Renault Turbo UK Festival (RTOC ND) 2013 - Date Change!!! Now is 6th July 2013

Based on feedback from some of the recent great threads raised on these boards, and discussions within the members of the Committee, it has been decided:

TO CHANGE THE DATE OF THE NATIONAL DAY 2013!!!
THE NEW DATE FOR THE NATIONAL DAY WILL BE SAT 6TH JULY 2013

Why have the Committee decided to do this?? There are a couple of reasons:

1. Its clear from recent feedback that Santa Pod and the Dragstrip is still very important to the members. So we have decided to move the RTOC ND to the Day before the RETRO POD SHOW and are going to tie the two events together making for a RTOC NATIONAL WEEKENDER!! We are proposing to arrange a proper old school Convoy down to the Pod on the Sunday Morning from Blyton :yeah:
2. Love it or hate it, the previous date for the ND fell on the same day as the French Car Show. The Committee did not want to make the membership switch between the two events. The much better option for all would be to welcome other French car clubs to come to our ND! Because we have now moved the date, the Committee are also planning a PROPER attendance of the French Car Show by the RTOC!

Myself and the Committee are aware that you cannot please all of the membership all of the time, but we are hopeful that these changes will give most of you that warm RTOC fuzzy feeling :laugh:

We really hope the members join us at all events.... Could be a great year for RTOC showing at events :)

Only 500 odd people have 'viewed' this thread, although if that many turn out, I reckon we can afford ND at the 'Ring next year :D

Resist the temptation to bring (hopefully) finished tfsi k04 powered vx220, 2nd boy due to arrive 8th May and banned from all car work for a couple of months which makes finding time to do a few jobs on my own car difficult to impossible :coffee:

The Committee have finalised the pricing for the 2013 Renault Turbo UK Festival to be held on the 6th July 2013 at Blyton Park:

• Entry per non track time adult: £15
• Camping; two days at £5 per pitch
• Track inc entry, member, early purchase: £70
• Track inc entry, member: £85
• Track inc entry, non member: £110

We have also invited MTech Automotive along to the 2013 event again with their rolling road so members not interested in running their car on-track can have 3 power runs. Tickets to run your car on the Dyno on the day will cost £25 but the club will also be putting a limited number of earlybird tickets in the club shop for members to purchase for £20

absolute bargain this is going to be one fantastic rtoc weekend

quick question, if members have more than one car they want put round the track would they need 2 track tickets or just the 1?

Pass is for driver not car so bring as many as you like ;) All drivers must have full price ticket ,there is no 'second driver' option .

I've just paid for my ticket including track time, £70 before 12 April (£85 thereafter), so get booking... Would be great to see more cars on the track.

i want to attend but the problem is i'm in the RNLAF and it's that week that we have a base excercise.

probably can't get the friday off so would be impossible for me to be in the UK in time :(

Unfortunately won't be heading to Bylton with it though, going to be giving Blyton a miss this year

Given the small number of tickets sold for the UK National Day this year, i'm now looking into the options now of selling tickets to our day thorough a 3rd party (not confirmed yet)

I do not want the club to spend all it's money to put a day on for all those members who will come along only then to be skint and unable to support what the RTOC really is...THIS WEBSITE you're reading.

I know some members will not like this (myself being one) but we do not want the club to lose money.

So if you don't want this to happen, BUY A TICKET!

I am getting PPC out of hte way , then will buy mine for instance.

I'll be having at least one entrance and a track session booked when i get paid next.

Two events same weekend ie some might only want to travel to pod to save on petrol etc and the date change may be a factor in low sales atm

Due to arrival of Elliot 2 weeks ago there is no way we can attend the weekend this year as he will be to young and looks like it will be an early start but leave after. Rob would be with me as co driver so 2 drivers and 4 attending. Not booked as far down the list atm and the saving did not make much difference for us hence leaving until nearer the time

I could prob get a gaggle of vx220 if it comes to it

Seems normal Rtoc booking and date changes and other events at same time will possibility dent a few regulars

Not sure it would be the same with too much random attendees

Do a list of attending and devide by 3 :-P

Are you allowing any trade stands? My brother runs a fully insured inflatables business and has got sumo suit wrestlingand inflatable duel if it is aallowed would like to set it up for entertainment , however it won't be free but would people be interested for small cost?

