All you need to do now is check the liners are a perfect circle ;)

Haha i cant remember who told me now, but someone bought some liners and they needed extensive honing etc as they weren't perfect circles.
Just some free advice and could possibly save you alot of agro :)
If you got them free though, then your already on a winner.. Also something else to consider is what rings your going to run. Hope this helps.

Re: JRP JERPA JERPA back in the game
Nice one ;) i saw it on ebay pistons at a decent price then in the add he put the liners in from ktec or somthing. really nice guy when he dropped them off.. just said it was sitting going to waste so selling on.
i'll check the liners out at the machine shop, i need special rings for the liners though nik somthing or other ?? any suggestions? or would the ones that come with the pistons suffice?
-
Re: JRP JERPA JERPA back in the game
tbh i think it was the mecca car parts ones, but could of been the gay-tech ones.. Damn my memory is getting bad lol..
That will be nickercil (spelling) .. I run total seal ones, but then they are a bit hit and miss with sealing.. I think some people just run standard rings.. All you've got to remember is 1 of the surfaces has the bed into the other, so something has to give ;)
-
Re: JRP JERPA JERPA back in the game
where do i gt nicercil ones from then :)

You can get the ones you have got Nikasil coated, if they are the k-tec ones they are not coated, Total seal rings as Dave says re good with the teel liners, but from memory I think the wossner rings you have should be ok with the steel liners as that's what BBPT and K-tec used to sell with there kits
-

I'm not sure you can get them.. Nickercil is normally a coating found on the bores.. I got my rings through the guy who does alot of engine work for me.. I'd have to have a look at my paperwork to see where i bought them from as they come from the states via a uk distributer.

Dave that would be good to know the part number for the Total Seal rings, as I have a set of Total Seals but lost the invoice and I need to replace 1 piston with ring's
-
Re: JRP JERPA JERPA back in the game
Ohh these pistons could give an asprin a head ache... how much to get them coated? and for decent rings?
standard liners might be easier.. :)

What you need to think about is what you actually want out of the engine and what you want it to do
-
Re: JRP JERPA JERPA back in the game
james i'm not sure there was a past number as all you do is measure the ring depth and obviously size of piston and then they'll match it up.. I'll have a look round a some point though.

Yeah I had to do that but i swear the invoice they sent me had a part number on it:scratch: this is going back a few years now though so my memory isn't what it was

Tbh my car was running 24ish psi + 60 to 70 horses of gas and the standard liners held up pretty damn well.. Didn't like the 100 shot though :( haha

Exactly mate.. Just use them! I'm only trying to help out not scare you.. Its better to no the cost's/maintenance prior to fitting parts that you think will save rebuilds etc only to find out your having to replace stuff every 4k miles..
Well nw i no you got them free, i'll have them for free please haha joking.

Wasn't is Stu clark that had the Mecca part ones and said that they needed alot of honing before he was happy with the piston to bore clearance

Cant wait to get the new garage sorted PARTY at JRP's when its complete.
