Mallory 2011 Track Layout
As you all now know we have booked Mallory Park for ND 2011 :agree:
As this will be the 3rd time we have been to this venue Mallory have offered us a few options to mix things up a bit in terms of track Layout.
You will see the track layout below which shows a number of extra corners that can be added.
https://www.rtoc.org/files/Club%20fil...es/mallory.JPG
The bus stop is purely for bikes so that one is out but the other two are possible.
So the options are:
Leave it as it was in the previous 2 years i.e the normal track.
Normal Track Plus Charlies & Stapletons.
Normal Track Plus Edwinas.
Normal Track plus Charlies & Stapletons AND Edwinas.
You can select more than one option if you like, say you weren't bothered which chicane was added but wanted at least one you could select both.
We dont want to change the layout once its fixed becasue it could be dangerous if you went out in the morning on the normal track and then suddenly a new corner appeared in your second session.
Mallory don't need this information until 2 weeks before the event so I will let this run until Friday the 20th of May.
Please try to keep this thread on topic.
Regards
Ashy.

Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
Brilliant idea, I don't mind which option we go for but it would be great to add in corners to change the track from what we are used to. :agree:
-
Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
What about going the other way round?
-
Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
The pit lane then wouldn't work properly if we did it back to front

I believe someone actually did this this year.... :scared:
-
Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
So would adding Charlies & Stapletons and Edwinas into the mix :D
Adding those gets my vote, as that'll help turn it from a boring oval'esque track into something a bit more technical :agree:
-
Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
Normal Track plus Charlies & Stapletons AND Edwinas.
More corners the better for me
-
Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
I've voted for options 2,3 and 4 :D whilst the basic circuit really does suit the point and squirt style of my car I think the added corners should liven things up a bit, obviously it could swing massively in the other direction as your effectively reducing the overtaking opportunities

Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
-
Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
Overtaking is with permission only anyway so makes little difference :coffee:;)
-
Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
Slicks only allowed if a cage is fitted :agree:
-
Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
Do you have to ask to overtake before you go out?

""We dont want to change the layout once its fixed becasue it could be dangerous if you went out in the morning on the normal track and then suddenly a new corner appeared in your second session.""
Whats wrong with both...? Cant see it being that dangerous Ashy..it would certainly give people more for their money..:)
New layout and old layout?
I say this for those who might be using this track for the first time as it really is a good track for those track virgins out there... Have it the usual layout in the morning and then for the afternoon session see if Mallory could possibly change it to the above suggestion during the lunch break?
Just a thought..

I would agree more corners the better for me, it looks a fast circuit with alot of straight, mix it up a bit. Got to give the little c1js some sort of fighting chance

Track very brief - ing.
Last years briefing was " You have been here before so you all know what to do"
" lunch is at 12.30pm"
" only overtake on the left"
" Here's the flag board that shows you what is what"
half the flags they were using were'nt on there!!
" See you all later then, bye"
The red flag was the one i remember :crap:
-
Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
That was one of my points on the list this year to make sure was sorted, have been discussing it in the CM section :)

Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
this adding the turns in has made me want to do the track, i was just going to coem for the crack!! :) Well done
-
Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
Gerads best corner of circuit and breaking it up will lose this but tbh happy with whatever the layout is having more corners will cause the powerful stuff to stuggle more, not the biggest track in full open layout but think it will help encourage non trackers to go out and should slow things down a bit. Downside could be if people dont use mirrors and track dont use the blue flag a bit more :coffee:
Could end up as a convoy :wasntme:
Think as we have had the same layout the last few years it will be interesting to experiance a different layout and looking forward to it. Certainly tighter track suits the 5 :agree:
Will actually track something this year after I ended up with nothing last time

Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
Yes , could get a bit congested so we will probably have a limit on cars on track at any one time .Suck it and see on the day .

I think this is a great idea, i have done a fair few croft days and there is a time slot for a number of cars i think 10 a team and then they do 15mins a time, Unsure if this would work, people may think 15mins isnt a long time but belive me it is !! :)

Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
i'd go anywhere......:) tbh...............another hour or two on the motorway makes no odds when its a full weekend..................as long as its in june or july for more chance of the old current bun on our backs............................ any ways the more bends in mallory to slow the fastest cars down might not be a bad thing this year... the circuit will be more about driver skill than pure bhp......er poss:confused::confused:

Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
dose it really matter bends in bends out isint it about the rush of adrenalin when you hit boost and you start smilling as for over taking not a prob as long as there is room .
adds to the experiance and the fun of tryng to get back past

Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
You will have to change the ND stickers to add in the bends too!
-
Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
Adding chicanes just makes an otherwise fast and flowing track harder work and less fun, IMO.
The exit from Gerrards is one of the most challenging parts of the circuit, seems a shame to turn it into a braking zone :crap:.
-
Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
Word is that we will be able to change the layout if required on the day .We can do this at the lunch break .I'm for just putting Edwinas in as the other two will probably just cause a traffic jam .
There will be a wide spread of abilities and more 'RULES' this year so we are trying to make it friendly for all :agree:
-
Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
yeah the addition of"get outta my way u useless cnut" horn will be welcomed widely i think
-
Re: Mallory 2011 Track Layout
I'm with you Clee, I've just been watching a couple of vids on you tube from ND and those straights aren't the longest to start with.
With the inclusion of all the corners it'll end up a procession which will frustrate the experienced members with a lack of overtaking and terrify the first timer as they'll have more braking points and corner lines to worry about.
I think with just adding Edwinas it would add enough variation to keep everyone happy.
