Eurotunnel was £96 going Saturday and back Monday evening, twice the price.
Mart, looking into the weekend, will be cheaper for me to visit the Ring then spectate and help out at Spa on the Monday

well im still planning on coming with matty....matty whats your thoughts on this?
im easy to stay for tuesday run to the border!?..and cheapo/ghetto hotel mart!!!
:):agree:
Ricky, more than happy to give you (and anyone else) plenty of pax laps at Spa.
Yep, cheapy hotels are in order this year - I love staying at the Tiergarten, but it's not the cheapest of places unfortunately. Funnily enough, it was only a couple of days ago I was talking to Duncan about the first time we stayed at Gunthers & what great memories we have of those first 'Ring trips :)
Shoppers, are you going to look into prices for staying at Gunthers/Hotel Schaefer? If you can help with the German side of things, I'll sort the Spa side :agree:
Yeh i have there number, i will call them at 9 :)
Well as you know Mart, my gang (Myself, Sarah, Rob & Sammy) will be travelling down south Sat evening and stay over nr Dover then onto Spa in the morning (or wherever we are staying) Sunday night hotel, track day Monday and stay again Monday evening and long drive home Tuesday Morning (got to love trailering) :agree:
DG
I have spoken to Gunters, got told to email request as the person on the phone does not speak good english, so I have emailed them requesting how many rooms they have for saturday 1st & costs of all the rooms...
Thanks Chris, top banana :)
Muchos appreciations for the pax lap offer :)
Indeed, only good memories of Gunthers place. Not the most VIP status hotel but it did what it said on the tin very well. Great beer and great food with a bed for the night. Mart do you remember breakin into the DJ booth at the downstairs disco, cheesy tunes, yard of german ale through the big cigarette, the talent contest, opeing the pub just for us! :D
That's what No Bling was all about  :)
The 1st time was that good some of us went back a month later!
I do Ricky, that was a totally mad night! :D D'you remember the German girls stripping Tricky & only leaving him a trainer to cover his modesty
The 'Adenau's got Talent' contest that we walked in on still gives me nightmares :D
Agreed, that's part of what the 'No bling' tour is & always should be about - It's why I'm well up for staying at Gunther's in October, so we can go back to the roots days again :agree:
Dunc, that very first pint, sitting on the bench outside Gunther's, is something I'll never forget. A crazy 24hr prior to that, to the peace, tranquility and 'we're here at last' feeling, supping a beer & watching the world go by. Great times :)
The trip before the 1st No bling at the ring - WAKEY WAKEY :D:ashamed:
Yep that whole trip one of the best ever, mind some of the no bling at the ring trips after were a blast
:agree::agree::agree:
Must get on with the V8 conversion in the omega so I can get on the ring again :coffee:
Just got myself an LSD for it but not sure it will cope lol
Looks like either RS4 or LS3 in the final running - may have found a broken (crashed) VXR8 S/C for conversion - LOOK OUT!!!!!!!!
DG
All eyes on Shoppers then to see what Gunther's come back with... :)
I've heard all about Gunther's place, but I've not experienced it
So, I'm up for it :D
Awesome, the 1st time we went we actually had the hotel to ourselves, they kept the bar open late as we were spending good money over the bar :)
Where's that pic of the Interceptor on the way back on the autobahn in the rain
We were 'at speed' as to not miss the eurotunnel back
TK took us out on the ring, 4 up, 90 degrees sideways for fun in the wet :agree:
Memories
:agree::agree::agree: :cool:
Just weighing up 2 options:
Saturday at the Ring, spend Saturday night at Gunthers.
Sunday some of the day at the Ring then head over to Spa and stay near Spa Sunday night so we're near the track for the Monday.
Or 2 nights at Gunthers....... leaning to Saturday night at Gunthers then to Spa.
Ferry side of things, looking at booking 6am Saturday and coming back Monday 8pm
I remember being over there on rememberance sunday.... thats what the party in the pub was.....
We were in the hall at the back... and thinking sh*t were in a pub in germany on rememberance sunday.... and the all of the sudden a marching band come out behind the curtains.... i thought we were gonna be in the ****...
But instead they were up for a laugh, got ricky & becky on the stage, TK & tricky were there... tricky had his eyes on vanessa(or something like that) & then we were invited to the nightclub.... downstairs in a basement..... decorated like a dungeon.... typical 6ft german lads there 6ft tall, leather jackets, big boots, muscles everywhere..... turns out they were a good laugh, lots of arm wressle's, mart taking over tthe dj booth...
A quality night all round
- Early ferry crossing from Dover Saturday morning, or the Newcastle-Amsterdam ferry Friday night if that works out a cheaper option.
- 'Ring laps when we get there.
- Gunther's Saturday night.
