French ND @ Florenville is early June, so somewhere between late June to late July (when the kids break up) I reckon.

Or store the bread and coffee in the car
Any weekend which will be warm ish will be fine, was a nice time of year this year, it stayed light for a long time into the night plus weather was good if a bit breezy.

Typically, just minutes after posting the above my phone rang. Im being posted to Yet another Op Tour. 6 months at least. I've just done 2 years operational overseas solid, and had 10 months out of what is supposed to be 2 years 'harmony' in the UK. So 4 out of the last 5 years I will be missing ND. I Will be leaving the twins at 14 months old - the best age, and the wife on her own to look after them...
We wonder why the forces are all totally Fing threaders and leaving in droves.
Sorry for the moan.

Its a bummer that fcs tends to be on the same weekened as ours (happened 2/3 years ago), but such is life.
We have to book venues in advance, and we dont get many dates to choose from.....
-
Re: 2013 RTOC UK Festival
big bummer to land fcs and nats day on the same day, so much that id even say if thats the case hit mallory up again >?

Re: 2013 RTOC UK Festival
I'd be tempted to go to FCS any other time but to be honest I see no attraction in saxos, Burberry hats or combat body kits so its not much of a loss really.
Besides ND is only 20 mins away from me so its a no brainer.
Hoping to get the blue meanie there this year too.
If anyone is interested, I can recommend a good hotel 1/4 of a mile from my house so you'll only have the 20 min drive the next morning.

2012 Prices, what I spent:
£60 Ticket/Entry (includes track time) ***£10 for just entry***
£40 Travelodge (camping this year :scared:) ***will be cheaper the earlier you book***
£120 + Fuel (I did come from Staines. 170miles each way plus track time)
£40 Beer/drinks/food (for 2 people)
I could have saved a lot by pushing my car to the event but thats no fun!
-
Re: 2013 RTOC UK Festival
I might have phrased the question incorrectly.
Big Steve, what's the entry going to cost us this year? When will tickets be available?

Yeh most likely going to be down abit... but nothing we can do. We have an agreed date, and most likely to late to change the dates now with out incuring a cost.

I would of thought most members would attend the national day over a generic show anytime?

That's all well and good but we booked our nd in September 2012, when was fcs date booked/announced??
-
Re: 2013 RTOC UK Festival
its just unlucky, nothing can be done about it..... soooooooooooooo positives are :D should keep the chavs away?
Should some ideas be put forward for this years ND?
Should the ideas there be discussed ie costs/benefits and club decided rather than all on a minoritys shoulders?

Here here - I've not been to the FCS for going on 8 years now for the above reasons. I don't know if it's still like that, but I was bored to tears looking at XXX Ice installs Brapp brappp and Ali G shizzle on Saxo's very poor. Is it still like that?
~
Not that that matters of course, because I'll be with the RTOC as always.:smokin:

This is actually a very good point , and TBH - It should be that the RTOC should be mixing it up @ the FCS.

Quite possibly but one of the last shows i went to with the 5 was the RS annual meet and tbh most of the guys there couldn't have been less interested in the "classics" that were there. I think things have changed and the real challenge is identifying were we now fit and exploiting that.
As to the dates, it's a done deal, bickering about it is about as fruitless as it gets.
-
Re: 2013 RTOC UK Festival
To ensure we had a date for 2013 we provisionally booked the 2013 date soon after 2012.
We have to draw a line in the sand at some point and we picked that date which now clashes with FCS (which I didn't think had much of a following from the RTOC  )
Apologies for this clash but I'm going to leave it to the members to decide where they would rather be.

Don't be daft!
A few questions if I may-
1. - Do you like beer?
2. - Do you like cars?
3. - Do you like Beer and Cars?
If the answer to 1 and 2 is yes, we'll assume 3 is a positive.
It's just a weekend to get back to our man (routes / roots)?? All are welcome.

Re: 2013 RTOC UK Festival
DAFT??busted my balls last year bringing my LHD German coupe cup car i was being sarcastic due to the dates clash with FCS and everyone moaning about Blyton last year ie show and shine and the evening shindig attendance may be down, this then causes tickets to be sold onto other peeps who turn up in non French cars and then the moaning starts again this is just a observation from a long term member:)
-
Re: 2013 RTOC UK Festival
Can it be made Rtoc law that you have to wear a name badge all weekend with username and real name?
I really struggle speaking to folks who I only know as a screen name and no idea who they are in person.
-
Re: 2013 RTOC UK Festival
Here's one for a member to take on? Who's in the trade who can get hold of some cheap name holders? As a new member last yer I didn't have a clue who anyone was really till it was all over.. Quick fix to awkwardness really.. Hell if its £20 for 100 I will even buy them for you :)

Haha. I'll just lean out of the window and put it back on the wheels.

Would be nice to see some of your race cars there.

Thanks. I have a Mk1 golf and TS race car, but cannot afford to use them at the moment.
It is tricky too, as I dont have a towing licence, so I usually have t get one of my parents to tow things around :ashamed:
I think the golf is fairly equal to a Cup car on slicks, so it could be fun to bring that along.
It would be nice to finally put faces to names... I know I have said that before though

The campsite is the best place for that. Loads of food, beer and banter and the occasional wander from dale when his alcohol content drops below 80%
