Found some time to get at it again mate?
Hi Tutuur.
I have made some progress as it happens. The project is a bit of a slow burner, so I'm still messing about with the engine at the moment. Here are some pics below of what I've been up to. Sorry about the iPhone pics, I didn't have my camera to hand...
Fitted trigger wheel to the crank pulley and fashioned a bracket to secure the crankshaft position sensor:

Made a turnbuckle alternator belt tensioner:

Trial fitted cams with vernier pulleys, before drilling new dowel pins:

Made a bracket to mount the coil pack, and modified a set of original bosch F7P ignition leads to suit:

Had to move the coil pack over as it was interfering with the fitment of the thermostat housing:

Completed and fitted the fuel rail and injectors and AN fittings:

Made a wiring loom, I'll be using a mil-spec type bulkhead connector so I can easily remove the engine and leave the loom attached, with one simple twist:

Mil-spec connector with 37 pins. I only need 21 of them. I'll probably repaint this as it looks a bit gash in green:

I modified the thermostat housing by drilling and tapping a 1/8bspt thread to fit a -6AN fitting. This will be used to feed the turbo coolant:

The inlet manifold is what's holding me up at the moment. I'll upload some pics of the progress of this shortly.
So I have made a start on the inlet manifold. I'm using the plenum cover from a Nissan Pulsar GTIR, which I've modified to fit a single 60mm throttle body. I've had to cut a backing plate from 6mm ally plate, which I've then drilled and tapped to accept M8 cap head screws.
The next step is to cut the runners from some ally tube, and have some velocity stacks made for inside the plenum chamber. Then I get get the whole lot welded up and fitted.
Plenum cover with 60mm throttle mounted:

Hopefully I can get this finished in the next week or 2.
my god, you really have some great fabrication skills mate! everything looks awesome in there....
Looking good matey.. Be good to see how the inlet turns out..
Excellent work
wow...
 wow lee where did you learn that level of fabrication
Wow, fantastic skills, awesome build
Thanks for the kind words guys :-)
Got the cams and pulleys back today after being dowel pinned. I'll get another update up on the weekend...
Your doing great:cool:, but you might need to re think the trigger wheel on crank;) when you corner hard it will catch on subframe, had exact same set up on mine many years ago:D
Really?! Shite. If I use Land Rover V8 mounts, I'm hoping they will be rigid enough to stop that. If not, I'll modify the subframe or chassis rail, whichever is closest to the trigger wheel to allow for some more clearance.
On a different note, does anyone know what size fire sleeve I should purchase for 6AN hose? I have ordered the hose but I don't have it to hand to measure the outer diameter. I'd like a neat, snug fit rather than it being baggy.
Any update on this anyone?
