Everybody ready for national day..
Ive still got a list of jobs to do on the van :crap: Praying for parts to turn up & weather to hold out.
Springs to fit if they turn up tomorrow, were supposed to be here monday but not here as of yet:rolleyes: Might have to fit me half knackered avo coilovers as last resort. Whats annoyed me most is the month delay in the koni's from the manufacturer, should have had this sorted ages ago.
Tracking to sort after suspension.
Oil to change.
Fuelling check with wideband on.
Buy booze then ready to go..;)
Anybody else got the last minute jobs to sort?
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
Suspension struts issues, geometry also now all over the place, food & drink to buy, likely to be turning up in the Megane now. Great!
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
Make skittles vodka
Pack bag
READY!
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
Apart from being unable to get the mapping finished due to the clutch the only thing I haven't done is make up some carbon scuttle covers, well that and buying lots of Vodka
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
Fill the car with petrol, attach the rear speakers, wash the car, maybe wash the car again can't think of anything else yet bound to be something that needs doing.
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
i cant quite afford this in my own car. need some bits bearing going/ gone ball joint . front brake pads, exhaust too loud, dodgy water pump from gsf 2 months old bearing failing , asap job , put old one back on and get another new one sent
was going to go saturday to watch and meet but the mothers car aint going too make it now by the looks of things :(
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
fit ducting to front brakes, buy a tent, get food and drink, get there
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
Erm, with out wanting to jinx myself.... i am ready.... even my car is packed :D
Only thing is to fit the 285 Brakes and pads on friday/saturday morning.... one of the PMT boys will have that pleasure... i dont get my hands dirty.

Drill and tap my good friend ;) - sort it :D
Not much to do myself - setup actuator with a home made pressure bleed system with guage on (still to be made lol) so I am back to correct boost and check levels, sort a faulty gauge and clean car :D
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
A cobalt drill bit might get it out, if I had one, but it's a hub off job, and even then it's still only gonna be a fudged repair. I'm far from fecking chuffed, and it's even now putting the 'Ring trip in doubt  :sad2:
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
Is it not worth taking it to somewhere to get it done? Got to be worth it to get on track at ND & Ring!!
Chop chop
Can't cost that much to get done?
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
Well........weld new lambda boss in downpipe, start engine to see if valve stem seals i fitted last night have cured my smoking issue, map it on the rollers, fit cage, fit last of the vinyl, finish of fitting cage in Emma's car, fit lowering springs on a glanza, map crx on rollers.....my brains fried, i'm sure there's more but i can't remember just now!
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
GTA is ready :agree:
Apart from finding out where the smoke is coming from in the bay when under booooost  I can't find any leaks ,it's got good vac and boost .I think it might be an inlet plenum seal to the heads .The engine is shoving out a ' little 'bit of smoke under heavy breaking but that'll help me going into the hairpin ...............They shall not pass
Could pop the 330 cc injectors in and up the booost but perhaps I'll do that on the day , towards the end of the day ......wot you reckon Scoff ;)

-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
Ready?? Er NO! :sad2:
This has to be the worst i've been prepared for an ND this year but it's not through a lack of effort, everything just keeps kicking my face in!!
Raider - Just collected the wheels from my mate who's refurbed them & got the tyres re-fitted THIS AFTERNOON. Then i've got to clean it weather permitting.
Clio - Hydraulic Clutch Actuator & seat adjustment rails fitted so as Millie can drive it on the track done :D but now the clutch is slipping :crap::cry: so i'm having Thu & Fri off work to try & rip the bleedin engine out & replace the clutch! Got a clutch kit today - Thanks DG! ;)
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
Steve, has the Clio just started slipping after the actuator was fitted??????
if so, I'd check that before whipping a large one out.....
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
Unfortunately yes it was :(
It started to slip after my 13th consecutive run up the strip on the 4th July Pod Day but after it cooled it was ok so i figured happy days?!
I then fit the Hydraulic clutch actuators & again it's ok until you start giving it some of the larger bananas in the bunch & then it starts to slip!
I tried to pikey mod it last night by spacering the actuator out a bit but that only lasted about 10 minutes on the lowest boost map before it started to slip!!
Therefore I'm going FOR THE WIN & going to tear the whole bleedin lot out & replace it!! Can't be that hard eh?! I'l just follow both the VW & Renault Haynes manuals i've got
-
Re: Everybody ready for national day..
Steve, good luck buddy, getting the clio there and out on track...

The feckin turbo that I had rebuilt then sent back cause the bolts were loose has sprung a massive oil leak on the turbine side  So much so it's coming out from the joint and dripping .I give up ,can't anyone do a decent bloody job anymore ? I've only been running 12 psi and not for very long either it's only got about 150 miles on it .
Waiting for it to cool down then I'm going to put the old one I rebuilt ages ago with a 360 thrust ...... If that don't work I'm well an truly shafted for tomorrow .
