please for RTOC .ORG