I spread the word last weekend at ppc in the park about our little event and we should have a fairly lairy vx220 to mix it up with.

Maybe offer tickets to the other French clubs? Peugeot and citroen etc.

As there has only been a small number of track time tickets sold, we are going too pen this event up for other clubs and the public.

The last thing we want to do is cancel the Renault Turbo Festival, so this is being done to ensure the club does not make a huge loss and go under.

Before we start advertising elsewhere, can you promote the event to "friends and family"? Its a really cheap Track Day and there will be loads of Renault Turbos also!

Spread the word, keep the club alive :D

The numbers we don't have are the ones wanting to do track days.

500 members would be ample if 150 were keen to do an exclusive RTOC track day each year. Even half that.

I think the limiting factor preventing RTOC expansion is when the new Sport Renaults rolled off the production line no-one here bought one. Instead other people started their own Megane club, Twingo club, etc.

Over at the Fiat Forum I use many of them do now own new small Fiats and they changed the name a bit to stretch to that 'modernisation'.

All of this is not really going to help up the numbers guys for those looking in TBF, maybe a different thread?

There is nothing I would love more than to see 49 other Renault turbos on the track at Blyton... but tickets are not selling.

Rather than cancel the event and make a huge loss, we thought we would try and save it and put on a show for those who have already got tickets or are planning on attending.

look at the figures for last year im pretty sure not many tickets sold till the last minute then? Maybe people who arent attending should stop posting negative comments on this thread..... we want to keep this thread as open and postive as possible :agree:

Its a shame that tickets are having to be shared out to other clubs now, its not what the RTOC Nat Days are about

Wonder what all the reasons are for people not buying tickets, I know my reason's are for not buying ticket for Blyton. I have bought Retro ticket so least will be making part of the weekend

The problem is we need people to commit up front...

The clubs banks are what they used to be (still healthy and will be for a long time), but if we have 1 bad ND that could have very serious implications for our future... We need people to commit and buy tickets early...

for us its purely to longer drive (even though we are doing a one off to sangliers to see what its like) and we prefer pod better, i suppose its just what people prefer every1s different

How about offering them at williamsclio, clio16valver, cliosport etc.

Unfortunately due to both pod and national day being so close and me going on holiday the day after this weekend I just couldn't afford everything, so pod got the nod due to it being nearer plus a friendly bit of banter with a m8 and his S3 tipped it for me, I don't think I'll beat him though:crap: I hope there's a national day next year though, I'd even be happy to put a little £ in the kitty as a good will jesture for me not going;)

Couldn't get pod at a weekend, and people moaned if ND wasn't on a weekend they wouldn't attend... Last year we had piggy backed on a event at pod (a test a tune day I think) and we struggled to sell them tickets... So was decided pod hire was a no go..

I'm really looking forward to it I must say. The last 2 ND's have been the best ever as far as I'm concerned. Previous to 2011 I hadn't been to an ND in years but I won't miss them now! Whats the limit on track tickets? If they sell out to these other clubs, and there's none left when the Renault crew finally get their shizzle together, are we going to have a RTOC ND where most of the Renault Turbo's are sidelined?

I've got mine, and I don't particularly care what i'm going to be upsetting with my rustbucket Renault, I guess I just find it a little sad at the lack of motivation from the club. You answered your own question there very well Dave, lack of motivation (and ultimately sales of tickets) will result in future RTOC events not being grand affairs.

I would love for all the members of the RTOC to buy the tickets and the RTOC ND being for the RTOC, but I also want to see this club limp along for a few years yet & don't want the money the club does have to be spend on a ND that loses money so unfortunately I'd rather get the tickets sold & keep the club coffers healthy. :) The downside is that will give some of the members the hump. :(

Doesn't this always happen though? ie, not much uptake of the tickets months before the event, then there's a mass purchase of them the week or 2 before-hand.

I guess there's a few other events on that month as well though, and maybe hosting ND on the same weekend as the Retro Show @ Pod may also have dictated where people spent their moolah, if it didn't allow for attending both events/if you're more swayed towards 1/4 mile racing.

Maybe trackdays (or ND at track venues) have had their time, and we either need to head back to Santa Pod next year, or try a completely different format/venue? (eg, run to the sun).