- Easy come, easy go for Sunday daytime.
- Staying at/near Spa Sunday night (only because of the early start on Monday morning).
- Track event on Monday.
- Stay local Monday night.
- Then maybe upto Brugges for a couple of days, Tuesday onwards.
That's my plan so far...
Im still well up for this, keep us informed on the room situation penfold :)
Good to see you're still up for it Brigsy :agree:
You ever taken a car on the Newc'-'Dam ferry?
Roomnumber 1,3,10,12,13,16 Double Rooms with Shower and WC Price 68,00 Euro per Night.
Roomnumber 5,6,14 thats Double Rooms with seperats Shower and WC Price 55,00 Euro per Night.
7 and 17 are single Rooms 34,00 per Night and Roomnumber 15 its a tree bed Room one single and one double bed with Shower and WC Price 90,00 but this Weekend is minimum 2 Nights. If you want more Rooms i can book it for you in Guesthouses.
Shame about the minimum 2 nights... but still cheaper than most places...
I have provisionally booked room 3:)
Doesn't look like there's much left on offer at the Hotel Rieder, i've just looked on hotelbookings.com and they're showing for 2 nights. Saturday-Sunday night
1 Triple room: 240 euros
3 Single rooms 120 euros
1 Suite for 2 people: 360 euros
Cheers Brigsy.
Shoppers, thanks for the price info. 2 nights is a no go for me, and at 68euro (don't recall it being that expensive previously?!) I'd rather pay the extra 15euro & stay at the Tiergarten (which would then also save me ~10euro in fuel & 1hr+ round trip getting to/from Ring).
If Gunther can sort us a better price & drop the 2 night BS, I'm up for staying there. If not, it's onto plan B...
Mmmmmmmm. I might be up for this trip too, need to check some dates out :)
A up ,,
Right im not going to Afghan anymore  .So i would really like to meet up with the club at the Ring (its a shame i dont live closer as i could have put a few peeps up at my place in Munster).
Whats the crack ? seems like every one is doing something diferent.
Idealy i would like to meet at the ring on the Sat stay near by Sat night then do one on Sunday..
hello i dont understand here everything because my englisch its not sooooooooo nice :scratch:
but when somebody need help for booking a room next to the ring give me a message , i have kontakt to the ring ( and the peoples rent rooms) because i work there sometimes as cook
when you write very slow and easy i can help :coffee::coffee:, when you need and want :)
maybe Dany from Münster can translate ?:rolleyes:
is somebody there next weekend for the 24h race .................... ?
Good to see you're now up for it Dan :agree:
It's looking like the plan is to drive out to Germany on Saturday morning, drive some laps of the 'Ring, stay local Saturday night, more laps on Sunday, then upto you whether you want to stay local again for the Sunday evening, or head over to Spa, stay local there for the night, then the trackday on Monday if you fancy driving or spectating.
That's the way I read it anyway.
From my point of view, I'll be going with the aforementioned plan, except I'll be staying local to Spa on Sunday & Monday nights, then heading upto Brugges for a few days afterwards.
no i work sometimes in the restaurant paddock , but only for big events.
the restaurants owner is an old friend and if he is in trouble i help in the kitchen
and the man have a small guesthouse with 3 rooms ( 1 single and 2 double ) , the guesthouse is behind the policestation in balkhausen next to the ring ( in face of the dorint hotel )
for what night do you need the rooms ?
:niceone:
Steve
Of course I'll help if I can help,
but with the first guest houses dont works because of the weekend is a classical rally and the rooms are already booked.
if you want i look for one other guest house next to the ring.
with the German department from RTOC is no problem for me , when people from rtoc in germany in problems can phone me for help.
I can help with parts only for the Renault 5, but maybe I can help if one has different problems in Germany, i can give my telefonnumber when you want or need
greatings jörg

What's the latest with this trip?? Is it still on or has the God of Fail cast it off down Sh1t Creek?
 Nicely put!
It seemed to crash & burn, which is a shame :( but I'm still going out there for the Monday 3rd October Spa trackday, of which, of course, you & anyone else are more than welcome to join me :)
Not sure if I'll be tieing it in with a visit to the 'Ring, but Spa is definitely on.
Just had a cheeky discount voucher for Norfolkline arrive & everything..... http://www.williamsclio.co.uk/forum/...eusa_think.gif
I was actually going to pm mart later to confirm I wont be attending, me and charlotte have got the green light from everybody to buy our house... so no ring trips for me this year :(, hopefully a sneaky one next year if funds allow...
On a positive note, I am keeping the silver ph1, got a nice 1.8 16v engine to go in...
And there was me thinking I'd posted in here already...
We wont be attending unfortunately due to our business starting up....You know I would otherwise.
Will explain more this weekend Mart :agree:
