I'll be going out from the 8th as my mate couldn't get that week off
gonna drive down to the ring on the 11th sept treat myself for my bday
I guess Mart and DG are deffo going, who else has booked a ferry and/or accomodation?
Alex (all being well) and Steve & Sarah are hopefully going to be there as well :)
Sammy Davis Marmoy was hinting at going as well, although he said that might be a last minute decision.
You fancy it now Ricky?
A subtle line of questioning there :D
I can't speak for the others, but no, I haven't yet booked any crossings, simply because, given the trackday's on a Monday, I haven't decided whether to get the overnight ferry from up here Saturday night, or Dover ferry sometime Sunday.
And then there's the option, maybe, of bringing both of those options forward 24hr, and spending the Saturday/night at Nurburg.
OK, glad i've not booked the ferry crossing yet :D
My plan was to go real early Saturday (6am crossing) to make the most of the day and to catch the 8pm ferry back on the Monday evening. This gives me the opportunity to be at Spa all day Monday (for that pax lap ;))
The ferry price for DFDS is £38 return for those sailing times minus the card charge
Aii mate, a pax lap or 10 won't be a problem :)
If you're going out there early doors Saturday, is that direct to Spa or via the 'Ring for the day/night? (there's not that much to do in Spa for 2 full days)
Straight to Nurburgring Saturday/night, wouldn't mind doing 2-3 laps. Then either Spa Sunday night or Nurburgring, i don't mind as obviously i don't wanna be on me own :D would like to chew the fat over a few beers
Seems like only a handful of peeps going and still no info about times and who's staying where.
Just been speaking to Bex - If you're a definate for the 'Ring on Saturday/night, then we can make it as well :) I'll let you know what we decide about ferry crossings though...
We have a hotel booked for the Sunday night at Spa (I'll PM you the details of that one), but we can drive there any time on Sunday as we're booked in there Monday night as well.
Happy to stay anywhere in Nurburg/Adenau on the Saturday night.
Ferry is booked :)
6am Saturday 1st October, returning 8pm Monday evening
Nice one mate. I'll get our crossing booked up as well later tonight :agree:
Mart, found a hotel on booking.com in Adenau for the Saturday, 115 euros the night for a double room (steep?) looks nice :agree:
Town location so the bars should be open, and they give 10 euros off for a lap on the Ring :D

Failing that there's Schuld maybe? Don't wanna book somewhere just to be me and the missus so i'll wait to see what other hotel options are knocking about :)

75 euros a night for a double
PM mate.
I cant make this event now  GUTTED!!!
I believe the track day is full now and am about to email my confirmation to cancel but if someone wants my ticket let me know asap today
Failing that I will exchange for a credit note for next year as I need my Spa fix
DG
Duncan,
Might be worth giving Alex a call/email, as he might buy your Monday ticket as well as the Tuesday one he's already got.
Sure Al was there on the Monday but could not track, but they are fine to refund (minus 15%) or give credit note so if nobody wants it credit note for maybe April next year
Will drop him a text now :agree:
DG
He's there on Monday (to spectate), but he's got a ticket for Tuesday. He would've gone for Monday, but wasn't sure about his workload, plus the spaces had all gone by then anyway.
Cheers Mart, yes replied confirming what we already thought ;)
Anyone else before I send this mail before leaving work today? Mart was Krissy M on about tracking at Spa?
DG
He was, but I think it was going to be a last minute decision.
Hang fire for a mo though, as I might know someone who will have it now...
Will hold fire until tomorrow - let us know :agree:
DG
Nope, carry on as you are :D Said person is el skinto.
Can't wait, only have 2-3 things to tinker with on the Clio and ready to go
If only i had the time & money.... Got a track car now, would have been great, might be able sneak a brands hatch day before the year is over :)
Blyton Park?

Mart you know it makes sense and working some magic my end currently to some how make it happen :coffee: bad enough I have not been able to make Mallory and Spa so need my fix
DG
 :agree:
Shoppers, to make it cheaper, you could do just the one night at Spa, and drive home Monday evening after the trackday?
NorfolkLine/DFDS return crossings are currently £30-£40 (time depending of course).
I'm sure you & Duncan could come to some arrangement regarding his trackday ticket?
Email sent ref my ticket and accepting credit note - if you do want it shoppers happy to speak to them but would not leave it long as I am sure its now up for general sale
DG
I'm no John Kettley and can't predict the weather over there so what's it like to roll on 888 tyres in all conditions. Got a 2nd set of wheels but dont fancy chopping and changing all weekend
25 degrees and sun out there in the days :)
So, just the 4 of us going then?
Plus Alex Monday lunchtime onwards :)
RTOC Rule of three in full effect. Or should that be RTOC rule of 30?
Can't wait :smokin:
Have fun guys :)
Wish i was there...
Could have put money on myself so I can have more spending money on the week after in Germany :crap:
Yeah, cheers guys  :crap:
;)
Steak on a stone, the Ring, Spa F1 track, 25 degrees sun.... Oh, we'll enjoy it alright ;) :D
Packed and ready to meet up en route :-)
Have a great trip ladies & gents! Be safe :agree::cool:
886 miles
18 gallons
49MPG inc 4 laps of the Ring
That makes it less than 2 tanks of fuel there and back as it's an 11 gallon tank  :D
Absolutely awesome 3 days away, you couldn't have picked a more perfect weekend for weather.
Managed to get all the way to the Nurburgring from home on 1 tank of fuel, we stopped 130 miles short for a break and Evo petrol top up with the Clio averaging 53MPG
Steak on a stone Saturday was something else, wow i can't believe in the 4 years of going this was my first time!
4 laps done on the Sunday, the Clio performed really well, the first time i could really open her up. Anyway, dodgy vibration issues on the way to Spa Sunday afternoon, frantic phonecalls to Matt, Shoppers and Alex nearly saw a replacement driveshaft wing its way over from England. The problem tuned out to be 3 out of 4 wheel bolts loose.
Monday morning is mist so Spa doesn't open up till at least 11am, pax lap in the Evo and i'm impressed. No probs staying with the Aston Martin DB9 :) plenty of exotic machinery. Ferrari 458s absolutely stealing the show for me.
Miss the 8pm ferry due to 5 mile roadwork tailbacks and finally home for 2am after dropping co pilot Billy off.
Great weekend, great beer, great steak, great company. Bar the wheel bolts great Clio. There was plenty of banter, 1 liners etc
Link to a piccy of the Clio at the Ring, hopefully it'll work

Sounds like a great weekend, just hope you left the nice weather over there for when I leave this saturday. Thats great MPG for the clio, didn't realise you could get it that good.

Lovely stuff, your face must have been a picture when you found the wheel bolts a tad loose....after giving some large round the ring.
Let's just say, me and Bill looked at each other first like this  then i was a little like this :ashamed: and then after test driving it and the noise all gone
I think front wheel bearings next, idling is still a problem, driveshaft looking at.