This has been said many times mart we can not have pod on a weekend mate thats them not us we booked pod all be it on a test and tune day and hardly any intrest mate. And last year lost thousands even with the last minute rush its a diffucult situation

I didn't say about hosting it on a weekend though ;) but yeah, I can't imagine Pod will do us any favours now, after we pulled the plug on hosting our ND's there.

Sure, last year's test & tune event was a let down, but there seems to be a resurgence for 1/4 miling again this year...or maybe it's because people can't be assed to travel all the way to Blyton, hence another reason why ticket sales have been good for the Retro Event, given it's more central location?

Perhaps the Show & Shine aftermath shenanigans still lingers in some member's minds too?

Personally, I prefer a track-based ND venue, but would still happily go to Pod if it came to that - After all, it's all about supporting the club at the end of the day.

Or, as said, perhaps a new format/venue is required to re-stoke the fire...

When the possibility arose that we could have the two on the same weekend it seemed like a good thing. Convoys to Blyton and then to Pod, etc. Both track and proper 1/4 mile cater for in the same weekend event.

Perhaps I'd underestimated the ability of RTOC members to pay?? Perhaps there too little money going around now and even though the Retro show is low cost it's been mentioned a few times in this thread that it adds up to too much cost for one weekend?

Or is the Blyton somewhat northern location a factor.

Or is it that there really are not many people who what a track day in this club now? If we look at the advance sales, Pod is more than two to one for Blyton. But then the track day is FAR more expensive and there are a lot of other events on.

Is the drive between Blyton and Pod a factor meaning some people can't get very drunk on Saturday night and that social aspect is a main draw?

Its a little bit of everything! At a high level, this is what I have picked up from club members over the last month (long standing members too)...

• Blyton is too far up (southern peeps)
• RTOCers are not interested in Track days (as most people spend too much on their cars to put on track)
• We dont want a track day back-to-back with a POD day
• Too expensive! Not the cost of the track time but tyres, brakes, etc...

We are all doing a great job but really need the members on board to drive the club forward.

Perhaps next year then we could get in with Retro Show again; a proper track for drag racing and good social event.

And for those within range of Northern London, the Enfield Motor Pageant may be even more popular and a good 'turn up and camp' social event, like has been suggested for an RTOC ND meeting a fair few times over the last couple of years.

Maybe another one similar for the Midlands to Northern members at a place of choosing of people from that region.

Cease attempting to put on an RTOC track day. Those interested could perhaps come up with a solution around booking places with someone else' day? Like was done with the FSC in 2007?

Book a big field in the middle of country, camping for weekend, have a laugh, bbq and beer at night, and during day for a nice countryside drive with a lot of renault turbos in a row. Cheap weekend and means a lot of people can still catch up. I dont attend ND for track or drag strip, thats just a bonus I attend to catch up with people who I have not seen for ages.

Can't wait for Blyton, if your savy you can pick up loads of part worn tyres v cheap! I prefer cheap crappy tyres because it gets the car moving under you and are more forgiving to recover mistakes... (Which I make a lot of !!!) lol

How much benefit is there from having the Friday as well, rather than a large club stand on just the Sunday like this year? If a Friday could be well attended enough then it could probably be done.

About 50 tickets sold so far for the Sunday event this year. If we booked the Friday as well, would that mean people would moan about having the Sunday as well at the same weekend and not turn up for that? We'd have 20 on Friday and 20 on Sunday and would that overall be less good?

Would people camp twice in a row? I seem to recall that some people did but felt that was taking 'roughing it' too far??

I will ring pod tommorow then mark and see how much a weekday is and then we can work out how many people would need to attend to make it pay and then get some names together who would want to do it i would be up for a weekday and with plenty of notice it gives people a chance to book a day off work what do you reckon ??

I would say have the rtoc on the Friday then its peoples choice weather they like to stay the whole weekend, think by having 2 events so close it will divide people as not everyone can do both or will only really want to do one

The past years we've had it on a Friday its been busy, plenty of people racing and spectating and then the camping at night has prob been some of the best we had

I'm a new member of the RTOC, and to be honest this is why I joined the club as well. Me personally (and this is just my opinion) I don't have any interest in track days or drag strip. I just wanted to own a 5 and have a get together and chat with other owners whenever, and wherever I can.

But also, I set my self a 'car' budget each month and pretty much every penny gets pumped into the car itself...nothing left for anything else :)

Yeah because the people that did go had a brilliant time, and that guaranteed me returning again this year.

Rock and hardplace is very apt....you cant please all of the people all of the time!

So on a more positive note what have people got left to do to their cars to make this event :D I've only got a few minor things left to do

Make new engine mounts
Fit sub frame
Refit engine and vw box conversion
Fit a hydrolic clutch and pedal
Iron out any other problems and get mot'ed
If that fails I will be in another members car or one of my other cars

Ps since the rtoc started doing national days I've only missed 1 or 2 and I couldn't care where it's held I will be there :D any excuse for a drink and catch up with some other rtoc peeps :)

Oh this is where you all are at...

Is there a time entry limit for entry for pod on Sunday morning? also, are there any tickets left, stand etc?

I will be driving down early Sunday morning from Blyton with others (well me & wallace) and would like to do this event aswell.

For me, it'll be nice to see as many 5's as possible that weekend, drag, ¼ miles.

Says from 8am on the Pod ticket.

We've sold 49 out of 50 Pod tickets.

I've added a few extra tickets into the shop.

Should be a giggle - I've got a few mates interested, one with an RX8 (£700 ebay ****ter) and a few others to come along also, I think the RX8 will be the only additional car on track, but a few more spectators to join in on the night.

How easy is it for them to buy tickets, I can point them in the right direction via FB to get em booked early. My VX220 mate has just **** his box, so he won't be on track:confused:

They have to register with the RTOC shop and then just make a purchase. We don't currently have any Blyton tickets to send out but I, at least, am keeping a list of who bought what. I don't know what's happening with tickets / wristbands.

I know its nothing to do with Me but there should be a serious agm this year and also an agm just with comittee members to discuss about the club and its going on.

Here people's views and clubs future and future events etc.

Hi Matt. I good idea indeed however, with all the will in the world it still boils down to manpower and people actually having time to do whatever is agreed on. We've lost a few Committee members recently and that's going to cut the manpower down even further :(

I had no idea until just now that the "Renault Turbo UK Festival 2013" referred to the RTOC ND. I've only just read what's going on.

I hope this can be pulled together and that it's a top weekend for all involved. :agree:

There are a few who love the strip, a few who love the track and the rest just want to meet for the crack. With club numbers as they are, future ND's (if there are any), should be basic, cheap get-togethers tagged on to/at a central venue when there's some other event on that those who want to race their cars can just get on with it.

Why can't the ND be held in one cordoned off corner of the pod (or a circuit) car park on a RWYB or open-track day one weekend? These places can't stop GTT's turning up en-masse to support the half dozen members who are going on the track. To keep everyone happy, do it at Pod one year and a track the next.

Whatever happens FFS just do it cheaply so it doesn't pull the club under and do it simply so it doesn't take so much organisation. This way members can afford to attend, which should improve numbers. And let's face it, that's both the biggest problem and the most important aspect. Last year's attendance was abysmal, someone do a head-count this year to see if the effort was worthwhile.

Very true and all points need addressing ,Thats why we need an agm on the matter and some of the commitee members have moved on etc.

I paid for entry, RR & camping in April but haven't received tickets yet.

It's no problem, as long as i don't get rejected/declined after driving all the way to Blyton. lol
On a serious note,

It's such a shame that things aren't working out so well when there are so many wanting to be involved and whom enjoy it.

Currently we have no Blyton tickets to actually send out. I suspect people may have to just print their email confirmation out and take it with them. Not good.

We have an AGM every year generally. I think this year we'll need to focus recruiting more Committee members possibly.

On a positive note the ND/Festival WILL be an excellent weekend, even if you're not tracking it. It's great just to get together and have a laugh while camping out. :agree:

Can you pay on arrival if just wanted to pop up for the day?

That my plan to pay on arrival, have done that in the past.

AS was mentioned earlier I think that sounds like the best way for your RR ticket, print off your shop / paypal receipt and take it with you. Only one or two people paid in advance for the RR. Blunty was going to organise all of it, payments, etc on the day. Alas, he's not going now so there's no-one to do it.

That gives me 3 weekends to get the van roadworthy again. The gearbox i have to fit is of totally unknown quality so its a last min gamble. If all else fails the wifes megane may be used.

I know that well enough Alex, but I have tried and tried to blow her up.... only managed to bend pushrods at 9000rpm + once and also destroyed a standard clutch after it blew apart..oh, and went down craner curve backwards at 100mph+ and still lived on......she has 9 lives I'm sure..... the old girl needs to die gracefully, on track in a huge ball of firey grace... :devil: . thing is she keeps on going,,,,lol

if she die's in her natural state of FLAT OUT then I will be happy to let her rise from the ashes with a nice new engine from something nice.......;)

3 weeks :) well mot is now sorted out only failed on a split cv boot a tyre and me not filling up the screen wash. few more bits to sort out and hopfully all will be ok for me. is there going to be a northwest convoy.

Perhaps the only issue with the Clio plan is that I used to be 3rd party on other cars until I sold the Beemer last month, now I'm just a named driver on the Focus so insurance would need sorting out too. So it will just be easier to come in the Focus bud :agree:

There is no north North v South scenario. :confused:

Pod now use Ticketmaster to make and supply tickets. In order to have places at the club reserved parking space that Ross booked for us we have to buy these tickets from Pod. I am the one that buys them so they are sent to me and this time I'm sending them out.

The Blyton day is done by RTOC and this time there are no tickets. So nothing to buy, nothing to send.

I dont have original email - printed off my paypal receipt which totalled £57 (which included a tow eye cover)

Anyway, id paid for the RR too - just went into the club shop and noticed the RR tickets have been removed?

Going by this thread i take it its not due to over demand!

So can i ask please: does 'the club' have any record of me purchasing tickets - ND+2xCamping+RR?

And is the RR still going ahead?

I think this will be my first and last nd, had some fun in the car but I think it's going. Just can not justify having it, tax, insurance to drive it about 10 times a year.

The rolling road was busy last year because it was free.

Are RTOC members really so skint that £25 is too much to ask? It costs the club £1200 (£30 for 40 cars) so we're losing out at £25 even if it sells out.

Dont think there is that much competition to prove whos car is doing what. Most of the lads who have tuned have a fair idea on what the car is running.

They're fussy as fook on spark plugs....wrong gaps or any non-gen ones cause issues quite a lot. Mine is a bit lumpy-hunty @ idle when it's cold too. Just an idea!

Sarah mum has VERY kindly offered to have both boys friday night and all day saturday so now plan to camp / stay over Friday night track the little beastie until it pops catch up with all my bestest pikey mates and then ome to get done over by the boys :agree:

You should be able to pay on the day but it would be better to buy a ticket from the shop as it makes it easier for us to keep track of who bought what and reduces the amount of cash committee on the weekend have to carry around.

I just phoned Blyton, they said there isn't an age restriction as such, but more so a height restriction.

If he can sit in the car with a helmet on and the seat belt is not around his neck, they said bring a cushion lol so it sounds good!

PPC do this every year - £20 for 15 minutes is great, the only problem they have is that there is such a huge demand for them that you have to be quick to get in. But generally 2x 15 minute sessions will be ok for most non hardcore racers. It's a very good idea.


As for additional drivers - £25 per additional driver @ Snetterton - another good call.

I got the impression that some people were thinking of making their minds up during the day and then perhaps have a few laps.

To lap this track then, it must be planned before the day and those lapping must be there at 8.30am or whenever the briefing is.

I have been offered a go in dans car. But obviously only one person can drive it at a time. I would happily buy a additional driver pass if the shop had one available.
I'm sure out of the rest of the cars on the field a few would let their friends have a go so you may be able to recoup some cash in that respect and it shouldn't tie the track up any more than usual as the car would otherwise be out there but with the owner not the additional driver.
I would need to know before the day though if this is at all possible please.

I am very pleased to announce the following for the Renault Turbo UK Festival 2013 @ Blyton Park:

• Additional Driver: £25.
  
  • Must attend the Drivers Briefing in the morning
  • Drivers Wrist Band will be allocated once briefing attended
• Track Time: £20 per session.
  
  • Each session is 15 minutes.
  • All Drivers must obtain a Additional Drivers pass (as per above)
  • 4 sessions throughout the day (+/- depending on take up)

At a high level:
You can purchase an Additional Driver pass (must attend briefing) and use this to drive other peoples cars on track, assuming they have either a Track Day pass or purchased Track Time. This is great for passengers/friends or others to try their hand at some track action.

Drivers Wrist band is only for those driving on track (behind the wheel as such).

So did passengers wear a driver pass last year? With everyone wearing a drivers wristband we'd not be able to tell who'd paid and who hadn't. Everyone would be driving, many for free :confused:

You have enough wrist bands. Main and or 2nd drivers can wear the same bands - it makes no odds.

I did mention that Snetterton charge for passengers, but Romil hasn't. Also worth noting, that at Snetterton there is no requirement for passengers to be briefed.

No to the first question as currently we only plan for 4 x 15 minute session (no takers as yet). If you plan your rests/breaks correctly, you can avoid being on track when these said 15min session take place.

Yes in regards to the etiquette. When on track we are told to use our mirrors.

This give everyone a chance to give it a go and test their cars and/or driving skills. Also gives the hardcore a chance to have a break and will not intimidate the newbies. I'm not saying they can't go out on track (the hardcore) but there will be some etiquette in place. for example, 11am session: I will go out at 10:45 for 15mins and rest the car from 11am for 15mins. I don't want to be held up at every corner/up someone's arse on a straight nor do I want to be scaring someone has not done this before or is worried about their car.

Also, the take up for Track Day passes has been slow this year, 24 at the last count. I very much doubt this will have an impact. Can we start a list if your "thinking" about taking up one or more of these 15 min session? If yes, how many? Thanks

How does it work with paying on the day.

Does one pay £15 entry at the gate then upgrade for another £70 at the briefing for track time?

It might be easier for the organisers on the day if as many as could paid in advance from the RTOC shop I think.

Options:

Entry = £15
Entry+Track = £85
Additional Driver = £25 (you must have an Entry Ticket)
Track time = £20 per session.

To get into the grounds, you must have an entry ticket. Once on the ground, you can purchase the Additional Driver pass, assuming the car you are driving already has a Track pass (or you can buy track time).

All Drivers on the track must have a Drivers Wristband. You can only obtain a Drivers Wristband by attending the Drivers Briefing in the morning. My advice, if you are thinking of driving, attend the Drivers Briefing in the morning, so if you change your mind and want to drive, you have any issues with

Nick - Great idea about the letter. Your charges will £85 (Entry and Track) and Additional Driver will be £25.

Duncan - You only require 1 track pass per car (I assume you have purchased the Entry+Track). Rob will need to purchase an additional Drivers pass £25 (via club shop) and attend the briefing. 3rd Driver would do the same as Rob. I'm guessing your cars not going to get any rest lol :laugh:. What are you bringing?

Ian - Yes. This would equal the total of Entry+Track (£85).

That's not the idea Ian, look at it like any other open pit track day you've been to, you attend with your friend he pays full and uses his car on track most of the day and his bezzy mate gets the odd go. I think you'll get 1 or 2 taking the piss, but in all honesty they will be in a majority, you always get this as you could anywhere else. It just doesn't happen.

Don't worry about non members, this is all additional profile raising which may lead to more interest next year. I have seen the demand for this type of track action grow for 4 or 5 years, year on year and it's now hard to get track time at all @ PPC. this can only be for the good. I know that the 1 individual I was talking to about it over this way (non member was humming and harrring ()is that a word)) and is now 99% there.

I certainly know any of my group wanting to thrash Fluffy round the track can think again, let alone any random bystanders.

Duncan - You only require 1 track pstyles car)r car (I assume you have purchased the Entry+Track). Rob will need to purchase an additional Drivers pass £25 (via club shop) and attend the briefing. 3rd Driver would do the same as Rob. I'm guessing your cars not going to get any rest lol :laugh:. What are you bringing?

It's a la gold Pro comp race car(7 stylee car) which I put the Nissan 200ax sr20det turbo lump in. Only running baby 230bhp atm but total car sub 600kg managed over 5hrs on track last year but will be out all Day this time

The Additional Drivers pass allows this driver "on track". He/she will need a car to use of course. They can only use cars that have already purchased Trackday pass's. For example: DanC has bought a Track and Entry and Car.Crash Additional Driver pass. DanC can let Car.Crash use his car on track (as his car has a Trackday pass). With this example, we wont have anymore cars on track than there already is.

If Car.Crash decided he is having so much fun and wants to put his car on track, he will need to purchase a Track Time session for £20 or 2 @ £40. Yes we will have an additional car on track but we have covered this before.

Most fee payers will have their cars on track for more than 3 hours, assuming they dont give up!

The 5's been tucked up now for 18 months but will make a return I hope for this time next year.

I think it should be clear to everyone what the expectation is, because should something happen I want to know who I can expect to bear the cost of fault or non-fault incidents.

Example:
Someone's brakes fail and they T-Bone my car. I wouldn't expect to bill them.

Or
My brakes fail and I T-Bone their car. If I got billed for their damage, i'd file it in the bin.

I have been on track days littered with idiots (nicest word I could think of lol)

I have always had track cover on my road cars used but the track beast none, not sure if someone crashed into me and they were in the wrong I would say oh well, ops.

Its not a race and most places control the idiots well and then it really is the unlucky situation of a mechanical failure incidents which tent to be rare. I have been to a day or 2 where clearly their cars were pants and going to fail - that cheeses your head in while waiting for a track to be cleaned for a few hrs :disagree:

Must get round to spraying the track beast an evil green with LED front lights to make sure other track uses actually see me :cooter:

If you're driving like a tool race control will pull you up. If in the unlikely event 2 (or more) cars come together, regardless of who's fault it is, you're NOT covered. This is the same for any track day that I've known of. You can of course take out your own track day insurance. £££

Just making sure we're all on the same page mate. It only takes a puncture or high speed lift in a corner to cause a spin, if an engine goes and covers the track in oil or water in front of a few cars...many different possibilities outside of peoples driving standards.

Brilliant, thanks Mart, make sure everyone knows that there will be only one track briefing, if you miss it, you may not get on track. :(

Or due to this new DVLA licence bollox, I've had to send mine away, paper and card and 20 of my hard earnt... Just so there pictures upto date, hope nobody's in that fix.

Funnily enough I'm in that fix also, however, it's no fix for me as I haven't sent it away yet! The DVLA can tongue my balls until after Blyton. It's still in date for a week or so anyway. :coffee:

I'm also a but screwed with the driving licence. DVLA still haven't sent through new photo card (lost wallet in Belgium) so ill only have paper counterpart and passport for photo. They can't grumble at that surely??

I spoke to blyton last week and they told me on the phone that's its down to the event organiser to check licences and not blyton park :confused:

For those who have lost/misplaced your driving licences, I would ask you bring something to validate you are a legal driver. Insurance certificate perhaps.

They are just trying to fix the seat at the moment, it seems that I may be a bit big for that seat position and had bent the metal cross bar which the seats bolt to apart so nut is coming out, they are going to temp fix it until I can remove the carpet and sort it out properly so I can still get he car there this Friday :D

My biggest concern with the weekend weather is that I can't get my damn heater to not work! Even with the heater dial fully on cold it still pumps hot air into he car. Lots of water and windows open on the drive to Santa Pod on Sunday ;)

So what's the deal with entry Friday / Saturday and kicking out Sunday?

I'm not camping (staying at local b'n b) but want to drop the car off Friday evening, stay for the banter, leave late in the evening and come back Saturday morning for sign on and track. Similar story for Saturday night, stay for the banter, head off to b&b but leave the car on site and return for it Sunday morning. Can they accommodate this??

Will be much safer to leave the car on site as opposed to the travel lodge car park on the trailer ready to be pinched!

The venues set on a Saturday, the weather is epic so lets get down to blyton and have a laugh this weekend. You can get track time in 20 min slots should you only want to test the water and a rolling road is available with catering on site.

Just got back from blyton.What an awesome night and day.Cup car ran like a dream,big thanks to kris m for sorting the carb out. :agree: looking forward to pod now for another day of talking about 5's.what more could you ask for.:)

I actually got my car cleaned and 4 waxes on it :laugh: (doing a test demo for another forum) so I'll be there :)

Great day yesterday. Loved it. Met some ppl and saw some awsome cars. Y favorite was the white 5 with two engines in. What a piece of engineering. ;)

Mint day yesterday at blyton met a load of nice people of here and had a few laps on track for the first time and even tho me car went home on the aa van I'm defo not selling and got a lot of ideas of what I can do with mine now iv seen other people's 5s :) will be there next year for sure :)

Great day! Apologies if I upset anyone in the Fuego but it was a bit of a handful :D

Bit of setup work to do I think after the blowing exh.man gasket is fixed.

Heat management was an issue before it got mars hot on track but kept the boost at baby 10psi and survived all day :cool:

Great to get back out in the sr20det powered beastie. Brakes worked this year and traction was brilliant.

Everyone tracking were very very good with everyone respecting each others pace and abilities

Team Surridge looked after us well as per usual, cheers :agree:

Did manage to kill the Octavia tyre......driving on the grass lol. Far too many calls later got a man from Sheffield to drive with New tyre of ditch finder brand. Shame he bent the sill and damaged the alloy, muppet!!!! Got to get decent tyre Monday fitted

But meant I got Home for 9am to get my boys :)

Vibe around camp of usual dodgy banter and far to much booze lol. Always good to see so many friends and I'm done in and about to have cold beer

Nothing but positives from me great day great people great weekend.. Again. Will Defoe be there next year for my 3rd year. And great to see the frenchies again.. Who said blyton was too far? Not the frenchies they were even blasting up pod. So impressed by pascals rr efi all the way for the c1j.. Thanks guys for organising even the father inlaw loved it and says he would come again.

It was a last minute decision by me to go this year. I'm glad I got up at 3am on Saturday and made the trek up north - Yet another great National Day, and yet another great National Day with good weather :smokin:

A brilliant weekend! :cool: I really I really enjoyed it yet again this year. The weather was great, the track time excellent fun and the car performed perfectly - good old trusty!

It was great to meet some new memebers and also meet some long term members that I've somehow never met before! :D

A super turn out this year, certainly more that previous years :agree:

A huge thanks to all the committee members that helped run/organise the event and also to all club members that made the effort to attend and make the weekend so good, particularly our French/Dutch etc friends - well done! :)

A great weekend and think I may have just recovered now, car drove there and back and with a little detour because they decided to close one of the roads on the way back which two other 5s done the same thing.

Top job to all those who organised it, and whoever asked for the awesome weather to come along that weekend thank you to them as well.

Great meeting up with all the regulars as well as getting to meet new faces over a few beers in the evening / night.

Bring on next ND and like said to get that many French / Belgium / Holland people over for the weekend nobody within England has really got a good excuse for saying its too far to travel.

Was another great ND weekend. Good to meet up with everyone again, be it the old farts or new rtoc'ers. Big :agree: to Jasper and Romain, Bruno, Fred, Pascal, Xenon & the other French guys for making the trip over :beer: :)

Hope you got the downpipe sorted on the 11t. Sorry that the mobile welder idea went south (thanks Grier... :rolleyes: ;))

The weather was stonking alright! 31c I heard being bandied around :cool:

Gutted for Eug'/Andy & his Raider, but 5 year old fuel & the 'Heath Robinson' coolant cct setup probably didn't help matters ;)

Thanks to Billy, Tom, Ricardo and Sheryl for the drive of their motors :agree: All equally fantastic cars, and easy to see/feel how the evolution of RenaultSport chassis/handling development has progressed since the GTT era.

Shame there wasn't an AGM, but thanks to the Steve, Alex (nice to meet you at last mate! :D) & the rest of the Committee for organising ND 2013 :) After the initial worries regarding (lack of) turn-out, I think those fears were put to bed by Friday evening. The track didn't look mega busy, granted, but going on the overall number of cars/people present, I reckon we had more through the gate this year than last.

Maybe the format/venue doesn't need changing (yet) after all :)

Already looking forward to next year: Sangliers, National Day, and a definite 'No bling at the Ring' return visit.

Hope to see rtoc'ers galore at all of them :agree: :)

Sounds like it was a great day :-) really disappointed that I couldn't make it :(

The 5 STILL not being finished and it clashing with our holiday didn't help.

Def hope I can make it next year- with a fully restored Renault 5 in tow ;)
